Seeing the smallfolk reacting shocked and affected by the parade of Meleys head doesn't sit right with me (i'm not saying it was right by team green it's terrible) but have they all forgotten that Meleys killed hundreds of the smallfolk as she brust through the floor of the dragon pit a few weeks/months ago???
Did the writers forget their own season 1 script?

I know a lot of people are disappointed with season 2 but , and stay with me for a second, what if it's all one big mislead ??
Explanation:
The thought came to me when I noticed that the show tells us over and over again that whoever wants the crown is not fit to rule
who insists on her claim? Rhaenyra. Why? Bc Daddy said so and she thinks its her birthright/ destiny.
who was forced to take the crown? Aegon (tears run down his cheek when he is crowned in S1, he says he doesn't want the crown)
soo Aegon doesn't want to be king but to everyone's surprise he is a relatively good king (cares about the smallfolk, was right about sending a dragon with Cole they could have killed or captured Bela and Moondancer if a dragon had accompanied him and Aegon was right with his plan to take Harrenhal back from Daemon to prevent him from raising an army.) Aegon never wanted to be king but when he wears the crown he tries to make informed and good decisions (Small Council Scene)
on the other hand
Rhaenyra, who insists on her claim but consistently shows that she is unfit to rule (even if the show refuses to acknowledge that)
and
Aemond how thinks he would be better suited to rule, he also wants the crown but also consistently makes wrong decisions and is clearly shown as a villain.
soooo nobody can tell me that HBO, the writers and everyone involved didn't notice this inconsistency in what was said and what was shown over and over again.
Maybe I'm just delulu. A girl can dream.

Okay, so enough time has passed. I’m going to be brutally honest, but the way a lot of you are talking about the meeting with Rhaenyra and Alicent makes it seem like Alicent practically ran over to Dragonstone with the intent of killing Aegon. Alicent went to Rhaenyra out of desperation after seeing how awful Aemond was, and I know you guys plugged your ears for this part, but her initial plan was to rescue Aegon, Helaena and Jaehaera and just, leave with them. The thought of killing Aegon horrified her, and she resisted it until she knew she couldn’t.
Alicent had just don’t something incredibly stupid. She thought she could rely on past emotions and appeal to Rhaenyra’s kindness - that didn’t work.
However, Alicent did not expect Rhaenyra to ask for Aegon’s head, she did not expect Rhaenyra to make her agree to killing Aegon. You guys are more angry at Alicent than you are at Rhaenyra for suggesting that dumb shit.
And you know what, yes, Alicent nodded, yes it seemed like Alicent agreed to it? Why - because she was going to be a prisoner. Rhaenyra would not let her go unless she believed Alicent was going to kill Aegon and Alicent understood that. We know Alicent isn’t going to kill Aegon, and we know that Aegon is safe. And I don’t think that Alicent would ever hurt him, but she literally had to say what she could to escape.
A lot of you are already looking at her in bad faith. You will complain about character assassination, and how the writing is shitty, and not once, for a moment just stop and think that Alicent knows she is in a dangerous game and that she has to say any and everything to escape so she won’t be kept a prisoner. Many of you never really liked her, you only liked her and her proxminity to how she cared for Aegon and Aemond, nothing else.
It doesn’t take that much for you all to turn on Alicent, and I realize that double standard.
Aegon is a rapist, and you guys accept and have excuses for him. Aemond tried to kill Aegon, put his hands on Helaena, you love him still. Larys, sexually exploited Alicent since she was a minor, you love him. Visery’s…Visery’s did everything and you guys are angrier at Alicent more than you are him for how the kids turned out.
But Alicent runs to Rhaenyra in desperation to save her family, is caught in a trap and has to lie to escape, and you guys turn on her.
I don't agree with what Alicent did - at all, even if I understood why she did it. But a lot of you were just waiting to hate her lmao.
