How Religion Can One-track Your Mind Especially When Youre Younger. Youre Part Of Something So Vast And Powerful And It Feels So Unknown - Tumblr Posts

…yes, deeply
is anyone else haunted by Ethel Cain in Family Tree (Intro) when she sings that second verse? i weep at the image of being caught up in something you can’t escape no matter how much you want to or how much you try, you’re doomed from the beginning

god I love this song
I LOVE family tree but family tree (intro) just…there’s something so melancholy about it
you’re absolutely right it’s haunting
…and it makes me think of my childhood yay
that exact verse about jesus trying to wash his mother’s blood off his fingers but it’s a futile effort
what’s going to destroy him is already inside him
just by virtue of being born he’s already doomed to a life prewritten and idk i think it speaks to
how religion can one-track your mind especially when you’re younger. you’re part of something so vast and powerful and it feels so unknown
and yet you’re told it’s supposed to be comforting
idk I have some thoughts about this but I’m not a professional I just have mild catholic guilt
