Htb Robotic Au - Tumblr Posts
Since I got permission to, here’s the basis for a Hail, True Body AU I’m working on!
So, basically, it’s a robotic AU. I have two different ideas for it, so…
Option 1:
Summary: Everyone’s a robot. Except for Azrael and Gabriel-they’re human. They’re also rivals for the plot. Both of them built the robots for the sake of “fuck it, I’m bored,” and now they have all these little robot dudes running around. Azrael’s robots can build other robots(they’re quite humanoid), but Gabriel’s robots have to be made by him(and they’re the equivalent of mimics.)
Humans: Just replaced by the robots. Humanoid, but not the point where it triggers the uncanny valley.
Mimics: Not humanoid. Flexible, shadowy robots, made up of millions of tiny little pieces. They can take any form by using camouflage technology and building themselves into the form of the robot they’re trying to mimic.
Main story: Still pretty similar, with a few key differences. The two humans are treated like gods, but most of the humanoid robots don’t know if they truly exist.
Other: The humanoid robots do need to take care of themselves like a human would(“sleeping” on a charging pad to recharge, regularly cleaning themselves, regular maintenance, eating, etc), but the other robots don’t need to do anything.
Option 2:
Summary: Humans are still humans, but the mimics are the robots.
Humans: The exact same. No change.
Mimics: Built by Gabriel. They’re somewhat humanoid, but with a few exceptions, such as size, shape, features, etc. They can shapeshift by rebuilding certain parts of themselves, along with camouflaging technology.
Main story: Once again, still the exact same. Except that mimic!Cesar is a bit more funky, but that’s expected.
Other: The robots feed on human souls and emotions.
Sooo… that’s about it! Please vote on which one I should do!
Alrighty!
So, about the htb!robotics AU, the results are in! It’ll be Option 2, which is where the mimics are the robots, but the humans are still normal.
Feel free to head over to my ask box if you want to know anything about the AU before I make the big ol’ post that explains it! :] /gen
Have a wonderful rest of your day/night!
(The original post is here, by the way!)
Hail, True Body Robotic!AU!
AAAAALLLRIGHTY! So, to start, I’d just like to make one thing clear: the original version of this is Hail, True Body by mustangs-flames, which you can check out here. With that out of the way, heeeres the AU!
What is it?
Overall, it’s a pretty simple concept: humans are still humans, but the mimics are now robots. That’s the most basic summary of it.
What are the mimics like?
The mimics were made by Lucifer(the original post about the AU said Gabriel, but I’m changing it to fit better with HTB) to just… wipe out humanity. Yeah. Lucifer’s still a priest, but he’s also an engineer in his spare time. The basement of the church is his workshop, so don’t be nervous if there’s some mechanical noises down there. Nothing’s alive in it, after all. The mimics themselves look somewhat humanoid in that they have a (mostly) human silhouette. It can change depending on the mimic. For example, some can have wings, animal-like features, digitigrade legs, paws, claws, several arms, more than two eyes, more than(or less than) one mouth… the list goes on. They do have a few similarities: all of them have glowing eyes in their unmodified forms, all of them can shapeshift, and all of them range from dark gray to pitch black. They can change size, too, so it usually just depends on what’s most convenient/comfortable for the mimic. Mimics are solar, emotion, and soul powered, and they need at least a small amount of all three to properly function. A mimic is made out of thousands of tiny little pieces(which, in its unmodified form, just stick together to look like your standard humanoid android that doesn’t trigger the uncanny valley), so it has to rearrange those pieces and use camouflage technology to shapeshift. The only way you can tell if a human is actually a mimic in disguise is if you shine an ultraviolet light into their eyes. If their eyes become brighter, then that’s a mimic.
(To kill a mimic, you have to hit its central processing unit. Typically, that unit is spread out, so you’d have to essentially destroy the entire mimic to kill it. However, the more human a mimic feels, the more its unit condenses into two specific areas: the middle of the chest and the head.)
What about the main cast?
All the same, surprisingly. The only differences are as follows:
•Adam is EXTREMELY well-built. Liam spent the most time on him, so his camouflage and modifying systems work without Adam having to think about it at all.
•Mimic!Cesar’s true form is different. I’ll be taking suggestions in my ask box for his design, and eventually there will be a poll. :] •Mark starts studying the mimics more before he kills them, and eventually that leads to him becoming interested in engineering. •Mimics are hand-built, but sometimes Lucifer just… slams some details in there. For no reason. The mimic’s designs are so extra.
•Cian likes to bake in this AU. Just a little detail! :] (he likes lemons.)
•The human Cesar always was a bit interested in the mimics. He was in Applied Technology all throughout middle and high school, but unfortunately he never got to actually see a mimic. I mean, he did, but it saw him first.
So, uh, yeah! That’s about it! Lemme know if you have any questions, and please have a wonderful rest of your day/night! Remember to drink water!
What are true forms in the robot AU? Are they the way they were first built (Ex: Unaltered forms)? If so, were they built that way for a reason? Or are they what is most comfortable/easy for them to be?
The true forms are their unaltered robotic appearances, with no modifications from shape shifting, so yes, the way they are when they’re built. They all have the same base build, but certain details are added on if Lucifer feels that it’s needed to achieve his goals for humanity. Generally, the mimics are more comfortable in their true forms, and if that true form is modified(for example, a mimic with several arms having the extras removed to only have two) then that’d be uncomfortable for them. Some mimics do modify, anyway, just to be more effective, or more horrifying. :]
Hail, True Body Robotic!AU: roboticmimic!Adam, explained!
So, in the Robotic!AU, Adam’s still a mimic, just a very well-built mimic. What this means is that Adam’s true form is:
Pretty humanoid in shape, size, and features
Similar to his human form in the terms of eye color, hairstyle, and height
Difficult to get into, easy to get out of.
So, that would mean that Azrael built Adam so that it would be much more difficult for him to go into his true form, and if that did happen, then he’d go back to his human form quite easily. As stated in the main post for this AU, Adam’s camouflage works without him thinking about it, which is fairly self-explanatory. That does take more processing power than the regular system, which is why he has to eat and sleep like a human to help get that “fuel” he needs. The only things that would out him as a robot would be that his body temperature is cooler than the average human’s, and that his emotions are… flat. But those are also normal human traits, so unless if you were certain that he’s a mimic, you wouldn’t pay attention to those little details.
Anybody want any htbRobotic!AU stuff? I’d be happy to answer any questions or explain how the characters and/or plot changed! :] /gen
I want to take your robots apart and put them back together.
You can share anything you want about the AU, I love it all. Maybe if you have random notes, you could share that? Or unorganized facts floating around in your head that you didn't get to write down yet?
Feel free to disassemble them! Just make sure to reassemble them correctly, otherwise some unforeseen issues might occur. :)
Also, thank you so much for the ask and the kind words! I really appreciate it! :D
So, uh… yeah, here’s everything I thought of for the AU! This is kinda long but, uhhh… enjoy!
•The mimics can overheat just like every other kind of electronic. However, it’s pretty rare, since their coolant systems are very well made. But it still happens enough for there to be a slight decrease of mimic encounters during the summer months.
•Eve always thought that something was a little off about Adam, but she never mentioned it. She thought it was some sort of mental condition, or maybe he just didn’t understand people well enough. There was always something robotic about him, after all.
•Mimic!Cesar hates the taste of water with a passion. He will only drink it if A. Somebody’s making him do it, B. It’s in a very specific kind of cup, and/or C. It’s cold.
•When mimics get their fight, flight, or freeze “instinct” triggered while they’re in their true forms, they usually change shape or size to fit the situation. If it’s a fight, then the mimic makes itself larger and packs its CPU farther into its body. If it’s a flight, then the mimic makes itself smaller, and therefore harder to hit. If it’s a freeze, then the mimic puts its CPU farther into its body like it would in a fight scenario, but it also closes any gaps that might exist in its form.
•Sam wants to study mimics, but also keep them as far away as humanly possible. He wants to know what they are and how they function, but he also wants to wipe them off the face of the earth. Gotta love the contradictions!
•Mimics just don’t get the concept of gender. At all. They know that pronouns are used to refer to people, but they don’t know how those pronouns are connected to a person’s body. After all, they’re just… metal. And you know for a fact that Liam didn’t give them the knowledge of middle school health class. This in the mimics either using the default it/its pronouns, using whatever pronouns their current/previous form used before switching when they change forms, or just using certain pronouns because they like the sound.
•Cian has an apron with lemons on it. It’s white. He also has a pair of matching oven mits. Plus, he makes lemon related food way too often.
•Mark has a comically large wrench the Sam gave him for his birthday once that he uses specifically for impolitely disassembling mimics. Bonk.
•Mimic!Cesar completely freaks out once he figures out how humans age and why it happens. It still scares him.
•Mark called mimic!Cesar things like “useless hunk of metal,” “pile of nuts and bolts” and constantly referring to him as an “it” or treating him like an object. Which he technically is, but he’s… y’know. Sentient. Which means he isn’t an object. But he’s also a robot…
•Mimics can cause power failures at will. However, for some reason, it’s easier to do involuntarily.
But, uh, yeah! That’s about it! Have a wonderful rest of your day/night and remember to stay hydrated! :] <3
Welcome, laddies, lasses, and las, to the first episode of “I’m kind of bad at art but I needed to get this done!” Today’s piece of work?
This solid 6/10 reference of what a mimic in the Hail, True Body Robotic!AU might look like!

(I’m a beginner artist, if you couldn’t tell.)
Keep in mind, this is not what ALL robotic mimics look like. This is just an example. If you want to know more about the mimics, there’s information in the masterpost for this AU. The original series that this is an AU of is Hail, True Body by mustangs-flames. :]
Text, in order from top to bottom:
Hail, True Body
Robotic!AU
Mimics
This is an example of what a robotic mimic might look like.
Feel free to ask questions! :)
A question about your AU for Htb! When disguising as people do they use holograms? Do their robotic parts rearrange to make that appearance? Do they need other robotic parts in order to build a kind of robotic shell?
I HAVE BEEN SUMMONED

So, in order for the mimics to assimilate, they do a few things:
Adjust their bodies to fit the shape and size of whoever/whatever their disguising themselves as
Get the finer features down, along with closing any “gaps” that might exist in their robotic forms
Use camouflaging technology to get the colors and textures down
Personality aspects added; assimilation finished.
That’s my take on it! :]
Because of your Htb aus mimics being more robotic than eldritch horror what exactly happened to human!cesar? I man in the original dude got broken down completely and turned into nothing so is his body still around somewhere in this version?
Yup! Since robots don’t feel a need to eat, mimic!Cesar just took human!Cesar’s soul and disposed of the corpse before calling Mark.
Poor Cesar probably dumped in some trash can somewhere
SNSJENDIJ-
Yeah, mimic!Cesar just dropped my guy off somewhere. Disposal, I guess?
Do mimics in your AU react to water or other electronically harmful substances? If so you just, get you water hose and power wash simulator them away?
Typically, no, they don’t. They’re waterproof, except when they’re in the process of assimilating. :] However, if something like sand or dust gets into their vents, that massively slows down their systems and could lead to being temporarily dysfunctional until they either manage to automatically fix themselves or someone else comes along and fixes them. They can close their vents, but since they’re usually open, if you caught them off guard it’d work. A power washer wouldn’t hurt them, per se, but it would definitely be annoying to be blasted with incredibly high-pressured water.
(Mark has tried to use water to get rid of those mechanical mobsters before. He was incredibly disappointed.)
Well in that case uh I’m kicking a child’s sand castle at them /prev
Yeah, that’d set ‘em out for the count to be honest 💀

Bored AF, send some asks about the Robotic!AU? :] /nf
the urge to write doomed robot platonic love is strong
in Mimicry, Mark shoots mimic!Cesar to stop him... what does Mark do in the robotic au to stop him?
oh god I forgot about this ask- I AM SO SORRY BRO 😭
So, to answer that question, Mark still shoots him; since the more human the mimics get, the more their processors/other important tech bitties condense in the parts where human organs would be(specifically the chest and head region). Meaning that shot would still take him out.
You know that AU I have? The robotic one? Well, here’s the first piece of writing for it! Enjoy!
TW: Cursing, violence(not onscreen), and death(not graphic). If I missed a warning, please let me know! Also, if you find any spelling or grammar errors, lemme know about that, too! :]
“Shit, shit, shit, shit, SHIT, SHIT, SHIT, SHIIIIIIT-!” Those were the words running through one unfortunate robot’s head as it sprinted through the densely wooded area that it just so happened to find itself in, the lights gleaming on its joints and “face” cutting through the fog in a way that made it’s job much harder.
Its current target had figured out its plan way too quickly. There were no gaps! No seams, no breaks, and, dare it say, not even a STITCH visible in its wonderful, perfect idea! So, what went wrong?
The bot ran through the plan again.
“Okay, 1768-B. It was easy: kill that dude’s classmate by beating the shit out of him, then call to ask for help on the group project they were doing. Ask if you could come over. Go over there. Then, take the dude’s place. Easy! So, what went wrong?
Y’know, it might have something to do with the fact that you forgot the name of the guy you were impersonating. And then didn’t think of a good explanation fast enough. But, hey, it’s-“
BAM!
Most robots generally don’t get distracted by their AI/inner monologue long enough to crash into a tree. 1768-B wasn’t like most robots. 1768-A, its AI, wasn’t like most AI, either, but that’s beside the point.
Once B peeled itself off the bark of the tree, A reminded it to turn up the sound sensors.
The footsteps and panicked breathing of the dude had disappeared.
“SHIT!”
B nodded in agreement. It was only a temporary setback; humans never go far. Usually. Didn’t one of their siblings have to travel to another country to catch their prey?
Eh, that wasn’t important right now. B started cautiously and quietly moving through the forest, using the good ol’ fashioned built-in GPS to try to find its way back into the city.
“Up and at ‘em. He could be anywhere, but chances are, he’s probably heading back home. So we just have to stay there and wait, and- shhh.”
B stopped moving at A’s shushing. The two sat there for a moment, the bot patiently waiting for what the AI had heard.
“Sounds like rocks rolling down a hill, doesn’t it? Does the GPS say something about a cliff?” B nodded. “Okay. Well… it can’t hurt to check it out.” “…
Well, I guess we won’t have to worry about that anymore.” B gave a huff of air through its vents, its version of a sigh.
They crouched down by the edge of the cliff, staring down at the motionless form of the dude below them.
The bot turned up the sensitivity of the audio sensors again, allowing the AI to listen.
No breathing. No heartbeat. No sound at all, except for the occasional wayward pebble falling.
“Does this count as a kill?” B shrugged. Its battery was depleted, and it didn’t get a chance to charge all day since it was too busy stalking the dude’s classmate. It dissolved its form a bit so it could slide down the cliff wall more easily. They came to a rest by the corpse of the dude, and it pawed at the air around the corpse.
Human souls are anchored to the body immediately after death for a bit, at least until they can move on. It seems like the dude hadn’t yet. 1768-B quickly “grasped” the soul, the familiar squirmy feeling of that empty cold-yet-warm air filling its mouth, and then its battery.
“Done?”
B nodded. A could be kind of demanding at times, but they were stuck together. Quite literally. AIs couldn’t survive outside of bots, and bots couldn’t survive without the AIs. But that’s unrelated.
1768 stood up and turned on the GPS’ navigation system, wandering in the vague direction of the attic that they called “home.” What have they learned?
Absolutely nothing. Well, except for maybe to remember names a bit more.
