science/biology side of tumblr does anyone know what these ruby throated hummingbirds are doing? are they courting or are they trying to macho each other out of the territory of the feeder?

ATTENTION there are hummingbird species called pufflegs and they are all wearing very silly pants and that’s their defining trait

Once when I was little I had a white hat with fake flowers on it, all different colors, and sometimes I would put it on and sit under the hummingbird feeder and wait for the birds to fly around me, checking out if the hat was food.

I remember the first time I saw a hummingbird was this one time when I was little, my family and our family friends got to rent a cottage near a lake for about a week. And when I woke up I saw one getting nectar from the flowers near the window. It also happened to be a bright sunny morning, that was so picturesque and I went to tell everyone I could once they woke up.
