   You both ask it at the same time. Merlin grinned at you over the rim of his glass and threw back the remaining liquid. He stood up and pulled on his jacket, offering you a hand to help you down from the bar stool. You stuffed some cash in the tip jar and took his hand.

   The air outside the pub was cool and Merlin had one long arm wrapped around your wait. It felt perfect.You aren’t completely drunk, but tipsy enough to bump hips with him as you walked.

   By the annoyed look the cashier gave you it’s clear that you’re not the first drunk customers they’ve served and you wouldn’t be the last.

   “This was such a good idea.” Merlin sounded like he’s salivating. He took a huge bite from a thigh and closed his eyes. He’s not leaning back or moaning, but it’s a near thing. You make some noise of agreement, because your mouth is full of salty, savory, goodness. You were enjoying this so much. Why was food tastier when you were drunk? It wasn’t fair to sober you.

   “Oh fuck.” You blurted as an amazing idea came to you. You went to the counter and got another order of fried chicken. Merlin raised his eyebrows in question. “Chicken and waffles. For breakfast tomorrow.”

   He paused chewing, processing what you said. He put the chicken down and blinked. “What did I do to deserve you?” He looked like he was getting teary eyed.
