Dating a secretive Decepticon requires creative thinking. And a Nintendo Switch.

After a quick dinner and a hot shower, you wriggle into some comfortable clothes. You launch yourself into bed, Switch in hand, and snuggle back against the pillows. A few clicks and you’re greeted by the familiar sight and sounds of Animal Crossing’s main menu.

Once in the game, you rush to the airport and button mash your way through the menus, hitting ‘I wanna fly!’ by mistake. Annoyed, you repeat the process until you get the dodo code and text it to Soundwave. Not that he needed it. He’s proved on multiple occasions that he could hack his way onto your island.

You decide to do a few laps around the chairs while you wait.

It isn’t long until the announcement that someone is visiting scrolls past on your screen.

You can’t help the little smile that creeps up onto your face, a bubble of excitement welling up inside of you. It feels silly to get this excited over a virtual date, but you push it aside. Soundwave makes you happy. You just hope he feels the same way.

The arrival scene comes up.

You laugh as the cutscene plays and he walks through the gates, dressed in a hot dog costume and sunglasses. The moment it’s over, a little chat bubble appears over his head with a smiley face.
