This makes me laugh so hard cuz like ... that would mean this entire plotline was constructed... so that Gwen...my angel wonderful amazing gwen ... could be queen

Like yes she would for sure bring the golden age and be the best queen camelots ever had but merlin and Arthur's story had to end in tragedy for that to happen

Not only that but almost everyone merlin has ever cared about has DIED for this to happen

This also makes sense with my own personal theory about basement lizard just wanting the pendragon dynasty to end and this means he did that and accomplished bringing the golden age

In the end FUCKING KILGARRAH GETS EVERYTGING HE WANTS SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!

Tired: Merlin has to out his identity so that Arthur can make the magic oppression about himself and/or is inconvenienced by it enough to care.

Wired: Arthur sees that magic is not inherently evil, regardless of any knowledge about Merlin’s identity, and legalizes magic because it’s the right thing to do for his people.

Inspired: Arthur lets Gwen write all of Camelot’s laws.

i love how watching merlin with my dad is a mocking sesssion. there are 3 of us and we're not letting them live down any of their mistakes.

and he hadn't seen a few episodes with important plot points, so we started giving him summary starting with "so there was this drama..." dad: when wasn't there drama in merlin? they're all too dramatic for their own good

also he has a theory, that there's no prophecy and destiny, and the dragon come up with all that bullshit because he was bored and wanted some entertainment. which. makes too much sense, actually.
