WHY DO 90% OF SNAPCHAT FILTERS CHANGE MY GODDAMN FACIAL STRUCTURE. LET ME HAVE HELLO KITTY WHISKERS WITHOUT MAKING MY CHIN AND NOSE SMALLER. I DON'T WANT THAT. LIKE IS THERE AN ISSUE WITH MY FACE??? THIS IS NOT HEALTHY FOR THE PPL OUT THERE THAT ARE INSECURE ABOUT THE SIZE OF THEIR FACE, IT JUST MAKES THINGS WORSE, SEEING WHAT THEY "COULD LOOK LIKE" AND GETTING USED TO THAT VERSION OF THEM. YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL THE WAY YOU ARE, YOU DON'T NEED A SMALLER CHIN AND NOSE TO BE GORGEOUS.
ALSO, IT'S KIND OF RACIST IN MY WHITE OPINION (i'm not the authority on this it's just smth I've noticed) THAT IT MAKES UR NOSE SMALLER. LIKE, YOU DON'T NEED A SMALL NOSE TO BE PRETTY. BIG NOSES ARE GORGEOUS. Like. Why????? Why does it change your entire face??????? I like my face. I like your face. You don't need to change your face so why does it change the face of the user?? Is it saying people with round faces and big noses should change that???? Plus it makes ppl look very young (and I already look 14 when I am 17, I do NOT need to look 12) which is kinda???? Weird????? Like, you don't need to look like a teenager to be attractive.
So so bulletpoint list on why I don't like most sc filters:
• A lot of sc filters make your nose and chin smaller
• Changing someone's face like that implies that there was something wrong in the first place.
• It's bacically saying that having big chins and noses is "ugly" which is SO untrue.
• A lot of poc have big noses and chins, in fact most ppl with big noses (not caused by aging) are poc. So saying it's something you need to change is borderline racist (again, I'm not an authority on this bc I'm very white.)
• People who are insecure about their faces in this way don't need confirmation that they should change their looks.
• It makes you look a lot younger (because it also gives you bigger eyes, forgot to say), which another whole can of worms. And for the reasons listed above: it means that you look "prettier" younger. Not true.
• Maybe, possibly, could be shooting in the dark here, PEOPLE WANT TO HAVE A STUPID FILTER W/O CHANGING THEIR ENTIRE FACE???? I LIKE my face. I don't want to look like an anime character. I want to have clouds over my eyes and stars in my hair without looking like a whole other person, thank you.
• A lot of people already have the "desired" proportions, so add in the damn filter changing it, and it makes ppl look so uncanny.
I just think it's stupid that all the cute filters change your whole face and I CAN'T be the only one right???? Am I overreacting??
