I Have More Drafts Than Finished Pieces - Tumblr Posts

So, I saw this post (adorable drawing) and remembered that I had this draft that I never finished. I think it gives an idea of what I wanted to do. I absolutely know that Roland would be sooo sick of both of them.

Inconvenient meetings

(based on "Not even in my worst nightmares")

No one enjoyed dealing with the King of Rudistan, but it was a necessary evil to keep the trade routes crossing his territory open, as well as to secure his valuable contribution to metal imports.

Roland had never been keen on meetings with Magnus, which, unfortunately, were becoming more frequent and tedious due to the reforms imposed on several treaties. Putting up with Magnus was relatively easy; Roland had trained for years to smile and nod at whatever the king said, which always seemed enough to keep him satisfied.

The King of Rudistan wasn’t dangerous, beyond his endless boasting, which while irritating, didn’t pose a major problem for their trade relationship. His husband on the other hand, was a constant irritant that was wearing down Roland’s patience.

He was much shrewder than Magnus, if that was any achievement, and didn’t hesitate to push and demand in negotiations that had never interested him before.

No one at the castle knew how or when something had happened between the king and the sorcerer. All Roland knew was that one day Cedric was in his office resigning with the biggest smile he’d ever seen, and the next, he was moving to Rudistan. It didn’t take long for Roland to understand why.

Cedric had become the second King of Rudistan and Magnus’s greatest obsession. A whirlwind wedding quickly elevated him among the nobility, and he soon became a regular attendee at meetings with other kingdoms alongside his new husband. No one had expected such a turn of events, and the news had certainly shaken most of the political sphere surrounding Rudistan.

The mere idea of the two of them getting married was hard for Roland to grasp, especially because, despite the obvious power Cedric now enjoyed with his new status, it was clear their relationship was based on love, not just cold self-interest.

The way they looked at and spoke to each other showed a mutual affection and understanding that Roland had thought impossible for either of them, especially Magnus. Roland had always believed that the king cared for no one but himself, but Magnus had proved him, and everyone else, completely wrong.

Magnus treated Cedric as if he were the most precious thing to ever walk the earth—and maybe for him he was, judging by the love and pride with which he spoke of him. When it came to his husband, Magnus spared no expense. Not that Magnus was the frugal type to begin with, but with Cedric, his lack of restraint seemed to vanish entirely.

The sorcerer didn’t lag behind either. His connection with the king was unique, and in their own peculiar way, they were a truly endearing couple. Still, despite all the love they radiated, Roland had had enough of both of them.

Someone save Roland from such a terrible nightmare!
