My experience is similar. Except a little bit longer ago. I was working for a summer in Helsinki and decided to go visit my penfriend who lived in Vaasa. We chat about zines and demos and stuff and have some beers and then he says "Hey, I know, we'll watch something." And we watched Bottom. And yeah, nothing changed except everything. It was exactly like that.
So, it's occurred to me that it's now been about 5 years (it was late December, around Christmastime) since the night I caught an episode of Bottom (Holy) and went down a Rik Mayall rabbit hole. I always talk about that evening as being "fateful", even though that sounds extremely pretentious. I mean, what exactly has happened or changed because of that?
Well, nothing really. Except everything.
