I currently have 3 different TMNT iterations 😀
These, very messy, doodles feature 2 of them. My defiance turtles and the other ones… they don’t have a name yet :/
The defiance turtles are the dark red (Raph, he/she) and dark blue (Leo, she/they/he). The other ones are my unnamed turtles, with the one drawn in purple being Donnie (he/they), yellow Mikey (he/she/they), light blue as Leo (she/he/they), and dark green being Raph (she/he)
My unnamed turtles don’t have much of a story yet, but I do have their character dynamics worked out. Mikey is the oldest (around 19 maybe?) and is a parental figure, while Leo and Raph are the equivalent of the disaster twins in rise (both 14-15), and Donnie is the youngest, being somewhere from 7-9.
My defiance turtles do have more background, but it isn’t super fleshed out. I know for certain that they were raised by shredder and were very loyal to him. That is, until they got older and realized how much he mistreated them, leading to them actually starting to act like siblings (since shredder kept them separated and unfriendly with each other) and start to explore New York City. Shredder wanted to use them as soldiers to destroy New York, so he told them that it was terrible and refused to let them outside. But, as said, they started to sneak out and developed a love for New York City, as well as getting into a bunch of adventures, leading to them becoming heroes, finding their dad, splinter, meeting April and Casey, and fighting shredder.
How all this happens, I don’t really know, but maybe I’ll develop it more in the future :)
Also, if it wasn’t obvious, I took a lot of inspo from rise and the 2012 turtles for these
More of my defiance Leo, she’s a cutie pie💙
These are some concept sketches of her, thought I’d share them so I could also talk a bit about her character!
For Leo I took most of my inspo from 2012, especially from the head canon that 2012 Leo is transfem, which is why my Leo uses mainly she/they
I really wanted her to have grandma vibes, partly cause I think that’s funny, and also because I wanted to lean into her being soft and not very confident. She still is the leader, but she doesn’t really control her siblings
Also, she is tiny!!! She’s the shortest of her siblings but the oldest (or second oldest, I can’t decide whether it’s gonna be her or Raph who’s oldest), though I’m not really sure how old she is yet
She likes reading, knitting, tea, probably baking, she literally is just a grandma
She’s closest with Mikey, he looks up to her a lot, the beads around her waist were made by him. In her final design, I’m going to add more to symbolize how close their relationship is. Leo looks up to Raph, she’s the one Leo goes to if she needs advice, and to show this Leo is wearing fishnets on one arm and the hoops in her mask came from Raph. Her and Donnie, who I haven’t shown yet but hopefully will soon, have a very strained relationship. The heart pin on her scarf is for Donnie and she wears one of Donnie’s old masks on her arm.
