People who say Percy would sacrifice the world for his loved ones clearly didn't read book 1 of the series where he sacrificed his mom to save the world.

but in the 1st book it wasnt
“save your mom or the world” i
it was
“save your mom + leave someone behind OR leave your mom + save your friends”
and he chose to leave her because he believed that he would be able to save her after he did what he needed to do
