I Sorta Improvise As I Go - Tumblr Posts
I saw your Custom Banana Peepy and was wondering how you made it.
First I realized the clear safety eyes I bought were way too big, then that I had the right colors, then lotsa staring at my own Peepy plushes and patterns for plush bananas online, really
then deciding, "screw it, I'm gonna wing it!"
I drew out the shapes on felt with fabric marker (drawing them a little bigger for seam allowance). If I'm making multiples of a shape (feet/ears/sides) I'll use the first one to trace the others. I assembled the face and used that as the base to attach the other pieces, stuffing as I went and finishing with the tail.
So there were two parts of this that gave me the most pause: the feet and the beak.
The feet are this weird shape... Kinda like Pac-Man with his ass bit-off, uh... Well it's like Fishcar's head actually. Each foot gets two of them, the middle part gets sewn together to make a warped half-circle-ish shape.

Now the mouth is two half circles, but what about the little red line? idk if it's sewn or glued on with regular Peepy. I cut out a strip of red felt in an arc, sewed it between the part of the beak that wasn't gonna be attached to the body, and trimmed it down.
I hand sew everything because that's just how I started years ago, with some basic needles and embroidery floss (also I cannot use a sewing machine to save my life lol). Recommend using backstitch.
