Jun’s head snapped up as the wind blew, the scent of fresh food filling his nose. He was almost done with this victim anyway, so he didn’t care if he left it without finishing.
He stood, not bothering to wipe off his mouth as his black and red eyes scanned the seemingly empty streets. He sniffed the air again, trying to get a feel of where the delicious smell was coming from. He’d never smelled anybody that smelled so sweet before, and it made his mouth water.
Finally, Jun seemed to get a sense of where to go, and he ran off toward the scent. He found you not too far away, walking down the sidewalk alone with your hands shoved into your coat pockets. You didn’t seem to hear him or sense him behind you, so he slowed his pace and took his time to trap you and drag you down the nearest alleyway.
However, as soon as he saw your face – saw how your eyes were glossy with tears, how you looked at him in fear, how you whimpered and begged him to not kill you – something in him wanted to keep you. He wanted to tear into your flesh with his teeth more than anything, but he also had this overwhelming urge to take you home and keep you as his.
So, he did. He kept you for months, and made you his. He was strict with you, though he claimed he loved you. But you were terrified of him.
“Baobei…” he’d whisper, stroking your cheek as his eyes would be consumed by black with bright red irises, “I wonder if you know how I feel.”
Stuck. That was the only way he could describe how he felt. Some weird in-between of wanting to consume you, but wanting to keep you by his side. He’d never smelled anybody as sweet as you, and it made him want you more than anything. No matter how much he ate, nothing could satisfy his craving to have you.
Whenever you did happen to accidentally piss him off – if you spoke to somebody too long, if you smiled at anybody – Jun would be sure to remind you of that, too.
“I could kill you, y’know,” he’d growl in your ear, pinning you against a wall with his hand wrapped around your throat tight enough for you to know that he could crush your windpipe if he wanted. “I could kill you right now, and you couldn’t do anything about it. Nobody would look for you. Everybody already thinks you’re dead, anyway. I made it look like I ate you in that alley when I found you, so what difference would it make if I really ate you, huh?”
You knew that, too. You knew exactly what Junhui was capable of, and it was that fear that kept you from disobeying him or trying to run away. It was fear that kept you by Jun’s side this whole time – not going outside unless he wanted you to go with him somewhere, not speaking to anybody else or making friends, and doing exactly as he told you to do.
“I-I’m sorry,” you’d whimper, looking up into the brightness that contrasted the stark black in Jun’s eyes. You felt his teeth grazing the skin of your shoulder, biting down until it hurt, but not enough to break the skin – though, he’d done that before when he was really angry once. “I wasn’t trying to upset you. I’m trying to stick to the rules as much as possible, I promise. I won’t slip up again.”
Jun also knew it was fear that kept you obedient, so he let the possibility of him eating you alive dangle over your head.
“Of course you won’t,” his warm breath fanned your skin, making you shudder. “Because you know what’ll happen if you really piss me off.”
