i think cats fanfiction allows for great in-character plots some other fandoms may not exactly. i think there should be a cats fic somewhere that goes like this:

• munkustrap walks onto a spot of sunlight coming in through a window and flops on his side. sunbathing time.

• tugger comes over. flops down as well.

• they see a bird. munkustrap chirps. tugger tells him to shut up. munkustrap shuts up. tugger chirps.

• tugger smacks munkustrap for existing too close to him. munkustrap smacks him back. tugger screams until a human comes to pet him into solace. he will never forget this betrayal.

• 10 minutes later, tugger has forgotten this betrayal. tugger deems munkustrap's tail chewable.

• munkustrap smacks him.

• tugger screams.

rinse and repeat.
