I Wasn't Hating - Tumblr Posts
ok so i made a post abt andrew's "misogyny" a while ago and if i'm being honest that was sort of a joke. yes i know u can be misogynistic while having female friends. obviously. i didn't think people would take it that seriously. if i'm being completely serious about this, i still don't think i would say andrew's a misogynist. it just isn't the right word. i do think he has a wariness of women the same way neil has an ingrained wariness of older men, and that is borne out of the emotional trauma he carries from tilda and cass. still, i don't think he dislikes people in particular because of gender or race or anything like that. as ppl said in the tags, andrew is very much an equal opportunity hater. i think the bone i'm trying to pick here is the wording. i don't think andrew hates women, i think he has an ingrained mistrust and wariness of them developed from the emotionally scarring relationships he's had w women (esp mother figures) in the past, but that doesn't equate to misogyny imo. he doesn't treat them any worse or better than anyone else. i also don't want to tell anyone what to think r.e. andrew's character. y'all can feel free to agree/disagree but just do it respectfully it's really not that hard. i don't think saying that he isn't a misogynist robs him of any depth as a character, and i'm not saying he's even a good person, i just don't like the connotations of that statement and i think there's a lot more nuance there than the simple statement "andrew is a misogynist" doesn't cover, and i think that does rob andrew's character of a lot of depth. take from this what you will, but this is just my personal opinion and i'm tired of reading ppl saying my first post is oversimplifying or glazing like it was in jest. this is me being serious.
