No for fuck sake she doesn’t need time to herself to figure herself out. No one at the age of 14 fully knows who they are. They’re teenagers.
She had PLENTY OF TIME ALONE to, as you say, “figure herself out”.
She had THREE HUNDRED FIFTY THREE DAYS ALONE to “figure herself out” (Oh also the whole Kali storyline was about figuring herself out, and! She! Was! Alone!) She literally recognized her abuser for who he was and SHE CALLED HIM OUT leaving him to die without the satisfaction of hearing ANY words of comfort from her. (AND SHE DID THIS ALL ALONE!!! BY HERSELF!!! WITHOUT THE HELP OF ANYONE!!!)
she KNOWS she’s not the monster. Stop treating her like she has the brain of a five years old.
She dumped Mike in s3 because he was lying to her, and yes it was with the help of Max that she dumped him, but it was her choice to dump him! In s4 it was HER choice to argue because she thought that Mike didn’t love her! When in s3 she’s sad without him, she’s sad not because she doesn’t know who she is without him, BUT BECAUSE SHE LOVES HIM AND DOESN’T WANT TO BE WITHOUT HIM. (AND SHE SAYS SO TO HIM AT THE END OF THE SEASON). If you think that she doesn’t know what love is, and how to give and receive it, then, as I said, you’re ableist, as simple as that.
Also if she “latched herself on anyone that treats her like a human being” then why does this apply to Elmax? Dustin, Lucas, (from the end of s1) Max and Will always treated her like a human being. Does their love for her mean nothing? Can’t she love them back because she really loves them and not because in your twisted mind she has no idea of who she is and her love for them is invalid?
Sorry if I’m coming off pissed off, but the idea that traumatized people can’t receive/give love BEFORE THEY’VE HEALED fucking angers me because traumatized/ND people deserve to be loved and to be in love just like anyone else.
If you say that El can’t recive or give romantic love because of what happened to her I’m just gonna right out say it: you’re ableist
