That moment when your twin brother is fucking dead

Those art memes except it's just my character Mihr as a child

So yesterday in Genetics lecture, we learned about something called “incomplete penetrance”. Basically, it’s when not all individuals with a certain allele display that trait, even if logic says they should. Normally I don’t share my class notes with the Internet because frankly I doubt anyone wants to see them. But the example our professor gave us was polydactyly. Naturally, when he explained this and showed us a picture, my first thought was:

Let me explain why I’m bringing this up.
I just sort of assumed that Ford had six fingers due to an in utero mutation (a spontaneous mutation of an embryo while it’s still developing), because polydactyly, or having additional phalanges, is a dominant trait. If a child has it, one of their parents does too. Like inheriting brown vs blue eyes. But it turns out that polydactyly isn’t that simple.
In order to be a polydactyl, you need at least one copy of the dominant allele (let’s call it “P”; the recessive allele is “p”). If you have extra fingers you either have two copies (PP) or one copy (Pp). If you have no copies (pp), you have five fingers on each hand. However, only about 3/5 of people with either PP or Pp actually have extra phalanges. Roughly 2/5 of people with PP or Pp have the normal number of fingers.
I promise I have a point.
And here it is: Most of us have been assuming that Stan and Ford are fraternal, rather than identical, twins. This is not just because of the whole “polydactyly” thing but also because of this:

Ford has a cleft chin, Stan doesn’t. Now, my first thought was “okay but Stan could have a cleft chin, it could just be understated for the sake of simplicity, or telling them apart”. But after a bit of research, I found something out. A cleft chin is like polydactyly: it’s the dominant trait, but has incomplete penetrance.
The two things that everyone thought meant they weren’t identical have no meaning. They could still be identical genetically, it was just some weird twist of fate that made them appear to be fraternal. And if they are identical after all?
Ford isn’t the only anomaly.
In incomplete penetrance, only a minority of people with a dominant allele do not display the dominant trait. Stan is a part of that minority. Ford is weird as hell (that kind of post-axial polydactyly is rare on one hand, let alone two), and from a scientific standpoint, so is Stan. Not displaying a dominant trait when you have the dominant allele is abnormal.
They’re even more alike than they realize.
do you know how much it can negatively affect your sense of self?? and how many comments you get?? how even your VOICES can the same?? and it's just something that pop culture treats like a quirky character trait. we are not "basically the same person." we are not "the same person twice." we are not clones!! and even now I feel whiny complaining about this because it's not something I'm SUPPOSED to be upset about!!
being an identical twin is like being part of a very obscure demographic that is overall negative and you are not allowed to get mad about at all if someone says something wrong about it
idk man but something about Stanley "taught himself extremely advance physics/math/probably many other things while running a relatively successful business" Pines and Stanford "is wanted in almost every dimension with a judicial system of some kind" Pines is sooo fucking funny to me

Twins

Okay so I was doing art on an app called color pop, color pop is an app where you have unlimited freedom on how you can color the pictures it has. It’s great for kids because there’s a feature where you can have closed lines for easier drawing. Anyways I was looking for something to color when I seen this, when I seen this I instantly thought of identical twins but one is a girly girl who likes pink and bright colours and is popular and has a higher voice, while the other one is more of a tomboy with a deeper voice who wears a lot of black and grey, she has more of an alternative style. Now if you’ve seen the anime Haikyu!! You should know of the identical twin boys Atsumu and Osamu, the way these boys have it so people can tell them apart is that they each have different coloured dyed hair, I used this for my twin girls in the picture.
The girl on the left is Yuka, which is Japanese for gentle sun. Yuma is your average popular girl, she’s skinny and athletic except she is very nice to Yuzuki but only at home, at school she tends to ignore Yuzuki, not really on purpose it just kind of happens. she has more of a loud personality, she hangs out with a lot of popular kids, and is very well know at inarazaki high school (inarazaki is the school Atsumu and Osamu go to in Haikyu!!) she manages the boy’s basketball team.
On the other hand, the girl on the right is Yuzuki, this has multiple meanings it could mean small citrus fruit, or moon, snow, and gentle. Yuka calls her Zuki. Yuzuki has more of a calm personality, unlike Yuka, Yuzuki is unpopular and constantly called emo. Yuzuki lives in the shadow of Yuka which isn’t easy as sometimes it seems even her family likes Yuka more than her. Yuzuki is pretty much the exact opposite of Yuka, she is kind of chubby and has thick thighs like most chubby girls, she isn’t athletic at all especially with her Asthma issues. She is taller than Yuka but only by a few inches. Yuzuki is the manager of the boys volleyball team. (This is the team that Atsumu and Osamu play on).
Tell me what you think of this because I really like it.
I’d write a story about this but I’m not gifted in that department lol. Thanks for reading my silly idea ❣╰(⸝⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝⸝)╯❣
