Im Not As Hyper Fixated On Pjo As I Used To Be - Tumblr Posts

I remember when my literature teacher from middle school openly voiced how she disliked teen books like Harry Potter (this was before the transphobia thing btw), that they weren’t real literature and therefore not valuable.

At some point she commented on my favorite saga, Percy Jackson, even though she never read it. You know, it hurts. It hurts to have schools telling you to read more and then calling you out for not reading the right things.

As a young girl who was scared of the future, who later would spent her formative years in a fricking worldwide lockdown, who is likely neurodivergent but still doesn’t have a conclusive diagnosis, Percy Jackson was my biggest solace.

It gave me hope, strength to keep going, it taught me I’m not alone and it pushed me to become a better artist. I don’t know where I would be today without it.

It did way more to me than any “real literature” I ever read. It’s valuable, even though some can’t see it.
