It's me or only Rain cares about Edenia?

Looks like Edenia were totally left aside in this timeline :c

Hong Lu and Sinclair getting the Blubbering Toad E.G.O makes me sooo sad because the toad is inspired by a Korean children's story about why frogs cry in the rain told as a moral lesson about respecting and listening to your parents.

Growing up the little frog disobeys time and time again when his mother tells him to do something, and soon he grows up, still disrespectful and never doing what his mother asks. Eventually she grows old and weak and asks that he buries her body on the riverside - hoping he will disobey as he always has and instead bury her on the mountain. But after his mother passes he finally decides to be a good son and listens to her, so he buried her on the river like she asked, despite his worries about what would happen when it rains. And so he cries and cries every time it rains hoping that it will not wash her grave away.

The two Sinners are both so deeply entangled in family obedience and failing to be a good son or trying desperately to become one. The constant mourning and grief expressed in the Abnormality, crying out and alone, with the right answer being to just sit by it and let it cry it out... Sinclair's dead family and Hong Lu's complicated relationship with his family... It all ties in so well for the two of them

You know what? The line in Falcon and the Winter Soldier which many people consider to be the "best" might actually be the single most offensive from the POV of a trauma victim and abuse survivor.

I am referring of course to Sam saying:

"If you want to crawl out of that hell you're in, you have to put in the work"

Can we just talk about how incredibly messed up it is to say such a thing to a person with PTSD? This line is tantamount to Sam telling Bucky that his nightmares- which are undoubtedly related to his PTSD as well as other pyschological and emotional effects of his condition are basically self-inflicted.

That he's somehow bought the impact of his trauma upon himself and is wallowing in self-pity or something and now he is responsible for dragging himself out of it by.... taking responsibility for his own abuse and victimization and making it right with other victims.

Putting that kind of emotional strain on a person already broken, drained by the impact of violence-based PTSD is evil. There is no other word for it. Its not helpful. It is not compassionate. It is not assisting in their healing.

As someone who loves to indulge in fanfic and fanart, I can understand like. Wishing that people finished comics/fics they started but have decided for whatever reason to leave it where it is. And I also understand the whole “this kinda rubs me the wrong way because this isn’t how I think of this character.”

BUT you should understand that the same way YOU have certain beliefs about a character, other people’s version are also equally as valid.

I don’t understand how some people can’t wrap their head around the fact that, fan works are self indulgent, they are not made to “make sense” to you or to be as accurate as possible. Some people put a lot of work into making things as close to canon as they can, and some just want to have fun.

EITHER WAY, if you don’t like the way someone makes something from a fandom you like, all you have to do is don’t interact with it and go about your day.

As an artist, it really makes me sad to see how people do this. This is why personally, I normally only share my stuff between my closest friends.i can’t possibly express how much it sucks the life out of you when someone decides to try and tell you how to enjoy something. It is beyond disrespectful to take someone else’s passion and hard work and throw it into a robot to jumble out a lifeless continuation of their work.

anyone notice a new trend of really entitled people joining fandom?

I feel like jerks have existed since the beginning of time, but it feels worse lately.

So far this year, I've witnessed:

People offering free unasked criticism to artists because they're not happy with the way their favourites are portrayed, stating that 'they deserve to know what they did wrong so they can improve' while the feedback they offered was 'why does everyone look like they're on ozem***' (idk if i need to tw this word)

Also giving feedback AND REVIEWS to FANFIC as if they're published works (and adding them on GOODREADS TO RATE)

People mass producing binded fanfiction and making THOUSANDS of dollars off work they did not create (they stole the artwork too)

People running incomplete fanfictions through AI because the writer wasn't updating and COMMENTING on the fic telling others to do the same so they can get an ending

And now, in the span of two days:

People trying to argue that if they can't sell binded fanfiction, then you're not allowed to commission fanart from artists either

The same people encouraging people to use AI or steal fanart for their binds

ALSO the same people openly admitting that when they typset fics, they will edit the fanfiction and change entire sentences so that it 'makes more sense to them' -- one person complained the entire fic was rough gramatically and was seeking permission not from the author but OTHER BINDERS to freely edit as they please

I'm trying to be a positive person in the communities I'm in, but GOD I am so tired. Every day I fight a battle deciding if I should just be a worse person, everyone's doing whatever the hell they want anyway.
