well i do NOW
I've had a few people especially around the mid 2000's who shared my nickname I grew up with since birth
But even though I had been warned by someone who was a much bigger fan of Deadpool (having read the comics)
I was still walloped upside the head when MY name made an appearance in the newest movie. Talk about a double take.
It's never in ANYTHING and the only other person who had it was an lady my mom vaguely knew who was convinced my mom named me after her
She introduced herself as “The lady you're named after!” every time. But she was like 80
So my mom wasn't going to say otherwise and ruin that for her.
My nickname is more common so I have seen that in the wild a bit more mostly around 2010 it became a bit well known because of a show
And I met the most ADORABLE yorkie with my nickname. Left cute little paw prints on my ankles and everything
But my given name is much MUCH less popular
I should probably add my name isn't quite “English”
but like most people wouldn't identify it as unusual. Just a name they'd never heard
But it's actually Greek just not one of the super recognizable ones. People have a horrible time trying to pronounce it
Which doesn't make much sense
It's very annoying. It has an “ea” at which makes people second guess if it's an “ay-uh” “or ”ee-uh“ or something else.
Everyone else is just stupid with it.
I've had it mispronounced so badly that the only identifiable same letter was the first one and MAYBE the last one.
Or they recognize it as Greek and slap a more 'familiar' name in it's place instead.
