Torchwood - The Conspiracy
For a first Torchwood episode in audio format, we're off to a great start!
It's a really rich format, and it's great to have moments of narration, podcasts, flashbacks and scenes in the present to flesh out the story.
The episode is adult, like the TV series, but in a much more mature way. No sex here, but conspiracy, paranoia and hard-hitting deaths. We follow heavy themes, such as marginal people who think they're above others by knowing “the truth” and who don't respect serious events that have happened by accusing conspiracy theorists. It's another way of doing Torchwood, which I enjoy just as much as the original version.
You get to know me, I love the lore, and I've been served with the creation of a secret organization that controls everything. There's a sort of paranoia at the end of the episode that anyone could be part of the Committee. There's enormous potential and the promise of a long-running battle between Torchwood and the Committee.
There are also a few elements of humor to contrast with all the darkness, which are by no means too much, particularly with Sam, the youngster who blogs about conspiracy theories.
In short, Big Finish has succeeded brilliantly in adapting the series to audio and delivering a striking first story.
I need more Torchwood in my life
I'm currently relistening to every torchwood audio drama and... omg they are so bad! So far, season 1 of main range + victorian age have an average rating of 5/10... But I can't stop loving them help what's wrong with meeeee 😭😭😭😭

Imagine: Nice morning with Jack.
Y/N woke up in empty bed, she looked around, looking for her boyfriend Jack. She got up and quietly walked to living room “Jack? Where are you?” Y/N asked
“In the kitchen.” Y/N heard his voice and quickly went to kitchen. Jack was making breakfast, He was wearing only his sweatpants and white t-shirt. Y/N hugged to Jack from behind and purred happily, inhaling his scent.
“Hey there, little one. I’m glad you are finally awake. How was your night?” Jack asked, smiling happily. Y/N giggled and walked to his side “Good…. Because I spent this night with my Captain.”
Jack laughed and kissed her nose “And I spent it with the most beautiful woman in this century.” He muttered and stroked her cheek gently, smiling happily “I love you, You know that?” He said quietly wrapping arm around Y/N’s small waist. She giggled and wrapped arms around his neck “I know, I love you too.” Jack nodded and kissed her forehead “Now, go to living room, breakfast will be served in few minutes.” Y/N nodded and quickly went to living room.
After breakfast Jack went back to bedroom to dress up and Y/N went to kitchen to clean after breakfast. After few minutes Jack slowly walked to her from behind and wrapped his strong arms around her “Did I ever told you how sexy you are?” Jack purred nuzzling to Y/N’s shoulder. She giggled and nodded “Yes, you did this many times…” Y/N said and turned around to wrap arm around his neck. Jack smiled and kissed Y/N passionately. She purred happily and kissed him back.
Jack growled softly and picked her up, He sat her down on the kitchen counter. Y/N whimpered softly and looked at him “Jack… You should go to work. You will be late.” Jack only laughed softly “No… Work can wait I have more important duties.” Y/N giggled and kissed him again, wrapping legs around his waist. Jack muttered happily, pushing his hands under Y/N’s shirt, suddenly He could hear his phone. He took his phone and looked at Y/N worried “They are calling… Go, See you after work.” Jack only nodded and kissed Y/N quickly, before leaving the flat.

Imagine: You comforting Jack after nightmare
You woke up when you felt moves in bed, You looked over your shoulder and saw your boyfriend Jack sitting on the end of the bed. He was covered in sweat breathing heavily. He was hiding his face in hands. You slowly sat up and moved closer to him, You slowly wrapped arms around him and hugged him “nightmare?” You asked quietly. Jack only nodded and rubbed your arms gently “Yeah… I hate nightmares.” He muttered. You sighed and got up from bed only to sit on Jack’s laps. Jack looked at you and sighed sadly, you only stroked his cheek. “I lost you in my dream. I know gonna lose you one day… I know I will, like everyone before… I… I don’t want it to happen… I.. I don’t want lose you… never…” He said and hugged you tight, nuzzling to your neck.
You good knew who Jack is, You knew everything about him and his past. You only sighed sadly and stroked his hair “I know Jack… But hey… Look at me.” You took his face into your hands and forced him to look at you “I’m still young… We gonna spend really long time together.”
Jack looked at you with his sad eyes, full of tears “You promise? You not gonna leave?” You shook your head and kissed his forehead “Never Jack… I will stay with you till my last day on earth.”
Jack nodded and kissed you passionately “Go back to sleep… I need to take shower now..” He whispered and stroked your back.
You nodded slowly and returned at your place in bed. You nuzzled to your pillow and sighed sadly. Jack returned to bed after few minutes. “You feel better now?” You asked quietly.
Jack put head on his pillow and nodded slowly, looking at you “Yes… Much better. I have the most wonderful woman by my side.” He said and pulled you closer, hugging you “Let’s go back to sleep.” He whispered.
You nodded and nuzzled to his chest “Good night, Jack.”
Jack smiled and kissed your head “Good night, Y/N. I love you.”
You smiled and closed your eyes. You both fall asleep quickly
