Summary: The not so wordless agreement that you and Jenson would someday end up together is thrown into turmoil when heâs invited to your proposal party
Word count: 4.4k
Warnings: none

The snow fell across the fields like a blanket, tucking each blade of grass in for a dream-filled nightâs sleep - it would usually be quiet this time of night, but the air was filled with the laughter of the children and teenagers alike who had begged their parents to take their sleds out and venture down the icy slopes. You yourself had been one of them, rapping your fists against the red wood of your neighbourâs door, rocking back and forth on your heels as you waited not so patiently for it to swing open.
âHi John!â You grinned. âCan Jense come out? I know itâs late but we havenât had snow like this in years and-â
John smiled and stepped aside, revealing Jenson sat at the bottom of their stairs - shoving his feet into his welly boots. âLooks like someone had the same idea as you, son.â
Jenson looked up from the black rubber of his boots to see his best friend - the tip of your nose and cheeks tinged pink, the pearly whites of your teeth lit up in a big grin. He matched it with a smile of his own, giving his Dad a quick hug before joining you out in the snow, taking your sled from you to carry over his own shoulder. You were wrapped in a big yellow coat, a hand-knitted scarf and a pair of gloves that looked a touch too big for your teenage hands - your boots already covered in a soft layer of snow from the small trek to get Jenson.
âDonât go too far, and be back by midnight!â John called out. âIâm sure your Mum told you the same, young lady.â
âYes, boss!â You laughed, arm locked tightly around Jenson's so as not to slip on the icy ground. Your best friend smiled down at you - leaning into you to share your warmth.
Jenson listened to you yap away about all the different things you could make out of snow that would be endlessly better than a snowman. He let his arm drop from yours, moving to loop around your waist so he could haul you in closer - using the cold as an excuse. You gestured towards the moving crowds up ahead.
âThe big hill just by the forest is where everyone is, itâs got the best spot for sledging.â
Jenson hummed softly, and you looked up at him. âYes, but I donât want to go sledding with everyone. I want to go sledding with you.â
Your nose wrinkled up in a playful disgust, earning a playful shove - a squeak leaving your lips as you nearly slipped on the icy tarmac beneath your feet, but you knew Jenson would never let you fall. His surprisingly strong arm stayed around your middle - holding you close to him. As you looked at him once again, your cheeks warmed - his blue eyes twinkling with mischief.
âYouâve gotta stop looking at me like that, you know what happened last time.â You grumbled, jabbing his waist - breaking eye contact.
Jenson raised a teasing brow. âAnd who said that would be the worst thing?â
âJenson.â You hissed quietly, not missing the girls who watched the two of you walking in the opposite direction to the rest of the town. You were well aware of the jealousy that sprung from your friendship with him - youâd been in his life since you were infants, but as the two of you had grown up - Jenson had quickly become established as one of the most handsome boys in school. âDonât say another word.â
âYou know I donât care what they think.â He grumbled. âI donât want themâŠâ
You looked up at him, the mischief in his eyes had since faded - replaced with a warm tenderness that you knew he had reserved for you. âJenseâŠâ
âI know, I know.â His sigh was wistful. âIâd give it all up for you, you know that.â
You took his face in your gloved hands, brushing your thumb across his cheeks. âI would never. Racing is your dream, and weâre only kids. Youâd hate me in the future for stopping you from chasing your dreams.â
He watched your gaze flutter across his face, trying to get a read on how he felt - but in his silence you spoke again.
âHey, if you've gone and got all those big racing dreams of yours⊠and you still want meâŠâ
Jensonâs hand came to rest on top of yours, gently removing it from his face so he could lace your fingers together. âIâll always want you.â
You laughed, although there was little humour in it. âJense, weâre only 16. When youâre an adult you may feel different, especially when youâve got all these beautiful women throwing themselves at you once youâve won a raceâŠ. I would be over the moon if you still wanted me but Iâm not going to be disappointed if your feelings change.â
He gave you a sad smile. ââŠIâll always want you.â
His forehead came to rest against yours, skin surprisingly warm despite the freezing temperatures. You went to protest again but his lips captured yours in a sweet kiss, you allowed yourself to indulge in a moment of weakness - letting your arms slide around his neck to keep him close.
Letting him go was the right thing to do, being hung up on a girl he knew back home was only going to hold him back. He deserved the right to explore and be free whilst he travelled the world, youâd never ask him to give that up.
Oh, but he wished you had.
He wished you had when he was invited back home after a race season nearly 12 years later by your mother, insisting he had to be at this party. Neither of you were 16 anymore - he was 28 years old, had just come 18th in the championship and felt absolutely miserable. But you? You seemed to be absolutely thriving.
Job of your dreams, beautiful home⊠and William. Fucking William.
The two of you had been together for almost 3 years now, he was some hot-shot CEO of his own company - money coming out of his ass, private jets, cars. And you knew he spoiled the shit out of you, every time you came to a race to support Jenson - William had insisted on paying for you to have the best experience, despite Jenson offering to do the whole lot for free.
And when he pulled up to the address your mother had given him, he thought his jaw was going to fall through the floor. Sure, heâd seen mansions in his time - but this was a whole different level.
It had a fucking maze in the garden for crying out loud. With a fountain in the middle? Who did this guy think he was? He reluctantly gave his car keys over to the valet, before following others inside - all of a sudden feeling drastically underdressed in his sports coat. He was more than grateful for the champagne that was offered to him as he desperately sought out someone, anyone he knew.
The two of you had grown up together, he thought you had the same friends but he couldnât recognise a single face. Despite the two of you staying in near constant contact, he suddenly felt like he really didnât know you at all. The girl he knew would scoff at all this, one of your favourite activities when you came to races past - before William - was making fun of all of the rich people, flaunting their wealth but now you were one of them.
He stepped out onto the back patio, eyes finally landing on your parents - chatting away without a care in the world, your father adorned with a watch and a diamond necklace draped across your mothers neck that he knew they couldnât afford.
âJenson! You made it!â Your Mumâs face lit up at the sight of him - she stepped away from the other couple she was with to wrap him up in a tight hug. âOh sheâs going to be so happy youâre here.â
âHave you seen her? I donât feel like I know anyone here.â He chuckled awkwardly, giving your Dad a hug as well.
âOh Iâm sure sheâs just making some finishing adjustments, we need her to look perfect.â She grinned.
Jenson frowned. âWhatâs the occasion?â
Your mum gasped. âOh, I was sure William would have told you!â
He resisted the urge to roll his eyes. âWilliam and I arenât exactly best mates. I think he only tolerates me because Iâve been around for so long.â
Jenson didnât miss the look your parents exchanged before your Mum placed a gentle hand on his forearm, giving him a sorry smile. âWilliam is proposing to her, love.â
In that moment, he couldâve sworn his heart stopped - he didnât know you and William were so serious. He always thought that he was just a distraction until the two of you were both in a place where you were ready to commit. It had almost happened when he got 3rd place back in 2004, but you were so close to a big promotion and you wanted to focus on that. You always wanted to be able to give the other your full 100%, be in a place in life where you were secure - maybe he shouldâve just said fuck it and let himself be selfish.
He wasnât mad at you for dating William, he could never be. But were you really about to marry him? The garden went quiet for a moment, so he looked over his shoulder.
You slowly walked down the stairs into the garden - a long dress in a deep blue hugging your figure, long sleeves to protect you from the cooler weather - a slit in the side allowed you to walk elegantly, your hand still resting against the cold stone of the railing. Jenson wasnât sure heâd ever seen you with such professional looking makeup, nails to match your dress too. Beneath the jealousy, he felt the urge to tease you - wind you up for becoming one of the posh people youâd always claimed to loathe.
But you looked nervous as you started greeting everyone - eyes flickering around the party, you looked beautiful too, of course, but he recognised the look on your face - heâd only seen it a few times through your life but this was probably the worst heâd seen it. Fear. Did you know what was happeningâŠ? And who were you looking for?
William practically led you around the party, his hand never straying from the small of your back - which Jenson could now see was nearly exposed from the low back of your dress, adding to the elegance of your look. Jenson considered going over, but he couldnât bring himself to do it. Instead, he loitered around your parents - not really letting himself join in on the conversation either, just keeping a watchful eye on you.
But that didnât last too long either, the clinking of a champagne glass and microphone feedback filled the garden.
âEvening all, thank you all for joining us.â William had led you to the middle of the patio, his hand still on the small of your back.
âIâm sure sheâs loving being the centre of attention like this.â He mumbled, earning a gentle elbow to the side from your mother. âTell me Iâm wrong.â
âOh, shush. You had your chance.â She snipped at him.
He went to protest but instead shook his head and turned back to the scene in front of him - you were fiddling with the tips of your fingers, trying to avoid eye contact with the onlooking crowd but still glancing up as if you were looking for someone. Is she looking for me?
âAs you know, Iâve been lucky to spend the last 3 years with this wonderful woman at my side.â William spoke with a confidence that demanded attention, Jenson wanted to tear his eyes away but he just couldnât. âShe came into my life at just the right time, and I canât wait to see where the rest of our time together takes us⊠soâŠâ
Your whole body froze as William sank to one knee, fishing a small velvet box from his suit pocket. âWilliamâŠâ
Jenson wasnât sure if anyone else heard the tone of your voice like him, or if heâd just made it up - but it sounded like a warning.
âWould you make me the happiest man alive, and do the honour of being my wife? Will you marry me?â
You risked looking at the crowd one final time, and when your eyes finally met the blue youâd been searching for - you practically felt the tension melt away. Jenson tilted his head a little, raising his brow - you didnât miss the way the corner of his mouth tugged up into a teasing smirk and you had to bite your lip to stop yourself from returning it. You didnât miss the way your heart skipped a beat at the sight of him, how in that moment you wanted nothing more than to rush across the garden and have him wrap you up in his arms.
ââŠwell?â
âOh.â You suddenly remembered the man currently on one knee in front of you. You tore your gaze away from Jenson to look down at him, a sorry smile on your face. ââŠIâm⊠Iâm really flattered, Will, I am. Uhm, maybe we can talk about this in private?â
The silence of the crowd was replaced with whispers, although he stood behind him - Jenson could see Williamâs entire body stiffen and his ears turn a dark pink with embarrassment. ââŠyeah, uh⊠yeah okay.â
William passed the microphone to someone before walking off, leaving you standing alone - you mumbled apologies to everyone before doing your best to catch up with him, holding the bottom of your dress so as not to trip over your heels. Jenson finally felt like he could breathe again; whilst everyone else was upset and shocked by the scandal before them - he felt relieved, you did still want him.
ââŠmaybe inviting you was a bad idea.â
Jenson looked to your mother, who was still staring straight ahead. âYou canât tell me you didnât know that there was a chance sheâd say no. This was her choice⊠this has nothing to do with me.â
She shot him a look. âI saw her face when she realised you were here, Jenson. You had your chance with her, why canât you let her move on?â
âIâve not had my chance with her⊠donât you see that? Iâve been waiting until I can give her the life she deserves and-â
âShe doesnât need to wait, William can give her that.â
Jenson scoffed. âThis isnât the life she wants⊠I know William wants her to quit her job and play the pretty little housewife but thatâs not who she is. You know that, I know that. And proposing to her in front of all these people? Most of whom Iâm not convinced sheâd even met before today? Her worst nightmare.â
âJenson.â
âYou didnât have to invite me⊠but you did.â He stood his ground. âIf you wanted this to happen then you shouldâve kept me in the dark, but you know deep down, just as well as I do, that William isnât the one for her. I love your daughter, more than he ever could.â
Before she could speak again, your father placed a hand on her shoulder - bringing her attention to him. âWhatâs done is done. Itâs her choice at the end of the day⊠and she didnât say no, they might be working it out as we speak.â
Your mother rolled her eyes. âYes honey, because thatâs how all happy marriages start - with an argument.â
As the two of them bickered back and forth, Jenson decided to make himself scarce and track you down - weaving through the crowds who were still speaking in hushed tones. Poor William. What was she thinking? How embarrassing.
He ignored them, pushing his way inside - listening out for the two of you and seemingly you hadnât gone far. A nearby door slightly ajar, a raised voice coming from inside.
âThis is so embarrassing! All of my friends are here!â
âAnd almost none of mine, William.â Your voice was a lot more level, calm. Jenson lent against the wall just outside of the room. âWhy did you not invite any of my friends?â
âThese are our friends.â He huffed, Jenson could hear him pacing back and forth. âGod, I just wanted today to be special - I got your parents here, fuck, I even got your mother to invite Jenson and you know how I feel about that prick.â
âHey.â You snapped. âKeep his name out of your mouth.â
William went deadly quiet, it was scary. Jenson was close to peeking around the corner to see what was happening, but then William spoke again.
âItâs him isnât it? Itâs always going to be him.â
Your sigh spoke a thousand words, and this time Jenson did risk looking into the room - just to see the look on your face at your boyfriendâs accusation. You didnât look sad, you didnât look angry⊠you had a look of acceptance. You stepped closer to him, placing a gentle hand on his bicep.
âIâm sorry, I never meant to hurt youâŠâ Your voice was soft, practically laced with honey. âI love you, William⊠but JensonâŠâ
Jenson waited with bated breath to hear your next words - youâd told him before how you felt about him, but this was different. You didnât know he was there - you had no reason to be gentle with your choice of words. He turned back away from the room, head rolled back against the wall - he allowed his eyes to close.
âHe makes me not want to sleep because being with him makes reality better than my dreams⊠Home is wherever he is.â Your voice was practically a whisper, as if you knew your words would sting if they were any louder. âI just donât think I could love anyone in the same way as I love him. I⊠I was selfish with you.â
âI was selfish too.â He admitted, his hand coming up to cup your jaw - thumb brushing across your cheek. âI shouldâve just let you be with him. I always knew where your heart truly wasâŠâ
âWilliam, this isnât your fault. Please, donât blame yourself for this⊠all of this is on me.â
âI should go. I love you.â
âI love you too.â You whispered. âIâm sorry, you deserve better.â
Jenson froze as he heard the sounds of shoes tapping against the floor, there was no way he could get away without being spotted - so he just accepted his fate, he took a deep breath. The footsteps paused in front of him and he opened his eyes to meet the sorrowful gaze of William. âTreat her well, yeah?â
âI promise. Iâm sorry it ended like this, man.â He forced a smile. âBest of luck to you?â
William held his hand out and Jenson shook it, pressing his lips into a line. âYou too mate. Sorry for keeping her from you all these years.â
With a gentle pat on Jensonâs shoulder, William left to go sate the crowds - leaving your childhood friend alone in the corridor. He took one deep inhale before stepping into the room - your back was to him, as you looked out the tall window, presumably to watch your ex(?) boyfriend subdue all of his friends.
âJust me and you, under the cover of night⊠in the forest on that cute mossy stone bridge across the river. The one you like to throw pebbles in.â
You looked over your shoulder with a coy smile. âSorry?â
âThatâs how Iâm gonna do it.â He shrugged, stepping up behind you - strong hands coming to settle on your hips, pressing a soft kiss to your shoulder. âNothing fancy like all this.â
He relished in the way your cheeks flushed. âThat sounds wonderful, Jense⊠I canât wait.â
âNot much longer, I promise.â He whispered, this time kissing just behind your ear. âIâd propose to you right now if we werenât literally at your engagement party.â
You laughed, turning in his arms. âTomorrow then?â
He couldnât help the smile on his face. âTomorrow it is.â
***
Your feet crunched against the snowy ground, nose and cheeks tinged pink as you made the walk from your flat to Jensonâs house - the roads were too icy to drive and youâd always loved the snow, so walking was the easy choice. You smiled softly as you walked through your old neighbourhood, kids laughing and throwing snowballs, parents peeking through the curtains to watch on.
It didnât surprise you that Jenson had spent some of his earnings to buy a small home here - it was one of his favourite places in the world, yours too. You rapped your gloved hands against the door, rocking back and forth on your heels as you waited.
As soon as it opened, you were wrapped up in Jensonâs arms - a kiss placed on your cold forehead before he stepped out to join you, locking the door behind him. âCanât believe itâs snowing.â
âI know, especially since it was so sunny yesterday.â You hummed, looping your arm around his. âWhere are we going?â
He gave you a soft smile. âDo you not remember the plans we made yesterday?â
âO-oh.â You giggled. âYeah, yeah I remember.â
âGood.â Jenson pressed a soft kiss to your temple. âThen letâs go.â
âWait.â You stopped him walking to take his face in your hands, pressing a kiss to his lips. âI love you.â
âI love you.â His voice was practically a whisper. âWe donât have to do this today⊠you literally just broke up with William.â
You tilted your head, giving him a sweet smile - brushing your thumbs across his cheeks. âI want this. I want you.â
His grin was almost bright enough to melt the snow around you, he took your hand in his and the two of you began the journey - careful to avoid any icy patches, holding each other close for balance. Jenson took the time to give you a full catch up of his next season, Honda had pulled out due to financial issues so Ross Brawn had bought the team and they were starting from what felt like nothing - a big risk, they werenât⊠well anything. But he had faith, he had to. After coming 18th, what did he have to lose?
You had nothing but adoration for him in his career, no matter where he ended up - you felt foolish for letting each other put your career ahead of your relationship. You knew you were capable of getting your career goals with Jenson by your side, but you always feared heâd have resented you if youâd somehow got in the way of him getting the wins he deserved.
But as you stepped into the forest, the frozen stream sparkling beneath the bridge - none of your worries seemed to matter anymore. Jenson took both of your hands in his and carefully led you onto the bridge, careful not to slip as he walked backwards. âYour trousers will get wet if you kneel, Jense.â
âWorth it.â He grinned. âI know this isnât a surprise, but you got to promise to let me get through what I have to say, okay?â
âPromise.â You hummed, taking a deep breath, giving his hands a squeeze.
You bit your lip as he got on his knees, keeping his gloved hands wrapped around yours. âWhere do I even start?â
âMight be a bit long if you start at the beginning.â You teased.
âHey, what did I say?â He hushed, narrowing his eyes playfully at you. âOkay⊠honestly, I donât think thereâs any words that could truly describe just how much I love you, but Iâm going to try my best.â
He almost couldnât get the words out with the way you were looking at him - a gentle sparkle in your eyes as you held back the tears, the softest of smiles on your lips. He took a deep breath.
âYouâre my best friend, my soulmate⊠I literally cannot remember a life before you and I donât ever want to picture my life without you. I wish I could specify the exact moment in time I knew you were the person I wanted to spend the rest of time with, but it was gradual, all consuming. Youâre my first thought when I wake up, my last thought before I fall asleep and you fill all of my best dreams.â
He let go of your hands to remove his gloves and yours from your left hand. âI donât care that my career isnât where I want it to be. My biggest regret is simply that I didnât do this sooner⊠I want us to achieve our dreams together. I want us to grow and change together.â
The tears were freely rolling down your cheeks and as he pulled a small black box out of his coat pocket, you felt like you couldnât breathe. How you felt in this moment was polar opposite to how you had felt when it was William on one knee in front of you - you felt safe, loved⊠Jenson was all youâd ever wanted.
âSo, my love, Iâm sorry Iâm not the first man to ask you this⊠but I hope to be the last.â He opened up the box, a beautiful ring inside. âWill you marry me?â
You nodded faster than you ever had. âYes, oh my god, yes.â
Jenson grinned, and you let him slide the ring onto your finger - and you took a moment to admire it, recognising it as his Grandmotherâs, a ring that had been promised to you by her when you were no older than 8 and now it was really on your finger. You looked to your fiancĂ©, who was now standing with an expectant look on his face.
âYou gonna kiss me or what?â You purred, running your hands up his chest.
âDonât have to ask me twice, baby.â
He only gave himself a moment to grin before kissing you with a new vigour - when you brought your hands up to hold his face again, he could feel the press of your ring against his skin and it made his heart race. He pulled back just enough to nudge his nose against yours.
âI told you before and Iâll tell you until the end of time⊠Iâll always want you.â
âââ⻠·â· â»âââ
Hope you enjoyed!
This is really a birthday present for myself cus Iâm fully in my Jenson era but I hope you all like it â„ïž
â only way.

requested?: yes! by a friend.

Jenson usually always had what to say. He was quick-witted, and leaving him speechless was something that rarely happened.
However, when you pulled him by the belt and torturously grazed her lips against his, barely touching it, his mouth formed a small circle, and there he stood, pathetically trying to organize his thoughts and say something about it.
He tried to mumble something. A compliment, a bad word, anything. But nothing came out.
So he just smashed his lips against yours, hungrily, holding your waist, feeling every inch of your body against his fingertips. He pulled you closer and closer, pressing his body against yours and getting overwhelmed with the desire you awakened in him when he felt you smile in the kiss.
âYouâll be the death of me.â He mumbled, his words being muffled by your lips, which he refused to part away from.
The belt you pulled was soon on the floor, and his hands traveled around your body. He couldnât get enough of you, and it was pathetic how much he still tried.
He pulled the zipper from your dress down and watched the fabric sliding down your body, muttering swears under his breath. He would never get used to how beautifully sculpted your body was.
âShould I stop, then?â You breathed out. âI wouldnât want to kill you.â
âOh, baby, donât worry.â He said, trailing kisses around your neck. âItâs the only way I would want to go.â

Summary - Dad!Jenson x wife!reader - where you bring your daughters to their first race and Jenson is determined to do his best.
Warnings - none, short and sweet, pure fluff
Word count - 1.2k

Spa was always one of the best tracks to race at - the atmosphere was unlike any other, and - thankfully - the chance of rain was slim. And this weekend was arguably the most important race weekend of Jensonâs career so far - sure it wasnât for a championship win, but it was the very first race that his daughters would be attending and he was determined to make them proud.
They knew their daddy was a race car driver, but theyâd never seen it themselves, youâd both agreed to wait until they were at least confidently walking before bringing them to a race and now aged 2 and 4, it was time for Isabelle and Ava to come to see him drive.
He wasnât sure if he was more excited or if they were, both of them practically bouncing off of the walls in excitement when he asked them if they wanted to come watch. Heâd been sure to pick up some of the smallest merch he could find - wanting his girls to be in his colours as the 4 of you walked through the paddock together.
Ava clung to his shirt as he carried her on his hip, looking around curiously at all the sights - whilst Isabelle was more than happy enough to explore on her own two feet, asking lots of questions. Jenson couldnât help but feel pride and joy blooming in his chest as he finally got to spend time with his 3 favourite girls in the world in his favourite place.
âOh hey! I wasnât expecting the full button clan this weekend.â Lewis grinned, crouching to give Isabelle a high five before offering one to Ava who giggled shyly - patting her little hand against his. âWhat do we owe the pleasure?â
âWell, we thought theyâre both old enough now and it coincided with a weekend that my gorgeous wife could take some time off work.â Jenson hummed, smiling softly at you. âAnd imagine being able to say that Spa was their first race, thatâs pretty cool.â
Lewis smiled. âWho are you girls rooting for this weekend? Is it me?â
Isabella stuck her nose up a little. âNo! Daddy, of course!â
âDuh, that was a silly question wasnât it?â He chuckled. âSee you all later, yeah?â
âSay bye to Lewis, Ava.â He whispered, bouncing the toddler in his arms a little - encouraging the toddler to wave.
âBye Lew!â She grinned. âRace fast! Not fast as daddy, please.â
Jenson helped the three of you set up in the back of the garage - ear protectors comfortably over each of your ears, Ava now in your arms and Isabelle perched comfortably so she had a good view of the screens. He pressed kisses to each of your foreheads before heading off to get race ready.
He always raced better when you came to see him - 2009 was proof enough of this, youâd met the year prior and suddenly everything seemed to fall into place for him. And whilst another championship may not be within his reach like it had been before, he wouldnât stop at anything to try and make his babies proud of him this weekend.
So when he put the car in P1 for qualifying, seeing your proud faces at the barrier was proof enough to him that he needed to repeat the performance tomorrow. Your gentle whispers of love for him in your shared bed that evening, telling him just how happy his girls were to see him do well - praising him between kisses.
âIâm gonna win for them tomorrow.â He hummed softly, taking your jaw in his hand as you laid, side by side. âWant our girls to see me win⊠be proud of me.â
You cooed softly. âJense, theyâd be proud of you no matter what. Youâre always going to be the coolest dad in the world to them.â
âI mean⊠I am the coolest Dad.â He grinned, earning a playful roll of your eyes and a kiss goodnight. âI love you.â
âI love you.â
It wasnât a particularly sunny day for a race, but it was comfortable and the endless piles of raincoats you had brought with you were now unnecessary. The girls both donned in their Dadâs merch - Isabelleâs blonde hair braided, a little red bow at the end, swaying as she skipped along and Avaâs tucked away beneath a cap, her head once again rested against Jensonâs shoulder as she dozed.
He almost didnât want to put her down - loving the feeling over her in his arms. âDaddyâs got to get in the car, princess.â
âMâcomfy.â She yawned. âBut okay⊠Mummy?â
âHey, Iâve got you.â You hummed softly, taking her from your husband. âIâll wake you when the race is about to start okay?â
Jenson smiled fondly - giving his little family one more glance before heading out for the race. Whilst he always felt motivated before any race, there was something about knowing the three of you were watching in the garage that gave him that extra kick up the ass to do his best. He rolled his helmet over in his hands, smiling at the girls names he had printed on the carbon fibre before pulling it over his head and sliding into the car.
You could feel your heart racing in your chest as the race immediately started with a messy incident - Maldonado jumping the start turned into a multi-car incident, but thankfully Jenson managed to keep his nose clean and lead the race the whole way through.
As he climbed out of the car, he didnât even hesitate to run over to the barriers to sweep the three of you into his arms - his heart racing.
âYou did it, Daddy! You won!â Isabelle giggled.
It was Avaâs turn to cheer next, her little fists balled up in Jensonâs race suit. âYaaaay, Daddy!â
He pulled back just enough to look at the three of you, his eyes crinkled up in a smile through his open visor. Jenson pulled his helmet over his head and gave you a chaste kiss. âI love you girls⊠so much. Thank you for being here today.â
âGo get your trophy, weâll be right here.â You hummed softly, somehow effortlessly balancing a daughter on each hip. âThen the celebration dinner is on me.â
ââŠand dessert?â He smirked, raising a brow - leaning a hand on the barrier - eyes only for you, twinkling with mischief.
But before you could scold him the girls both squealed in excitement. âDaddyyy! We want dessert too!â
âSee what youâve done?â You laughed. âSeriously, get out of here!â
He returned your laugh before heading up to do just that - this trophy was like no either; it wasnât his first, it wasnât for a championship win⊠but as the national anthem played over the crowds, the feeling of being able to look down and see the three of you smiling up at him was like no either. His chest felt warm and fuzzy, he absolutely loved racing and finally getting to share it with his girls was a dream come true.
I love you. He mouthed, relishing the way your smile brightened.
I love you too.
He was brought out of his almost trance-like state as Sebastian sprayed him down with champagne, the German gripping his bicep as he lent into whisper. âCongrats man, canât imagine the night youâre in for with the way your wife was looking at you.â
Jenson laughed, giving him a playful shove before returning the spray of the sparkling drink.
He took one more glance over the podium at the three of you, grinning as the girls waved up at him once more. Definitely his favourite podium ever.

Jenson wasn't sure if y/n was brought in to purposely get under Danica's skin the way Danica gets under his skin. But it's safe to say the public has deemed Jenson and y/n the sex appeal of watching Sky Sports.
Y/n is actually very knowledgable on the sport and with the exception of Danica, gets along very well with the team.
"Sorry, I think I'm going to have to disagree with you, Danica." Y/n states as what has become now a famous line of the weekend and it's still only Friday.
Jenson has already begun to find himself smiling every time y/n speaks while not being able hide his grimace whenever Danica speaks.
They cut the segment and before the group can divide, Danica seems to have hit a boiling point with y/n.
"I'm surprised you're getting away with wearing the outfits you do. They're quite skimpy. What are you trying to attract some of the drivers?" Danica comments seeming to try and make it a joke but y/n frowns not hiding her offended reaction while Jenson goes to speak in the young woman's defence. But y/n beats him to it.
"What about my outfit is skimpy exactly?-Actually, don't answer that. Consider this strike 1, 2 more strikes and I'll take you straight to HR, your hand in mine and I'll have you repeat every out of line comment you've opened your mouth to make." Y/n states then scoffing. "And for the record, if I was trying to attract the drivers. You'd know about it."
That's true. If y/n set her eyes on a driver, Jenson is pretty sure she could have her pick. Maybe of even a couple of the drivers who are in a relationship.
Really her outfit isn't skimpy, she's wearing almost an outfit that's mourning-worthy. Black heels, tight and sort of a short skirt with a slightly oversized blazer with a white blouse under the blazer. Truth be told, the appeal of her is more than she's a gorgeous woman who dresses well, is young and looks good on tv. She's styled well, she's confident, and not afraid to share her opinions which do tend to disagree with Danica but they're well founded opinions.
Y/n is minimal and classy with an undertone of sexiness that might be easy to be distract by.
Today she's wearing full black tights but yesterday something that had every mans attention was stockings with ever so slightly visibly suspenders that were clipped on to keep her stockings up.
Carlos, Lando, Pierre and Logan were all caught in HD slow-mo staring and doing double takes of the young woman.
Danica seems to get the hint that her presence isn't wanted so she takes off and y/n scoffs rolling her eyes and shaking her head.
"Remind me to never cross you." Jenson comments making y/n turn and smile.
"I don't think you'd have the audacity to make a comment like that unprovoked." Y/n sighs before she smiles at him. "I don't think I've earned a spot in your bad books yet, have I?"
"No. No. I think you might be my favourite person to work with already." Jenson smiles watching her seem to get a little flustered at his words. "Wait, was that a crack in the confidence that I seen?"
"I-As if." Y/n scoffs in a quick recovery, shaking it off quickly.
"You hungry? We should grab some food before we're pulled into more recording." Jenson states making y/n smile and nod.
Sitting down together, y/n does gain some attention from other commentators from other broadcasters. But eventually the two are left on their own and y/n sighs deciding to speak of the elephant in the room.
"You know, you should try masking your expression when Danica speaks. Especially if you're going to look so happy whenever someone else is speaking." Y/n comments leaning back in her seat as she cross on leg over the other making her skirt slide up a little. Something he shouldn't notice but he does and he has to force his gaze away. This woman is nearly 20 years younger than him. He can't be the old perv who has wondering eyes.
And for some reason there's something in Jenson wishing she was wearing the stocking and suspender duo for the outfit today.
"I am happier whenever someone else is speaking." Jenson states honestly then shrugging. "I don't even know why they've still got her here when they've brought you in. You add much more to the conversation and you look good doing it."
Y/n doesn't say much back, just looking down with a small smirk before she shrugs a little.
"So humble." Jenson laughs while she finally looks up then clears her throat as her phone goes off.
"Oh...Fun. Apparently I'm being paired with Danica for more stuff-oh haha! You are too." Y/n grins watching the man look at her with a grin.
"I'll just stand and watch the two of you bicker."
"I'm not that bad."
"You've said the sentence sorry, I think I'm going to have to disagree with you, Danica at least 5 times since yesterday and we've not been on air that much." Jenson laughs while she grins at the man before placing her phone back down and picking up a chip from her plate.
"I'm not that bad...I just think it's important we all voice our opinion if it's not on the same understanding." Y/n smiles earning a look form Jenson while she just flashes her a teeth in a smile.
-
Y/n and Jenson eating meals together in the paddock and just sort of gluing themselves to one another was beginning to be a habit for the two and it was a habit others were beginning to notice.
"Wait, wait. Don't leave me." Y/n gasps when the cameras cut and Jenson seems to take off since she'd said something that disagreed with him only slightly. "Jenson..."
Now she's just doing it on purpose. Whining his name has an unnecessary effect.
"I'm sorry." Y/n pouts making him slow his fast pace away. He wasn't really mad but he did maybe just want to tear him. "You left me with Danica."
"Consider it payback." Jenson states as he turns finding her looking up at him as they stand face to face.
"I'm sorry." Y/n pouts again and it takes every fibre of Jenson's being to maintain the self control not to close the space between them.
He feels like a teenager with a crush. He's a grown man for fuck sake and this woman is making him melt.
"You're forgiven." Jenson declares making her perk up and damn her because the brightness in her eyes actually makes his heart skip a beat.
"Are we intruding?" A sly smiling Lando questions as he passes by making y/n flush stepping away.
Truth be told, y/n is more successfully hiding an unshaken childhood crush on Jenson. She's be fighting the urge to climb on the man any time he sits down.
No doubt he sees her as a child, probably a mentor and mentee situation. Not that that's what she's going for.
Lando has already disappeared since he really was passing by and making a comment which he thinks needed to be made to point out that everyone is beginning to notice the tension between them.
Suddenly it dawns on y/n and she decides it's time to stop being shy about it.
"So what are you doing tonight?" Y/n asks making Jenson literally do a double take looking very shocked. "Just...usually I do nothing but go back to my hotel room and do nothing."
"Are you...asking me on a date, y/n y/l/n?" Jenson smirks looking like the playboy that he's quite famous for in his only slightly younger years.
"Would you...say yes if it was a date?" Y/n mumbles feeling the drop in her confidence because she wasn't exactly expecting him to call her out so obviously, or loudly.
"Yes."
Oh thank fuck.
"Then yes."
-
Y/n likes to think that she's got quite a dark feminine energy, she's not the doe eyed golden retriever type of girl. She's the siren eyes black cat.
But on a date with Jenson he's described her as cute and funny and even made a comment about her adding light to the otherwise dim room. He's charming and certainly knows how to converse on a date.
"So I have to know, when did I become so irresistible that you had to ask me on a date?" Jenson asks, the teasing mischief behind his eyes making her flush. This man just brings out a side she wishes she could hide but it's no use with him.
"Just living the dream. Meeting you was the whole goal when I decided to pursue sports journalism." Y/n shrugs making Jenson smirk. "Don't get cocky. I could still team up against you with Danica."
"That's a lie." Jenson laughs shaking his head while y/n grin at him.
"Ok, maybe that is a lie. I don't think I could ever try to befriend her. The amount of fans who call me out online and say they would do what I do." Y/n shrugs then picking up her glass of pink gin and lemonade.
"I love it. I think you are the best commentator we've had added to the team in years." Jenson shrugs making her beam at him. "I'll be pushing for them to keep you. Even if they drop me."
"As if they'd choose to drop Jenson Button, F1 world champion 2009 from the team." Y/n jokes before sighing and smiling as she sits back in her seat. "I think I dreamt about having a date like this for years."
"Here I am, making dreams come true." Jenson hums earning a laugh. "I would return the gesture but you're not an F1 champion."
"Wow...That's a violation. My feelings are hurt now."
"Oh sounds like I've got some grovelling to do."
-
There was no hints throughout the weekend, Jenson and y/n silently agreed to sort of take things slowly. Which is exactly what they did. They took things slowly and after a couple months of dating and building the perfect dynamic, which was really built after the first date.
Y/n decided it was time for a soft launch ahead of COTA.
She chose a mirror selfie what hide his face but there was definitely enough on show that it wasn't exactly a hard to tell it was Jenson.
Her comments were a blaze with his name and even a couple drivers along with many within F1 sent her messages some asking flat out and some just question marks searching for answers.
But she didn't reply and only decided to let their entrance in the paddock speak for itself.
Jenson quite enjoys the fact he is openly able to somewhat lay his claim. Y/n is a woman who could have her pick of people, and while people can say he's a man who can have his pick too. His pick was y/n and there was a chance she might not have reciprocated it.
Y/n definitely isn't expecting the very public kiss with one hand up cupping her face but Jenson feels her smiling against his lips and her face is definitely heating up under his hand.
"Well if I didn't send a message, you just hard launched a confirmation." Y/n whispers breaking the kiss while Jenson grins down at her.
"Can't I kiss you when you look so good?"
"Oh so usually I don't look good?" Y/n teases earning a groan a little.
"Trust you to twist my words." Jenson laughs then pecking her lips again. "You look good everyday. That's why I've been kissing your everyday."
"Mmm...good recovery."
"I try." Jenson smirks making her laugh before she steals a kiss this time then spins, linking their hands and beginning to walk very confidently through the paddock. Though they come across Martin, Danica and Crofty, all of whom look surprised to say the least.
After a small conversation, of which none of them address the obvious till Danica does pipe up. Unable to keep a petty comment to herself.
"You weren't wrong, we really do know when you're trying to attract someone."
"Well...I'm doing a bit more than attract Jenson." Y/n shoots back smoothly while Jenson looks at her fairly proudly and smug. "But I'm glad you can pick up on it. I know sometimes you struggle with seeing the obvious when it's right in front of you."
Martin and Crofty both pull expressions that are a combination of shock and maybe mildly impressed.
"Anyway, we're going to grab lunch. See you guys later for the broadcast."
