You were furious.
You had just came home after a long day at work, just ready to see your boyfriend, and instead, you were met with a lousy handwritten note that read: staying with the boys 2nite. call me if theres an emergency. btw, u really hurt me. lets talk tomorrow night. (ps: i still love u, even when ur being a brat) — jinnie
You were filled with complete and utter confusion first. You didn’t understand why he was so hurt, or what you had did to hurt his feelings. Then, you were angry because you two had promised to never leave and stay somewhere else in the middle of an argument (which, to be honest, you didn’t even know you were having at the moment).
“No,” You shook your head, stomping towards the door. You slid your shoes on and grabbed your keys, throwing your hood over your head. “Fuck no.”
You arrived at the dorm within minutes, not hesitating to bang at the door. Yugyeom stood on the other side, staring with wide eyes at you. He had never seen you so angry. “Y-Y/N? What’s wrong?” He asked. However, you were too angry to hold a converation.
“Where the fuck is he?” You scowled, throwing off your shoes and shoving your keys in the pocket of your hoodie.
“H-He’s playing a video game with some of the boys in Jackson-hyung’s room.” Yugyeom spoke softly, making you nod gratefully, ruffling his hair before shuffling past him.
You didn’t knock this time. You just opened the door and looked at the three men laughing with each other, their attentions focused on the TV in front of them. It was Jaebum who noticed you first. “Hey, Y/N! I didn’t know you were coming over.” He smiled at you, causing the rest of the boys to turn to you.
You, however, were only focused on Jinyoung. He sighed softly, setting his console down to usher you out of the room. Once the two of you were alone together in the bathroom, he stared down at you in disappointment. “What are you doing here? I told you we were going to talk tomorrow. It’s late, Y/N.”
“Talk about what? That’s the thing! I don’t even know why you’re upset, or what I did to you. I can’t sleep knowing your feelings are hurt because of me.” You whispered the last part with a small pout, crossing your arms across your chest.
Jinyoung sighed once again, rubbing at his forehead before sitting on the closed toilet seat. “You really don’t know?” He asked, looking up at you. You shook your head. “Of course you don’t.” He muttered under his breath, causing you to scoff.
“What the hell is that supposed to mean?” You asked, throwing your hand up at him. He rolled his eyes, holding his hands up in defeat.
“Nothing. Just forget it,” Jinyoung stood up, pushing himself past you and making his way to the door. He turned back around to look at you one more time before leaving. “Now go home. It’s late, and you need to go to sleep. You have work tomorrow.”
“Stop! Come here and talk to me!” You whisper-yelled, grabbing the hand that was about to unlock the bathroom door. You dragged him back into the bathroom, dropping his hand and crossing your arms again.
“I said we’ll talk about it tomorrow.” Jinyoung spoke firmly, looking deep into your eyes. You gulped and you shuffled in your spot, feeling somewhat uncomfortable under his strong gaze. “Go home, Y/N.”
“Look, you may enjoy leaving me during an argument, but I don’t feel comfortable with it,” You growled, making his eyes darken with anger. “Now quit being a little bitch and talk to your fucking girlfriend.”
Jinyoung scoffed, making your blood boil. “Girlfriend?” He laughed, making your stomach churn. “Did you just call yourself my girlfriend?”
Tears began to burn at the back of your eyes, but you held your ground. “Yes.” was all you could choke out without your voice breaking.
“I’m sorry, but what kind of girlfriend stands their boyfriend up for the sixth time in a fucking month? Because as far as I know, girlfriends don’t fucking do shit like that.” He growled back, finger inches away from your face as he accused you. “Well, not a good one anyway.”
Your heart broke at his words, and your guard dropped. Your arms fell to your side and tears began to fall immediately. “What?” You whispered.
Jinyoung sighed, sitting back down onto the toilet. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. It’s just... you keep forgetting our dates and you don’t even realize it. I was so excited for tonight. I’ve been planning it for weeks. I waited for two hours— two hours, Y/N. You never came. You were still at work. So I just left you that note and came here so I could distract myself.”
You took a shaky breath in before wiping at your face. “I-I’m so sorry. I didn’t.. I never meant to forget about you or hurt you in any way. I just— we’ve just been so busy lately and everybody just keeps asking me to cover their shifts and I know they have important things to do, so I just—”
“That’s just it! They may have important things going on, but so do you! You have a life too, Y/N. We have a life. You can’t keep putting others before you or it’s going to tear you and our relationship apart.” Jinyoung explained softly, being careful with his word choices when he noticed how much you were crying.
Jinyoung walked closer to you, wrapping his hands around your waist and pushing your body to his.
“You and your health matters. Our relationship matters. Stop caring about what others think and stop wanting to please everybody, okay? Just focus on making yourself happy and everything else will start to work out by itself.”

This was the third fight you’ve had with your twelve year old daughter this week. You had only asked her to help you with the dishes, yet she blew up on you like you had asked her to help you murder somebody. “I mean, for fucks sake! Why is she being so mean lately? She’s never been like this before.” You sighed in frustration.
“I don’t know, baby. Maybe she’s just going through something at school.” Your boyfriend suggested, shrugging at you softly while he folded the laundry beside you. “I think you should just ask her— talk to her, you know? I think it’ll help.”
Taking up Jinyoung’s advice, you called your daughter into your son’s bedroom to talk. You sat in the rocking chair in the corner while you breastfed your son, rolling your eyes jokingly when your daughter covered her eyes with a groan. “Mom! Come onnnn.”
“Oh hush and get in here,” You laughed. “We need to talk.”
She obeyed, shutting the door behind her and sitting on the floor in silence. She grabbed one of her brother’s toys to play with nervously, listening to you as you began. “Are you okay, honey? Because lately you’ve been acting really weird and Jinyoung and I are worried about you.”
You frowned at the eyeroll she did when you mentioned your boyfriend, gulping down your obvious hurt. “I’m fine,” She sighed. “Can we just talk about this later? This is.. weird.”
“What’s weird?” You furrowed your eyebrows.
“Your boobs are out, mom.” She deadpanned, making you laugh. You rolled your eyes at her, tapping her slightly with your foot, earning a small smile from her.
“This is natural. You should be happy your brother is healthy and getting all of his nutrients,” You joked. Your daughter giggled a little before shrugging and dropping her smile. You sighed. “Alright, kiddo. Talk to me. What’s on your mind?”
She sighed and threw her head back, allowing it to softly hit the crib behind her. “It’s hard to explain. You wouldn’t understand.” She mumbled, making you frown.
“Well I can try.” You tried softly. She shook her head and tossed the toy across the room, going to stand up. “Baby, come back here. Just talk to me!” You called after her as she rushed to the door.
“Just leave me alone.” She whimpered, swinging the door open and accidentally bumping into Jinyoung, who just so happened to be walking in the hallway when she began to walk out.
“Oop— Sorry, sweetheart. Are you o—” Jinyoung started, getting interrupted by your daughter’s frustrated yell and stomps down the hall. He furrowed his eyebrows and walked into his son’s nursery. “Is she alright?”
You sighed, shrugging. “I don’t know. She won’t talk to me,” You whispered through tears. “I don’t know what to do.”
“Don’t give up, baby. I know it’s hard, but it’s obvious she needs you right now. Here, go try again and I’ll put him to bed.” Jinyoung nodded towards the sleeping boy latched onto your breast. You nodded through sniffles, allowing him to pull him away from you as you fixed your top.
You looked up to see your boyfriend staring at your chest with red cheeks, gulping harshly. You rolled your eyes and patted his chest softly. “My eyes are up here, babe.” You teased, pressing a small kiss to his cheek before you left the room to find your daughter.
You assumed she was in her bedroom, knocking on the door softly. “G-Go away!” She sobbed on the other side, making your heart ache. You ignored her pleas, letting yourself into the room.
“It’s okay, I’m right here,” You hushed, rushing to her and pulling her into your chest. “Talk to me, baby. Tell mommy what’s wrong.”
“I just—” She stopped herself, tensing up before taking a deep breath. You rubbed her back in an attempt to soothe her. “Can I see daddy?”
Her words made your breath hitch in your throat. “Baby, I don’t think—”
“Please,” She begged, pulling away to look up at you. Your heart broke when you made eye contact with her— her eyes were red and swollen with tears spilling from them uncontrollably. “I’m ready. I want to see him; I need to.”
You closed your eyes, trying to hold back your tears as you let her words sink in. “Mommy. Please.” She begged once more before you were nodding, making her break out into a teary smile.
“Okay. Tomorrow I’ll take you to see daddy.” You agreed, bringing her into a tight hug as you both rocked back and forth.
After a few more minutes, you kissed her goodnight and tucked her into bed. You walked into your bedroom with an anxious heart, shutting the door behind you. “How’d it go? Is she okay now?” Jinyoung asked softly from his spot on the bed, his eyes trailing over your figure as you began to change out of your clothes.
“She wants to see her dad.” You said lowly, voice shaking with worry. Jinyoung’s eyes widened at the sudden words, taken aback. He muted the TV and sat up, leaning against the headboard. “I told her yes. I’m taking her tomorrow.”
“Are you sure she’s ready?” He whispered, gulping when he watched you undo your bra and slide on one of his T-Shirts.
“I mean, I honestly don’t know, but she says she is.” You sighed, tossing your clothes into the dirty hamper.
“Well then you just gotta trust her. If she says she is, then maybe she is.” Jinyoung comforted, wrapping his arms around you once you were laying beside him in bed. “It’s going to be okay, baby. She’ll be okay.”
A part of you hoped she would forget about the whole thing by tomorrow, but you knew she wouldn’t. She couldn’t. She was more than excited to see her father after six years, even if she wasn’t actually going to see him physically.
You watched as she rushed towards the specific grave upon arrival, her small hands running themselves over the indentation of her father’s name. You looked at Jinyoung with a small smile, making him nod encouragingly at you. You sighed and handed your son off to your boyfriend before catching up with your daughter, leaving the two boys behind beside the car.
“Is this what you’ve been so upset about? Missing your dad?” You asked curiously, sitting beside her on the freshly mowed grass with your hands in your sweatshirt pocket.
Your daughter sighed, her heart aching at the sight of ‘loving father’ written underneath of his name. “Well, that and Jinyoung,” She muttered, making you freeze in confusion. “I like him, but.. I just feel like it’s unfair to daddy. I don’t know, I just feel like I’m betraying him somehow.”
Your heart dropped and you sighed heavily, leaning forward to grab at your daughter and pull her onto your lap. “Baby,” You started. “Daddy would want me to move on, want me to be happy. He loves the both of us too much to let us sit together in sorrow. He loves me and wants me to have a good man, and he loves you and wants you to have a good father figure. I know it’s hard, but I promise you, he is happy for us.”
She nodded sadly at your words, her small hand rubbing at her wet cheeks. “I’m sorry, mommy.”
“Don’t be. I understand. It’s hard. But if it wasn’t for Jinyoung, your brother wouldn’t be here. Mommy wouldn’t be in love, or as happy as she is. You wouldn’t have a good stepdaddy to take care of you and shower you with love. I think daddy chose him to take care of us while he was gone, princess. We just have to trust him.”
She nodded in agreement, her voice shaking with sobs. “Here,” You whispered, digging into your pocket. “I brought this to give to you. I’ve been keeping it in a special place until now.”
You dropped the silver ring into her small palm, watching her eyes widen with curiosity.
“It’s the ring your father proposed to me with. It’s the last thing I have left of him, and I think you deserve to have it.” You spoke, pressing a soft kiss to her cheek as she gasped and squeezed it to her chest with a large smile on her face. The two of you stayed their in silence, just staring into the distance before you spoke.
“You know, I used to breastfeed you, too.” You teased, making your daughter groan and shiver. “I just don’t understand why you’re so freaked out about a little boob! I mean, your dad loved boobs— what’s wrong with that?”
“Ew!” She shrieked. “Boobs are gross, mom. They have cooties.”
“Ahh, right,” You rolled your eyes. “Cooties. I forgot.”
You two stayed their for a few more minutes before returning back to the car with the boys. Your daughter remained extremely happy the rest of the night, and even ran up to Jinyoung asking him if he could put the ring onto a necklace for her to wear around. “Of course I can, princess.”
He guided her to the bedroom, where they sat on the floor and dug through an old box under the bed, searching for an old necklace chain. Upon finding one, Jinyoung held out his hand for the ring, inwhich the little girl carefully placed it into. “This is a beautiful ring,” He spoke gently while he worked. “I bet your daddy loved mommy very much.”
Her heart swelled with pride, and she nodded eagerly. “He did. He loved her a whole bunch.” She exclaimed, earning a large smile from Jinyoung. She watched him as he worked, guilt starting to eat her up as she remembered how many times she was mean to him because of her jealousy. “I’m sorry I was being a brat to you.”
Jinyoung furrowed his eyebrows and set the chain down, looking over at her. “What are you talking about, honey? You’re not a brat.”
“Yes I am,” She muttered, looking down at the ring on the floor. “Daddy chose you to take care of me and mommy. Daddy chose you to give me a little brother. Daddy chose you, and I ruined it. I was a real big brat, and I’m sorry.”
Jinyoung’s heart shattered and he bit back tears, opening his arms up for her to crawl into. She did, allowing more tears to fall as she laid her head onto his chest. “Don’t ever say you’re sorry again, okay? You did nothing wrong. I understand. You know that no matter what you do or say to me, I will always be here to love you. Don’t you?”
She nodded and he kissed her head, leaning forward to grab the necklace placed in front of the two. “Hold your hair up for me real quick,” He whispered. She obeyed, pulling her up at while Jinyoung clasped the necklace around her neck. “Your daddy loves you. Your mommy loves you. I love you. You will always have us.”

Summary: You vow to turn over a new leaf after being released from prison.
You have been in Cheongju Women's Correctional Institution. The hours were long and difficult, security was crucial and you were always closely watched. You struggled through long days inside the prison and the only thing that kept you going was reuniting with your boyfriend, who you had not seen for 5 years.
You were an orphan, stranded on the streets. Having no one to rely on, you could only resort to stealing. One fine day, you set out to go about your usual routine. After spotting a potential target, you proceeded to run into him 'accidentally' before swiftly snatching away his wallet. You then began a game of cat and mouse with him. However, while on the run for your life, you tripped over a bunch of rice sacks and scraped your knee badly. Your movements slowed down as a result of your injuries. Before long, your pursuer caught up to you. You prepared yourself for the worst, so the last thing you expected was him lending a hand to you.
He took his handkerchief from his breast pocket and approached you slowly.
"Stay away from me!!" You exclaimed, backing away from him.
He placed pressure on your wounds, soon, his handkerchief was soaked with blood. "Stay still, you do not want to risk an infection."
"!" You raised your head in surprise and looked at him.
"I stole your wallet. Why did you help me?"
"That does not mean I can't help you." He smiled at you.
"Are you not mad?"
"Well, I believe that everyone has a good reason for their actions."
"You're too naive. Not everyone has a justifiable explanation...especially me."
"..."
"All done. Even though I'm confident of my first aid skills, you should get the wound properly looked at." He stood up and turned to leave.
"Wait! I don't even know your name!!"
He stopped at his tracks, and replied, "Jinyoung."
And that was how both of you met. You thought you would never meet him again. But fate has other plans. During an upcoming festival, both of you crossed paths again. Then both of you got to know each other better and eventually love comes knocking on your door.
You exchanged letters with Jinyoung everyday, taking about your lives, your hope, your love. Both of you planned to be together, even to marry, when your prison sentence was finished. Before you realised, 5 years had passed. And now you walked out the gates, taking in the warmth of the sunlight, the cool breeze. The branches of the trees were swaying side to side, as if celebrating your return.
"Y/n." You turned your head to the direction of the voice, and found yourself looking at a familiar face. Tears pricked your eyes, you ran towards the voice, and hugged tightly.
"J..Jinyoung...I-I miss y-you!" Tears rolled down your face as you grabbed the sleeves of Jinyoung's shirt.
"Welcome back, y/n." Jinyoung cupped your face and placed a featherlight kiss on your forehead. (Hahh, I miss this feeling. This kiss, this touch, this warmth.) Your heart swelled in happiness, drowning in your man's embrace.
"Come on, let's go meet my parents." Jinyoung held your hand and rushed to his house. In his house's living room sat a couple, the man reading the morning newspaper, and the woman drinking a cup of tea.
"We've been waiting for you." The woman placed her cup on the saucer, a sharp sound rang out throughout. You felt your palms getting sweaty and your heartbeat racing hard. The tension in the air was suffocating, and it didn't help you to calm down at all. Sensing your nervousness, Jinyoung popped the question, "Mum, Dad, y/n and I are going to register our marriage. Will you give us your blessings?"
"No, we do not approve. You are not getting married to her."
"!"
"BUT WHY?"
"The reason is simple, it's because of her..."
"...background." You mouthed the words silently, knowing all too well the reason for their disapproval.
"She's not suitable for you, Son. How do you know she will not harm you? She will not love you forever." Her words cut you deep like a knife, but you were already prepared to face opposition.
"Ma'am," you raised your eyes and look straight at hers, "with all due respect, I believe my background has nothing to do my suitability as Jinyoung's partner. I know you have suspicions about my background, but I assure you that I am determined to turn over a new leaf and be a better person for Jinyoung."
"Also, I disagree with your last statement," you turned to look at your beloved with loving eyes, "ever since I met Jinyoung, he has brought light into my monochrome world. He has taught me to put my trust in humanity. He has showered me with care everyday. As time passes, I find my love for him growing bigger and bigger, and falling heads over heels for him again and again. I have no idea how I can love someone so much...so much that I put him first before myself. And if you were to disapprove of our union, I shall prove to you that I am deserving of Jinyoung." You gazed at them with determined eyes, not backing down.
"Y/n..." Jinyoung felt touched by your words. "Mum, Dad, I have made my decision to marry her. I won't change my mind." Jinyoung declared.
"Pfft, Ahahahaha I can't hold it in anymore!!" Without warning, the woman erupted in laughter.
"?" You stared at the woman in confusion.
"Mum, Dad, what's going on??"
"I see you have made up your mind. THAT'S GREAT, SON!!" The man stood up from his seat and grabbed Jinyoung's shoulders. "If you had been easily swayed by our words, I would have punched you. Now we know you are serious, right Wife?"
"Indeed." The woman walked towards Jinyoung and patted his head, "Well done, I'm very proud of you, Son."
"And y/n," the woman's glance flicked towards my direction and came to rest on my eyes, "sorry for testing you. You see, I can't let my child be weak-willed as a parent. And that further applies to you. Sorry once again."
"Ma'am...I-I" you trembled with joy and stood up immediately.
You raised your right hand and announced, "I, Kim y/n, take your son, Park Jinyoung, to be my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part."
Jinyoung's parents smiled at your words, "Welcome to our family, daughter-in-law."

Jinyoung was about to go to bed even though it was just 10 P.M., somehow not being in the mood to spend his night with the boys in the dorm. They all were sitting in the living room, having some drinks and talking about this and that. Usually Jinyoung really enjoyed evenings like this, enjoying time with his best friends off work. But today his mood was down and he couldn’t explain why. There was something bothering him.
“Jinyoung, what’s wrong? Why the sad face?”, Bambam asked imitating his pout before taking a big bite of the food in front of him.
Jinyoung shook his head, “You’re boring me Bambam.”
Jaebum started laughing at his reaction, “Why so defensive?”
“I bet it has to do with a certain someone being on a date tonight.”, Jackson’s voice was almost teasing and Jinyoung rolled his eyes at his comment, trying to ignore him and let this topic die despite knowing that they wouldn’t leave him alone anyways.
Of course the guys wouldn’t leave him alone, like always. It’s been like this since weeks and at this point Jinyoung couldn’t even mention you anymore without being bombed with questions and smirks on the guys faces. He had no idea how they got the idea that you two could be in love when you obviously weren’t.
