Everyone in the Star Wars fandom is always bringing up really creative interesting ideas for stories they want to see set in the Star Wars galaxy. Deep, contemplative content like Andor, that challenges what Star Wars is and can be.
And I want that too, but I also want a story set right after Kylo goes all angsty darksidery. When Han and Leia’s relationship is on the rocks where Leia and Qi’ra go on an early 2000s movie style road trip, where they bond over shit talking their ex and then once that well runs dry just trauma dump and get drunk and have the best time. They don’t bring up Han after the first day, after getting that out of the way. And just have their best Eurotrip style hijinks all across the galaxy. Spreading chaos as only two women in their full blown 3/4 life crisis can.
Star Wars meets Bridesmaids that is either genius or I’m overtired and can’t fall asleep at 2 Am. You decide.
I watched Bros., Bottoms, and Joy Ride in pretty quick succession which was a weird experience because: Bros. was severely underrated, way more satirical than I had been told. Bottoms was too overhyped. It's good, but wasn't firing on all cylinders for me. It had the edge Do Revenge Sorely needed, but never emulated the chemistry Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke had, which is crazy because that was platonic. It's also weird that both movies had the ultimate white fuckboy antagonists with a black best friend whose schtick was that they were intensely supportive. No one said anything about Joy Ride to me but I had been guessing it would be pretty good but not great, and I ended up really liking it. All in all, three films that I had very different expectations of quality going into them, and they all ended up being the same level of enjoyment
