Reminds me of the time I wanted to write either a song or a few paragraphs on the albtrio from a fearful outside perspective, just how absolutely terrifying they'd appear in that sense. Jay alone I could imagine all the murmurs among navy men on how the daughter of the vice admiral walks in her uncle's steps only to forge her own path as a ruthless and unyielding pirate. Jay has often been the one to lead the final blow with a defiant shot, either an arrow or bullet. Her eyes glow with the embers of aster and her gaze sees all. I imagine her perception to almost feel exactly like captain widows perception to outside viewers. Also she can fucking fly tho originally wingless. Jay is a (co)captain of her ship, and she leads some terrifying motherfuckers.

For gillion, well gillion has always been terrifying. From his occasional bloodlust to his menacing grin to the fact he is very much trained to be strategic and smart combat wise. He literally weilds lightning and has proved resilience against it on multiple occasions. He does not give much a shit for his odds and will keep fighting till his last breath and after. He is a constant thorn in the side of his enemies and by a thorn I do mean a sword imbued with lightning stabbed into the side of who dares stand in his way. Gillion is a champion and he proves it. He is a constant force that never seems to stop no matter what. He is made to win. Sometimes it feels like he matches his crew in strength alone.

And chip, I like to think they don't know nearly enough about him. Always hidden, always quiet. Calculating but impulsive. And whenever he's finally revealed, suddenly combat becomes his ground of play. He dances out the way of every blade and hit directed at him. He laughs and jokes as fire blooms from his blades and he slashes. Smoke ebbs from his lungs and out of his mouth as he perches and weaves and never stops. But what's makes him frightening is that seems all of that demeanor can just drop. Somthing dark looms behind his eyes as suddenly it feels like he could stare down death and not flinch. Like can look at the greatest force of mana and beyond and never once think to abandon his crew. He stands by them in brought daylight, his tounge as sharp as his mind. This is a man who fears non but failure, and failure means loss. And it's on his dead body that he'd ever lose another

as per the people’s choice (scary ass albatrio pov outsider)

the albatross used to admittedly be the butt of the joke within pirate and navy circles alike. three nobodies only one with boring experience, the likely privileged daughter of the ferin family and a supposedly disowned triton. these jokes however became the quiet mutterings in bars or on boats, they now feared if they mentioned the name the trio would appear.

whilst some believe they were just rumours others had seen otherwise.

walking into battle they would be seen bickering and joking, making the switch all the more terrifying.

the ferin girl whose eyes turned hard and darkened, a pistol at her hip that seemed to be connected to her. they saw the way she would slash her way through men double her size, her orange hair slowly stained with blood. the laughter on her face melted away, suddenly cold and unbreaking, this was no girl this was a woman who had seen too much and whose life has been shattered too many times.

the triton, some expected his training but none expected his rage. his entire body thrumming with some power that any species knew to be scared of. the sword in his hand seemed just a another part of his body, a living thing that always struck true. gore collected on his coral but he never seemed to notice. they knew of his unwavering morals but watching him slice open another mans stomach made then question otherwise

finally the boy, he had claimed to be once part of the black rose crew and they had all laughed. but this, this was arlin through and through, the deft way he out stepped a sword or goaded on his enemy. they saw the way he carelessly wiped the blood soaking his hands on some rag before disappearing almost in front of their eyes, laughing as they stood confused. he smiled his way through carnage, blasting a magic no one even knew existed into any unfortunate soul. he gained no joy from the hurt he inflicted but the relief at seeing that final body drop was almost worse.

sorry for long post but yeah those fuckers scary

you know, i thought this was going to be about the riptide crew seeing feral gillion, but this is so much better and something i haven't considered

because jay and chip have seen gillion when he zeroes in on an attack. chip still shivers when he recalls the ice arena

but they've gotten to know gillion. they've gotten to know the soft soul beneath the initial hard exterior of the chosen one. that's their friend. that's their brother

so while everyone sees gillion throwing himself into battle as a terrifying image of a warrior, jay and chip have to watch their sefless friend put himself in danger to save everyone else

so i’m a lil goob for feral gillion/pov outsider on him

the crew of the albatross know the “real” gillion, the kind hearted, desperately hopeful triton

those on the outside less so

what they see is the ex champion of the undersea, disowned hero of the deep. the trained weapon, the carefully sharpened sword of the elders.

when their enemies make eye contact with the triton across the room, they see a man with lightning crackling through his veins, hair standing on its ends and emits absolute power.

they see the bloodlust in his eyes as he unsheathes a sword that seems to speak to him, armour who seems to hold enemies blood despite all the water he holds.

they see carefully concealed rage, a leviathan trapped in his chest begging to be released, begging to strike down those in front of it as it was trained to do.

they see how inhuman this being can be.

they see after their own have been struck down, once the blood shed is finished the sword be sheathed again, his now free hands gently tending to his wounded friends and wonder

do they too see the caged leviathan

(sorry for this lol)

CHIP CAN BE SCARY PLUS ANGST BECAUSE I CAN

chip never had a name for himself, he accepted the title bastard because hey it made sense. he’s always just been “the bastard”, the people around him continually called him that so it must be true

what many people seem to miss is that you do not survive on the seas or on the streets by simply being the “bastard”.

no he survived because he learnt early that violence might be the only language everyone spoke, when sarcasm and snark couldn’t protect him anymore. he kept a knife under his pillow the moment he learnt this, it was like a broad sword in his too small hands.

the black rose pirates gave him family but they also showed him the true darkness the world had to offer and taught him to survive it with fast feet and rapid slashes

now, he might be a captain of a pirate gang but deep down he will always be chip the bastard. enemies learn to not underestimate the quips or the swagger after the first body drops.

unlike his co captains he has no qualms coating his hands with those who wronged him or those he loves. when he enters combat he teleports back to all the times he was scared, cornered by those who hurt him in the past. he talks fast but moves faster, feet silent against the floor, enemies not knowing where the man is until they see their compatriots fall, puppets cut from their strings.

they watch him shift and morph as he wishes, changing faces with ease. the only way they can recognise him is that shit eating smile that rarely leaves his face, even as unholy power escapes his body and watches his enemies eyes burn and melt without hesitation.

he lost one family. he refuses to lose another. he protects them the one way he knows.

I would like to add to this that I wrote this at like almost midnight, half asleep, talking out of my ass lol.

i wanna preface this by saying i love fish and chips and im insane about it and oughhh if you are a Certified FnC Person this may hurt you but then again, your delusions may also shield you.

the Nat 20 kiss has only been interpreted as romantic so far (at least as far as I've seen) but I think we really need to consider how little Gillion knows about Oversea culture as a general rule. We see a lot in the early episodes (and even in some recent ones) that Gillion doesn't fully understand the way humans go about their relationships. He knows there's romance of course, but his knowledge of how they show affection seems to be pretty limited. At the point in the story when the crew was at the Isle of Ire, Gillion probably hadn't seen much of Oversea relationships, especially considering how most of the Riptide crew's time was spent sailing in isolation. All Gillion knew going into the sanctuary was that the door required an act of true love, not specifically the romantic kind. I think it's pretty clear that the co-captains loved each other a lot at that point in the story, at least platonically, and I think the Roll for Genuity really could have just been how genuinely they loved each other, in any way (up for interpretation obviously). Obviously Gillion has seen people kiss before, and most likely understood it as an act of affection, but not necessarily as romantic. Gillion very well could have kissed Chip with genuine love, simply thinking that it was a simple form of affection, like hugging. Chip obviously also loves Gill, but he wasn't the one who initiated the kiss (it's not clear whether he kissed back or not) so we can't be sure if Chip's love for Gill is platonic or romantic.

holy shit did that even make sense??? im so sorry yall it was just on my mind lol
