When Allison says "Did a demon just achieve its final powerful form in our kitchen?" we need to examine her phrasing and ask ourselves "Who talks like that?"

When you Google "final most powerful form" you will receive articles and images almost entirely of Suoer Saiyan forms, Frieza's transformations, along with a smattering of references to Bleach, Naruto, and other Japanese IPs.

It would *intellectually dishonest* to come to any other conclusion than that Allison, as a red-blooded American of 35 years of age, was not a book-reader as a teenager but a Toonami-watcher.

The data doesn't lie, folks.

Esoteric Happy Ending is a term that exists solely to describe the ending of Kevin Can Fuck Himself

just remembered how patty o'connor was in love with allison, not just subtextually but so obviously that mary hollis inboden didn't even try to downplay it as just friends love at the show was completed that she specifically said, "patty loves allison in a way that allison cannot reciprocate" and ending like that, with patty in the same tormented unrequited love that she has been with her friend for an entire season with no resolution, and now looks that it will have no resolution for the rest of her entire goddamN LIFE, was the end of a tv show that we were meant to take as satisfying

the image itself makes it seem like Allison is projecting the thought into Patty's head, which honestly fits their dynamic even more.

an excerpt from a WIP (stretching the definition of "in progress") because it' okay to be proud of things even if you don't finish them, Allison! :

A gruff “What?” is building up inside him when her eyes flick down to their pristine Pottery Barn table. He only knows this because Patty’s greeting to him at the door was “The table is pristine Pottery Barn don’t break this one”. Pristine does seem like the right word. Unloved would be another good word. There’s a stack of magazines that look untouched, topped with a France travelogue. No fun has ever been had here, evidenced by the lack of rings from beer bottles or residual grease from take-out boxes. Just books no one will ever read and a couple of colorful disks—

Oh. Coasters. Allison is waiting for him to use the coaster. Some naggy habits die hard. Though, the last man to refuse to use one of her stupid coasters did die hard. He still makes a point of grabbing a blue one from the middle of the table rather than using the pink coaster nearest to him. Masculinity is under attack, after all. Drink on its rightful throne (Jesus, she’d actually phrase it like that. But was that just to get Kevin to use them?), he can’t contain himself anymore and gives a condescending “la-di-da" wave of his hand.

And Allison fucking bounces. Like she won something. Like she won him over. With her stupid little half-smile he’s seen a thousand times. But again, he’s seen it before but not like this. Allison loves to bounce in place like she’s on a trampoline but is too scared to get any air time (This isn’t a metaphor, Kevin rented a trampoline before and this was the extent of the fun Allison was capable of having), and she loves to grin like she doesn’t want anyone to know she got her way but definitely wants everyone to know she got her way.

But that whole act wasn’t ever aimed at Neil. That’s how she nagged Kevin. It never worked, not really. (“Wives. Give em’ an inch and they’ll take a mile. That’s why I only give Allison a micro-inch.")

He’s not sure what pisses him off more: that Allison thinks he’s as stupid as Kevin was, or that she thinks he’s as deserving of her mind games .

But he can see her high is wearing off and the deer-eyes are coming back. He takes a sip to show her he doesn’t think it’s poisoned and it’s fucking poisoned.

A lot of viewers didn't get it. Especially on Reddit* and in professional reviews. But also, *no one in the show got it either*. PATTY didn't get it. When Kevin reported their car stolen because she didn't return his calls for ~12 hours, Patty was uncomfortable, but still trying to mitigate it. Patty at best got why Allison would want to leave him instead of rotting at Kevin's, but she didn't get at ALL why Allison would go to murder. She only became okay with it after Kevin wronged *her*, and even then it's a stretch to say she was actually "okay" with the plan to kill Kevin. I don't even think she "got" it when Kevin kicked a door in Allison's face. I don't think Patty ever truly saw the Kevin the audience was allowed to see in the final episode. And Allison never got Neil! She didn't get that Neil and Patty will always have a love that Kevin never had, or ever deserved, and she didn't get that Neil was more clever than Kevin, and could be just as much a devious leech. Allison didn't get that Chuck was Diane's Kevin. Diane didn't get that Kevin was Allison's Chuck. Like Patty, Diane only *gets* Kevin is an asshole when he targets her. Obviously, Sam only gets Kevin is an asshole when his assholery directly affects him. And, as Sam's gender-appointed defender, he's the only person to reflect on his own and come back to Allison with a full apology. Patty and Diane more than atone, but they don't give much in way of a verbal apology! So in summation, there are a lot of "throwaway" lines that immediately reveal how awful Kevin in, and it's easy to miss them or not process them as a viewer (especially if you are Normal and only watch television shows once or twice) but sympathetic characters also weren't picking up those lines either about Kevin (until Allison basically grabs them by the face and forces their attention), and Allison wasn't picking up those lines about other character's Kevins. * the contrarian in me is starting to get tired of the Reddit dunking. Yeah, the misogyny and racism jump out in fandom subreddits. Yeah, the refusal to look at queer readings or just queerness gets borderline homophobic. I've never seen someone cry "misandry!" outside of the kcfh subreddit, but that was like, two guys, and ten people mocking them. What the subreddit also had was many women, being upvoted, talking about how they saw through Kevin's bullshit immediately because they had had their own Kevin. Just because some people were concern trolling about Kevin, and didn't get Patty at all, doesn't mean they didn't get anything about the show.

That throwaway line where Kevin admitted he tracked Allison's phone.

I've been working on this playlist for over a year now, so I should probably consider it 95% complete

I needed a place for my Allison McRoberts songs that are more sad and angry, rather than my other playlist for her which was horny and angry.

@warningsine

It's a good interview, mostly about the production side.

I'm annoyed that they don't seem to have credited any of the hosts/interviewers anywhere. One of the guys worked on The Good Wife and the Good Fight but I guess I have to wait for him to get named on the audio..

Im still listening because it's very long, but the biggest thing so far is that Allison saying she didn't want this in the final scene when Patty says she finally got what she wanted was from the network.

Which, good, because that part sucked.

Edit: okay the "I'd like her better if she had a dick" (written line of dialogue for a character) part at the end is the most embarrassed I've been in someone' behalf in a while.

Btw KCFH is part of a deal AMC made with Netflix to host its shows so maybe we'll get new fans when Netflix subscribers get to watch it.

And Valerie's been on a podcast. I haven't had the chance to listen to the episode yet. Has anyone?

I'm happy for the Netflix-induced wave of Kevin Can Fuck Himself for many reasons, but mainly because all of my dumb posts are gonna get another wave of likes.

I'm hoping this one gets the justice is deserves because it's actually one of the funniest things I've ever made.

Have to disagree. None of the women get what is going on because they are all (unconsciously or consciously) covering for the problem man in their life. Tammy is jealous of Allison, sure, but depending on how you read the ending she never really got what she should be jealous of. Tammy thinks Kevin is an obnoxious loser and that it makes senses for Allison to cheat on him, and understands why divorce isn't viable... but she never really gets why. Kevin kicked a door into Allison's face and she just seems annoyed at the stupidity she witnessed. Tammy was the only one that knew Bram was a scumbag. Even the audience isn't clued in on that, unless you are full ACAB. Allison *and* Tammy didn't take Neil seriously as anything other than a buffoon. Only Patty knew his manipulation tactics. Even when Diane found out Chuck was a bastard, she still thought Kevin must be cool until he personally hurt her. Even then, she supports Allison leaving, and never learns about the murder plot. She also stays supportive (but firm) with Neil. Even Jenn knew Sam had issues before the "you're broken" scene and finding out he was cheating on her. The point, I think, is communication and believing women. Something really only Allison and Patty accomplish, which is what makes their bond so strong. Tammy is smart and perceptive, but she's too stubborn and judgmental to fully empathize with Allison *or* Patty.

Kevin is the unreliable narrator, but who is our reliable one?

Not Allison who goes on a journey from fantasy to reality.

Not Patty whose cynicism so often shuts her eyes to possiblity.

Not Sam who brings his own pile of baggage and nostalgia to the whole thing.

It's Tammy.

Detective Tammy Ridgeway is the character who most clearly sees things as they are.

And she's jealous of Allison's relationship with Patty from the jump.

Alright folks we all hate Tammy but make sure to not be weird about it

Kevin Can Fuck Himself Playlist Masterlist: because the adhd keeps me from being able to write, this was basically my contribution to the fandom. For Allison's need for chaos and need to make out with her frenemies competitiveness:

For Allison's craving of delusions, and the inevitable shattering of them:

For Patty's misanthropy, and her contradictory need for companionship:

For Allison and Patty's separation and longing:

For Neil's... It's Neil.

For Jennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn's rage:

I know I just did a post saying some people need to interpret Tammy more charitably, but also lot of people on Reddit being surprised that other people see a layer of abuse in the "revealing the layer of abuse" show.

When she tries to get painkillers (tokillKevinbutlet'snotworryaboutthat) the doctor almost immediately wants to contact Kevin. When she is out of town for less than 24 hours Kevin gets the cops to track her down. Literally the two authority figures ideally you would able to alert if you were in an abusive relationship were connected to Kevin.

I love how the show answered the question viewers ask like almost immediately.

“Why doesn’t she just leave him?”

And she gets asked that by the librarian who ask about her book about a woman who kills her abusive husband and Allyson answers. She has nothing.

She has $190 in her bank account, he owns the only car they have, their friends are his friends who don’t even like her and even her own family thinks she can’t do better and don’t care about her. Allyson is fucked. She’s stuck in a situation where leaving means living on the streets or leaving can’t happen because Kevin does not lose and her leaving would be him losing which he refuses to do. She’s a possession.

So yes for Allyson murder felt like the option because what other option would there be?

I was saying on a different hellsite that part of Kevin's downfall is getting stuck in multi-episode arcs his sitcom life isn't prepared to handle.

Pete never breaks into singlecam but he gets sick of Kevin' shit and leaves all the same, and that starts when Kevin runs from office- a direct result of Allison working against him. Pete is definitely supportive of the campaign, as opposed to Neil. That's status and power he can mooch off! But Kevin is too egotistical and disorganized to not botch something requiring *continuity*.

Same with Lorraine. Kevin can't deal with the introduction of a recurring character, and his attempts to "write her off" just piss Pete off even more.

One of things I'm enjoying about Kevin can fuck himself is how the comedy aspect is always a new scenario every episode with little to no connection to previous episodes (which is typical in comedies), whereas the drama aspect is all plot continued on from the last episode with huge consequences

continuing to repost my old takes for the new audience: Allison is a Laura Palmer expy (pretty blondish white woman, seemingly beloved and living an idyllic life, but actually in deep shit with major character flaws, ala Jackie Taylor, Rachel Amber, Lilly Kane) but instead of being a doomed by the narrative ghost, she is the central pov and has autonomy.
