Kipo Spoilers - Tumblr Posts
That moment when Wolf tore her way out of the dream because she doesn’t want an idealized Kipo, she wants the real one with all her faults and failings is just so freaking great,
That's so CUTE!!!
Benson & Troy — Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts
All this and
- A lack of over the top in your face humor, its more of a gentle breeze instead
- A beautiful comparison of redeemable vs unredeemable
- Hugo's arc is a guarantee down emotional lane.
- similarly dont get me started on YumYan. His arc of learning that you don't have to be perfect for those you love hits hard
- reoccuring characters that actually have built in arcs and aren't just a plot tool
- a story that will draw you in and not feel like its reusing plot points just to reach a goal
- effectively talks about problems we still deal with today in a healthy simple fashion the speaks to all ages without being too dark
- every verbal fight had actual reasoning behind it and wasn't forced to develop character arcs
- Daves storytime was off the wall weird but at the same time made perfect sense. Not everything has to be your fan guys
- rewatchable is a big thing for me. I will always gain more from each rewatch and this one sure is repeatable.
- and to talk about the animation for a sec. Frame shots dont have weird impossible angles to them from what I've seen. Its natural and smooth (minus the questionable flexibility of six limbs >.>)
- literally a redemption arc for everyone (yes including the doctor she had the chance at the end to move on and she chose otherwise, knowing kipo and how it works even Ms. Mutes-suck-but-imma-turn-myself-into-one would've had the chance to be forgiven. I mean not to get knitty gritty but technically Hugo also tried to kill his sibling and would've been successful too if it weren't for those meddling kids) [this could start an argument so I do still believe the Dr is irredeemable im just saying there was a possiblity]
Anyway
Feel free to add on as you wish
When I say kipo is genius I mean it’s fucking genius: a thread (in no particular order)
mixed race main character who is not the stereotypical strong independent woman but instead knows that they need their friends just as much as they need them
It also shows how a lovable nerd doesn’t need to change themselves to get what they want
bomb ass music that fucking slaps
complex superb characters that all mature and evolve in a believable and beautiful way
showing that the power of friendship and love is strong but sometimes you need to fight
Trash pandas that got gains for days and find out how to truly protect themselves by fighting a two headed pigeon
found family trope done so fucking good that it drove me to tears
Interesting world building that is the perfect balance of nonsense and logic
kpop narwhals that speak and sing Korean (but no one makes it a gag)
two complex villains that show the contrasts of how evil ideologies are formed
Also parallels formed between the antagonists and protagonists without any of the speeches
wolves that rap about the stars and molecular structure of atoms
lgbt rep that is both lowkey and upfront where it isn’t over the top but it’s just how a real relationship would be and no one is like ew gay
satisfying conclusion with a beautiful epilogue
And you get the point but if you guys have any more please add on
Me, watching Kipo and seeing the Mega Monkey for the first time
I couldn’t stop thinking about how the color scheme of Dave’s half-closed eyes looked like a pride flag and I realized it resembled the genderqueer flag
It's fun to think that dave is basically immortal
