Lord Brocktree - Tumblr Posts
Considering the kind of Hare Dotti is, this is quite appropriate and I can almost hear it in her voice.
Dotti: I never “ugly cry”. My crying is beautiful, magnificent, flawless from years of dedicated practice. You should be so lucky to even see it. I’m crying right now just imagining your awe.
One time, on my Instagram, I asked everyone to relate me to a character from and piece of media. My dear friend @lostmousemaid, being my Redwall friend, related me to Dotti from Lord Brocktree. It has been the highlight of my online presence ever since then.

Also, as a part of my recent #queer redwall project, I inform you that Dotti is queer. As any kin of mine, she must be.
This is so Dotti
Dotti: Make sure no one has fun without me
Dotti: And make sure they all know it’s because I’m not there

I love Dotti as always

okay i am mildly obsessed with this exchange
Patrol General Dorothea Duckfontein Dillworthy, my beloved
Brocktree: What are you going to do?
Dotti: Cry havoc and let slip the hogs of war.
Brocktree: Dogs... of war.
Dotti: Whatever farm animal of war, Brock! Shut up!

Digital drawing of mine depicting, Lord Brocktree from Brian Jacque's Classic, Brocktree. The Story involves a powerful badger seeking to reclaim his homeland from the terrible warlord, Ungatt Trunn.
Dotti: I spoke to the security officer at the scene. Brocktree: What did they say? Dotti: "Go away".

Commission of Lord Brocktree from the Redwall series (with a custom weapon) for a client on Instagram. This was so much fun. :)
Rereading Lord Brocktree and can we talk about what an icon Dorothea Duckfontein Dillworthy is???
When a literal king says he won’t fight her because she’s a woman and she goes and yells at him until he’s shamed into accepting her challenge? Iconic behavior. Feminist Icon.
Rereading Lord Brocktree and it’s reminding me just how much I love a good battle plan in adventure stories.
None of this having two armies run charge at each other on an open field. There’s strategy, there’s drama, there’s feelings, and you don’t know the full plan until it’s happening.
Just so good.
Bucko: You’re right. I am a mess. Dotti: Actually, I said you were a piñata of problems, but we can go with mess if you want.

“Are you sure it wasn’t too much bother, havin’ to jolly well get off your bottom an’ help me out?”
“As I said, I thought you were doing quite well. If I’d thought you could have taken them single-pawed I wouldn’t have stepped in.”
“Hmm, suppose you’re right. I lost my head a bit when that flagon of rare old cider got broken.”
Brocktree: hey Dotti what are your pronouns? Dotti: why. What are saying about me?
The books that have wildcats - Mossflower, Lord Brocktree, and High Rhulain (and a bit of Redwall itself), LB and MSF take place before the abbey is founded.
Redwall takes place after those two and there's only Julian left.
So they died out on the mainland, but Green Isle is so isolated, it still has a loch ness monster expy - something from the dinosaur age and wildcats who didn't get killed because they didn't go anywhere.
So Green Isle is an island stuck centuries in the past but we can't really tell outside of it's residents bc the world as a whole isn't technologically advanced. It also ties into the fact that there's a direct mention of Kaltag's family being domesticated cats 'by something'.
It's basically this series’ version of a prehistoric setting untouched by time.
That's clever!
