Relationship dynamic: rocky start, as Ianthe was a high society friend of Ediths from America. Things improve(? Kinda of) when they travel to England on their way to visit family in Europe, and offer to hire workers to repair Allerdale hall. They end up getting snowed in and things turn out differently than the movie lol
Occupation: s/I is a painter from a wealthy family (that's actually a crossover with another self ship universe lol) and Lucille is unemployed because women weren't expected to work in the same way
In short, s/I also has a dark secret related to their families wealth, so when they discover Lucille and Thomas's murder thing, they kind just shrug. The incest was weird, but again. Family secrets, I guess.
(Also Edith and Thomas are happy and in love in my ship-verse. With the company of S/I, she learns that she isn't 'losing' Thomas to her and while they don't exactly get her explicit blessing, she's more comfortable accepting Edith as family)

I love this turn of events, and I’m sure Edith and Thomas are glad for it too. Lucille especially for getting someone sweet who looks past some of her… past choices.
This is a fun one to put in the Harlots verse due to all the juicy relationships - I think there was a lot more pressure for upper class women to marry in the Georgian era, so people might find it odd that Lucille would stay single and have an artist in her employ after a fateful winter.
Then again, their family is pretty isolated, so people might not hear about it, or care enough to gossip. I can see Ianthe taking wealthy clients for portraits.
I think most likely I could see their paths crossing if Phemie and Charles wanted a portrait and ended up spending some time with the artist and their … very generous patron. Who they live with and want to spend the rest of their life with.
There’s also the option of them all meeting on a fancy holiday to France or something.
Phemie would leap for the chance to connect with them - he is a noble too, it’s only natural they’d get along!
… There’s also the very delicious parallel between Phemie and Lucille as people who claim nobility (or even are nobility) but have to pretend to not be broke as hell. Phemie copes by getting a rich boyfriend, at least. I don’t know if it would ever be revealed - ie their double lives when it comes to wealth / reputation - but Lucille might not take kindly to Phemie’s advice to just get a sugar daddy, of course.
I typically have Phemie as a Connection since Charles is Social, sure, but less so, and very sheltered. I think Phemie and Ianthe would both be used to mixing with people across class lines in a way that Charles and Lucille wouldn’t. (Courtesans 🤝 Artists)
I am intrigued about the dark secret with Ianthe’s wealth, I’d like to see how it could factor in here!
Charles isn’t exactly hiding where his wealth is from, but if they’re meeting in another country where he’s not well known (and is currently trying to change for the better), he might not advertise exactly what his business is.
So they’re all very posh rich people with dark secrets who appreciate art! I’m not sure what 1700s tourism was like in Europe but they could go to operas and art galleries together, maybe share some gossip on the way

So there would be a lot of small/subtle things; hands brushing, meaningful looks. When Lucille sees Ianthe's first sketch of her, it's on the same page as some pressed violets
There's more overt 'flirting' as well. Quoting Sappho, giving Lucille some flowers under the guise of 'brightening the place up', gently tying a colorful scarf in her hair, that was quite an intimate moment, what with the brushing the hair off her neck, standing so close she could feel their breath, and a gentle "this color is beautiful on you" almost whispered...
And then there's a moment, after ianthe has left Allerdale hall before winter, before the big storm, before Thomas and Edith return, when *they* return.
"Edith isn't here. She... left with Thomas. To the post office."
And Ianthe is standing in the doorway snow beginning to fall harder, dusting their cape and hair, and they just smile wryly and say
"I came for you."
There's some other things as well, some piano playing while ianthe watches from a doorway entranced, the beginning of Lucilles portrait, being painted in the cold winter light, one moment when ianthe grabs her hands, Holding them to their chest and telling Lucille "your fingers are like ice!"
Of course, given that Ianthes main love language is gift giving there's also the jewelry... it's a very... sensuous courtship, you could say lol

🏹 Hanzo fell first, but I *realized* my feelings first. Hanzo can be emotionally obtuse sometimes. He's very much a "hmm whenever I'm with them my heart speaks up and my face gets hot and I get butterflies palms sweaty, spaghetti, etc. Must be flue season" type of person. This went on for months before genji eventually was like "are you really taking this long to confess?" And he just went "???? Confess what??". Meanwhile it hit me like a truck, and I had a big "OH NO I LOVE HIM" moment and avoided him for like two weeks because haha what's confronting your feelings? Sounds fake.
🦇 oh boy this is. Uh. Let's say the 'love' came later, for a long time it was fascination, obsession, magnetism... with romantic overtones, yes, but not true romance for a while. It sort of happened at the same time, but he realized it first. It stopped being a game, less cat and mouse, I wasn't a convenient meal, but something he cherished. He confessed very quickly, he's not one to hesitate making something (or someone) his.

It felt like a miracle that she would open her heart to me like that.
🍵 both of us, it felt like a natural progression of our friendship to be honest. I think she noticed first that we were becoming less... platonic, though. The first time you both order food, they make sure to go out there and take it, shaking the hands of the person who delivered it, thanking them with a bright smile
❄️ They're fascinated by the shiny little rectangle that's around you. To them it's like magic, it can create entire paintings with a single click of the camera, even ones that move! There are infinite musicians and entertainers at the palm of your hand and they're overjoyed to experience it all with you
💙 Some of the foods are far different from what they're used to, most taste a lot better! Even if they need some time to get used to the flavor or textures of some of it, they're thankful that you're willing to share your food, even more so if you go out of your way to go buy something that you know they'll enjoy!
❄️ They're overjoyed when you offer that they have a nice warm bath. All the products smell of fresh fruit and newly baked desserts, they almost convince themselves that you're cleaning yourself with syrup. They've never felt so relaxed and fulfilled than once they slip into warm and clean clothes after their bubble bath
💙 Showing and explains memes and pop culture is definitely the most fun and confusing part of their whole experience, but once they understand what's going on, they have a wonderful time! Eventually, they begin to try and make their own memes to share with you, hoping to make you smile!

💍our love is already quite intense. I would like to take her to America again, to sight see without worrying about money or work or finding a target. Nothing majorly new on the horizon, on my end at least. Lucille is quite good at keeping secrets so who knows what she may have planed!
🏹I'm learning Japanese for him, finally. I know very little from on and off lessons the past... 6 or 7 years... but it's time I take the initiative to do something beneficial and will make us closer! Other than that, it's just the natural trajectory of our relationship happening. We've also started discussing marriage since we've been together for so long.
🐲 I doubt there's much new we can bring into our relationship. All we can hope for is to remain undisturbed.

💀hes very protective, and that alone makes me feel safe. While hes usually very put together, hes also not afraid to kick the shit out of someone. Papa has been described as sad, bitter, and angry, but honestly? Its the weight of his family's expectations (with the knoweldge that hes a placeholder for his brother, and the way hes treated by his father). Giving him a space to be himself, unhindered, and knowing that I'll still love and accept him as who he is makes him feel safe. Once, in a quiet moment by the fire, playing chess, he told me he was jealous of my father and that I was the daughter he dreamed of having. I only cried a lot 🥹
💍 I don't know if lucille makes me feel *safe* per se, but I also don't feel *unsafe* with her. She certainly makes me happy, but I find her to be safety neutral lol. I know I make her feel safe, she's told me as much! All those ghosts in Allerdale hall, she says she can't feel their presence with me. I quiet her mind, I pose no threat to her and Thomas, and she can feel... normal with me.
🐲 physical safety isn't something either of us really need to worry about with each other. I mean a mage is usually able to defend themselves well enough, but throw in a literal dragon of legend? its a mix of love and comfort, and walking in a strange new territory. It's very new for both of us, so it seems we're both very aware of potential missteps. Even with this sort of hyper vigilance, we know that it's nothing we cannot handle together. It would take the combined eight divines to tear us apart.
🏹 just being near him makes me feel safe. He's one of the few people that makes my anxiety just melt away, because even if I start to panic, a big warm hand on my back and a gentle word and I know im ok. I do my best to do the same for him. Sometimes he doesn't sleep well, with memories of his past, or of things he's done. I lay awake with him as long as he needs, holding him and telling him how loved he is, how I'm never going to leave. I hope I'm able to help him as much as he helps me.
