Sibling angst, my precious
nobamai is sadly unpopular, even tho its literally wlw enemies to lovers!!!
iām interested in why people actually wantĀ mai to be a sorcerer. like they genuinely want her to grow to love to job. it feels like an unusual path for her to take, especially from what we know from mai and makiās dynamic, so it feel likes people would want her to react to her situation in a way maki would rather how mai actually would.
ā kyoto girls šøāØšā
okay ANOTHER thingā¦ the fan response to the school event still makes me so annoyed lmfao. like everyone became such a mai h8r, not me thoā¦ sheās a faveā¦ even without the pre culling game scenes where the writing comes full circle for makiās character (gegeās best writing!) when mai has her flashback and sheās scared because she can see curses and her sister takes her hand. and then when maki leaves and mai says that maki is a liar and that she hates her. ppl watched/read that and took it at face value? how can you see maki leave the zenin clan, tell them that she is coming back to become the head, AFTER seeing her lead her scared sister fearlessly, their father talking about how much he hates them for being girls and twins; and perceive that as sisters attempting to best each other or a silly power grab. āmaki can pull herself by the bootstrapsā type fansā¦ annoying! and Mai upset after their match saying that she never wanted to become a sorcerer, mai was just following maki only for mai to become defensive because she perceived makiās choice as maki choosing to leave her... like how does maki not read as anything but a sister who cares deeply to viewers/readersā¦
i like that gege sprinkles all of these things that exist in opposition or just incompatible with the overt lines a main character will be saying. like the protagonists are not all knowing of jujutsu society, in fact the first year tokyo students seem pretty ignorant of all of the structural aspects. anyway i am glad that even though mai went to school to be like āfine i can leave you too!ā she got a really good support system, peers who care about her, and met todo lmfao ā ļø iām positive that normal girl miwa, prankster momo, and whatever is going on w todo brought out the best in her. kyoto students are all bestieees. i would like to think mai was genuinely happy as a kyoto student!
anyway the sisters are not trying to āproveā themselves or trying to ābestā one another. there is no ārivalryā, and all of their objectives are about how much they love each other and all that comes with having to rely on only each other in a chauvinist traditionalist secluded community. as well as the emotional response (in maiās case) to being abandoned. this is even without the pre culling games scenes but it certainly helps confirm it!
