Malevolent Part 45 - Tumblr Posts
John got hag therapy, it’s only right that Arthur got Malim (Mallam? Malam?) therapy
So this William… is that where Arthur got Will Henley from?
Um so you know how Arthur said that the house in the village felt wrong and compared it to John seeing the aura around Marie’s house?
Yeah, did Arthur pick up another weird death power?
So I’ve seen a few people theorising that Malam is future Arthur or John or some kind of mash of them in one person. The similar scars, inflection, knowledge of Faroe “OUR day of wrath”
But I have one to add. The fact he knew what a palindrome was when that word won’t exist for another 400 YEARS!!
The name drop for William in part 45 reminded me so much of the Faroe name drop in season 1. It felt like it had a lot of weight to it, like Arthur had just revealed something really big. Got a feeling we’ll learn more about him soon enough, and he’ll be important

Kayne said that only “the remnants of her stain” were still around.
A somewhat related theory that I have seen is that that “stain” or her energy I guess ended up latching itself to Arthur. It would make sense as a reason for why THIS Arthur is unique, since he’s in the universe where Shubby got deleted. AND the case he was working on before meeting John did have ties to Shubby.
But who knows! I know basically nothing about lovecraft so take it with a MASSIVE grain of salt
MALEVOLENT PART 45 SPOILERS
Just finished part 45 And I have a theory, and hear me out on this
Is the Mother Darkness Shub-Niggurath?
She's the only eldritch god I can think of explictly shown as female, and a mother no less. Some associations with black and darkness, being The Black Goat of The Woods and all
She's also dead in the present, but Arthur's in the past, is he destined to kill her?
Plus, from the transcript:
MALAM: How? ARTHUR: Well, how-how do I stop her? MALAM: She cannot be killed by normal weapons. And even if you did manage to destroy Mother Darkness, it would only bring about her true form. ARTHUR: Her true form?
My only counterpoint in this is like,,, she was wiped from reality, I don't remember off-hand if it was from the past like she never existed? But her murals were still there, and I don't remember what episode that was in
Malam ramble cause I have a few disconnected thoughts
Whatever Malam’s deal is, it is very interesting that we got such a detailed description on his appearance. Most characters get very little physical details, except maybe anything that particularly stands out. But Malam we got so many details: scars, skin, hair, eyes, HANDS.
That can’t be for nothing
ALSO I really like the idea that this is John and Arthur in one person. Maybe they were offered a deal, they share in the body but in a WAY deeper way (even tho Malam doesn’t look like Arthur, John would have mentioned that).
Matching scars, features distinguishing his hands from eachother, a similar tone to John’s. But also, heterochromia, something thought to represent the balance of opposing forces.
And of course “OUR day of wrath”. I keep thinking about day of wrath being called their “combined force” and then I look at Malam and see their features smushed and alarm bells go off.
I’m very curious who or what Malam is, but he has to many elements linked to the story to not be important
Ok so

John isn’t really being literal here but I have noticed, especially in recent episodes, that Arthur’s voice has shifted a bit.
I have “thanks yorick” and “owls don’t eat people boys” ricocheting in my head, where it sounds like he’s speaking more from his chest than ever.
Whether this is just the way his voice has changed (a thing that happens a lot in voice acting) or it’s intentional I can’t be sure but.
I like to think is shows him being more honest with himself and others I guess. I think about part 45 and how Arthur knows that he doesn’t deserve to die for what he’s done, and he struggles to admit that to himself because the whole “I would want him dead” monologue.
His voice early on always struck me as something akin to a customer service voice, very gentle and polite, tho it quickly slips as the events of the series completely disintegrate his psych. It was a facade, to a point.
Idk it was just something I noticed and liked
Faroe is happy arthur knows he doesn't deserve to die
Faroe was the light the whole time and she just wants her dad to be ok
I'm sorry part 45 nearly made be actually sob
who the fuck gave Harlan the right
