currently feeling very 🥺 actually over the fact Max was there to witness this win
Lando's win was a bit of a surprise in Miami, he had Martin and his dad there in Zandvoort, but having Max there hits different somehow?
the fact that they've pretty much grown up together through some of the most formative years, through them karting and into their teens, their careers diverging and Max having to stop and kind of watch Lando go on without him
even though we know it hurt, never once has he begrudged Lando his chances and his success, and has been one of, if not the most vocal supporters Lando has in his life, steadfast and strong and always there whether that's telling chat to fuck off on streams or more subtly like his comment of just wanting to be at more races
but for this win, for it to be in Singapore which we know is a very special place for Max, for it to be while wearing a Quadrant helmet - the company Lando set up and let Max into and take over with him and share and give Max almost a new purpose during a down time
for Max to have watched Lando achieve the dream and so dominantly with his own eyes and get to hug him after, we know he's been there when Lando's podiumed but a win hits different for obvious reasons
they're baby besties, ride or dies, two halves of the same brain cell, former roomies, platonic soulmates
