my first post in a while and it’s about the grinch....

anyway, so the grinch is touch starved right? he wouldn’t be too accepting of sudden hugs or other means of affection

in fact, he might get nervous and stiff when they happen. clueless about what to do about it most of the time

obviously cindy-lou who and her family, along with any friends the grinch made ie bricklebaum, are trying to integrate him back into society

so they go about getting him used to touches, things like a brief pat on the back or a small squeeze of the hand so they don’t overwhelm him. too much too fast could have the opposite reaction and may cause him to become more of a recluse.

hell they might even tell him what type of affection theyre gonna show him beforehand so he doesnt have a panic attack at the unexpected touch. maybe even ask for permission before more intimate signs of affection ie hugs, forehead/cheek kisses, etc., etc.,

but the thing is, he doesnt understand the difference between platonic affection and nonplatonic affection is. oh dont misunderstand, he knows the signs of dislike and disgust, too used to being the green furred freak living on the mountain and familial love? well he’s got max and watching the lou who family in action in the mornings is always fun

but romance? he’s as dense as a brick. yeah when he sees it on the street he knows and understands, but when it comes to himself? well, lets just say that donna lou who is too stubborn and determined to give up on the oblivious green who

lol, donna’s trying to get into his dms and succeding but not in the way she wants. oblivious green thinking shes so friendly and nice, not even noticing his growing feelings for her. omg dates that arent dates but they totally are, except the grinch is like wow what a nice get together between friends and donna just slamming her head on the table in dejection.

donna throwing her hand up in exasperation: felix, it’s our six month anniversary, we’ve been dating for half a year.

grinch: ...

donna: how did you not know??  youre over all the time, we’ve had dinner with my parents, the boys call you daddy and cindy drew a family picture with you in it!

grinch: ...i thought we were just really close best friends

so someone talked about grinch becoming part of bricklebaum’s family (which is hella awesome) and all i could think about was them opening a coffee shop together

i imagine the grinch being super passionate about his coffee and the drinks they serve with bricklebaum making any intricately designed pastries

bricklebaum would be the ‘face’ of the business and you can usually see him either manning the register or bringing out a fresh tray of goodies. he alludes to there being a man behind the curtain and always boasts about his ‘brother’ without actually mentioning his name.

it helps add mystery to the quaint coffee shop, along with providing him some good-natured amusement. though if any customers get too nosey and try to sneak in the back for a peek they politely get introduced to the door from a protective older brother

the grinch would hide out of sight of the customers because they still make him nervous. he’s in charge of making the coffee and other drinks and he usually gets max to deliver them to the customers. he’s not particularly one to write messages on his drinks, but on rare occasions you might see one on the cup of a young who’s hot chocolate
