Growing simple simple vitriol crystals - thread
Blue vitriol is pretty, and that’s not an opinion. Here’re some stock photos if you don’t know what blue vitriol is.

Shiny.
It’s a pretty simple and commonplace mineral, chemical formula CuSO4 * 5H20. It was used for disinfection, but that practice was stopped after its toxic qualities were discovered. Now it’s mainly used for mold and weeds removal, and, apparently, some madman named Roger Hiorns filled an abandoned apartment with its solution, which resulted in a... well...

Honestly, goals. But I digress.
I recently bought a little chemical experiment set for my sibling and got hit with a wave of nostalgia. I need to grow my own crystals. I know a fair share of chemistry, hello nerd little me from middle school. I’m not a professional in any way but I can boast about my copious amounts of common sense when it comes to safety measures. I believe in myself. Also, it’s an extremely comical concept to me that I can just go and spend my grown-up money to buy potentially hazardous stuff with the sole intent of growing myself a shiny. The same money that I pay taxes with. Yeah.
So here we are. I’ve found a place that sells chemicals, got a bit distracted and supplemented my purchase with half a kilo of green vitriol (FeSO4 * 7H20), which has just the perfect type of green.

And so they lie and wait. I’ll update the thread as more stuff comes up.
