She stared at him for a moment. “Tashi Duncan?” She’d never met anyone that didn’t know who she was before. She didn’t think Happy would be one of those people. But it just went to show you that you couldn’t judge people based on first assumptions. “I coach Art Donaldson?” She was saying all of this like it was obvious, because she’d assumed that it was. She tilted her head to the side and gave him a quick once over. “What are you?”
Tashi hated parties like these. She always had. She knew they were necessary, but she hated them all the same. She watched with mild interest as Carnegie picked the lock and smiled as the bottle was held out. She grabbed it from Carnegie’s hand and tugged the top off, taking a drink straight from the bottle and setting it on the edge of the desk. “Now I’m ready.” She said it with a sharp smile and her fingers still wrapped around the neck of the bottle. “What do you want to know?” She didn’t quite know why she was entertaining a ballerina’s questions about her life, but she had nothing better to do.
˖ ⭑₊˚ Light eyes narrowed and she stared at Tashi Duncan for a long moment before humming. Carnegie crouched in her thousand dollar dress, tugging on cupboard doors shamelessly, until she found a locked one ; that would be where the good stuff was stored, not just the champagne on little trays being served by waiters out there where the party supposedly was. In her opinion, there was little to prove that was really the case. The real party was wherever she decided, and tonight, that was with Tashi in some the office investment guy with shares in athletic wear. A wave of blonde fell in front of her face as she pulled a bobby pin from her hair and unlocked the little door. With an elegant turn, the ballerina held out a single barrel whiskey, ' I believe I have come to your rescue. '

dodge
dayna was killed by the magisterium for trying to stop their experiments and dodge has been plotting revenge for years. he works as an ambassador and a soldier for the magisterium, but he’s only doing it so he can get close to and kill the ones that killed dayna. he’s secretly aiding lyra and her friends in any way that he can, and when he gets the chance, he’s going to defect and join the rebellion.
art, patrick & tashi
tashi works for the magisterium, and she’s very much a woman like marisa coulter. art is her husband and he also works for the magisterium alongside tashi. patrick doesn’t work for the magisterium officially, but he sneaks information to tashi in exchange for time with art. tashi is one of the scientists working to separate children from their dæmons and art is her assistant. art hates it, but he doesn’t know how to stop the experiments. he would join the rebellion if he could, but he’s never had a chance to and he doesn’t know what would happen if he took the chance when it came.
riff
riff isn’t involved with the magisterium at all. he hates them and wants absolutely nothing to do with them. he keeps to himself and travels when he can. he’s sort of like lee scorseby without the balloon. he just travels when he can and settles wherever he can. he’s known as a troublemaker and he’s gotten into his fair share of scrapes (he likes to make trouble for the magisterium whenever he can) but he hasn’t gotten caught yet.

The question should have been expected and yet Tashi is still caught off guard by it. Normally, she sneaks off to find Patrick. Patrick Zweig isn’t a big enough name to get invited to these parties, but he can attend as a waiter, which is what he does every time Tashi texts him to do so. It brings a little bit of excitement to her boring life. But she can’t tell Carnegie this. Tashi doesn’t think Carnegie will care that she’s cheating, but she can’t risk it. She sips at her drink instead, mulling over a better answer. “This, mostly.” She flashes a bright smile. “Or I find a pantry to raid.”

she knows what patrick is doing to art and she doesn’t care. in her mind, it’s art getting punished for cheating on her, even though he doesn’t want to be.
