Who loves night-shots? Laur loves night-shots. I do, I do, I do-oo. I also got bitten by mosquitoes about a billion times while trying to take this picture, and eventually just gave up because, even though I wasn't happy with the any of the pictures yet, I couldn't take it anymore.

Today, instead of going out and buying eggs to start on Sub Project #1, I stayed in and discovered the joys of The Big Fat Quiz Of The Year. Noel Fielding and Russell Brand are actually rather charming, aren't they? I'd no idea. Now It's after 10, I'm still without eggs, but it's raining and I feel cheery and content.

I don't remember what was on the TV during this shot, Law and Order UK perhaps? All I remember is the Lady was trying very hard to stay awake and finish watching. That didn't quite work out.

Was desperately bored and restless tonight. In frustration I grabbed the D50 and the new tripod, then headed over to the community pool. I spent just over an hour there, from 9:28 to 10:37, and took over 50 photos. Started the evening listening to Molly Zenobia, but it really got going when I switched to Neutral Milk Hotel. Can I mention again how much I love night-shots?
Had trouble deciding on a photo, so I picked one of my favorites, and put the rest in a photo set on flickr. Most of the +50 pictures were crap, but there are 13 or so I like.

Just playing with the long exposure, y'all know how I do. Need to try this shot another time, with less distance. Cutting the time pretty close again on this one, the camera says it was 11:58pm.
And now I must sleep, because I have to be up at 6am to get ready for school.

I've been obsessed with this one photographer lately, and decided to reread the story that got me into him in the first place. It also happens to be the story that once had me listening to Howl on repeat for a week. It's not even a very good story? But I love what it's left me with.
Every summer my mother falls in love with the scent of this plant someone in our neighborhood has. This year she finally stole a sprig, so we could figure out what it was. Mr. Googs informed us that it was Night Blooming Jasmine, so we promptly went to the local nursery and bought one for her.
We've had it a few weeks now, and it does bloom every night, but it's been particularly strong the last two days. Couldn't even open the door last night without being assaulted by the smell.
