I actually did think about how Xenoblade 3’s ending after future redeemed affected the overall message like you mentioned with 1, but I actually don’t hate it.

Noah and Mio did in fact let go of each other in the ending. They didn’t know what was going to happen after origin restarted. They were willing to take the chance of never seeing each other or their friends again for the sake of their worlds. Of course they WANTED to stay, but they knew they couldn’t. But after the events of Aionios, the universes had actually became mixed of the same stuff.

Think about all the people in the city who were also descended of people like Noah and Mio, from Keves and Agnes. Noah and Mio I don’t think are the only star crossed lovers of this whole game. The city people did exist, and where does all the data from them go? Origin.

The universes were drawn to each other, and after Origin’s restart I believe it wasn’t only Noah and Mio’s desire to see each other again, but the combined collective of every human in Aionios who wanted to be with each other, defy the fate of them being apart forever. Be Whole again. And the universes kinda wanted that too. They were drawn to each other and wanted to be one again.

Aionios happening just opened that door again because of people from the city. Humanity’s collective fear of what would happen to them if the worlds collided created Moebius. I think humanity’s collective feelings of love for the opposite people in the universe, their willingness to accept the future whatever may happen to them, and BECAUSE they felt that love in Aionios was because the worlds merged to be as one again. And I think thats pretty neat.

I do kinda get what you’re saying about Future Redeemed’s ending about being a cop out, but I don’t exactly think it is. I don’t think they threw out all of 1’s ideas of “do not let people in power control you, and fight the predestined fate put in place by higher powers.” Noah and Co. already fought that battle against Moebius, who was keeping everyone controlled underneath their thumbs. Their fate was to be reborn and used as child soldiers to fuel the everlasting now.

Xenoblade games have a tendency to swap motivations as well which I think is so awesome. Xenoblade 2 had you saving the world from annihilation, Xenoblade 3 has you trying to annihilate your world for the sake of one in the far future, where you’re free to choose your path. Free to choose a different smile than what Aionios offered.

Sorry for the long ass response I just adore Xenoblade as a collective series and love to talk about it

I’m sorry if this is kinda basic, but if you put a well written “lovers are reborn and find each other in almost all of their lives” story beat in front of me, I will 9 times outta 10 eat that shit up.

You mean that a couples love is so strong that they are always drawn to each other no matter when they’re reborn?

You mean that they get to relive meeting each other, growing closer and closer every moment, and eventually falling in love all over again?

You mean that even if their story might end in tragedy, they will still find their love in another life?

You mean their fates are so strongly intertwined, that they’ll always find their missing puzzle piece?

You mean that their love is so strong it will literally defy time and space to allow them to be with each other once again??

You mean they’re so perfect for each other they can’t help but fall in love?????

I’m a sappy romantic at heart, I fear.
