I NEED THIS 🎯

found entrapta in xc3

except he is is this 4 year old boy (12ish physically)

his name is Valdi and he looks like a Mechonis (android) from Xenoblade Chronicles 1 except hes vat grown and ages at the same rate as humans somehow because thats how everyone in this game ages, it is pretty fucked up

he is the “best engineer in this side of the war”

anyway here are the reasons valdi is entrapta

1. he picked a fight with 6 experienced fighters because he wanted to get more supplies for his tech 2. when we beat him he goes WOW, SO COOL, TEACH ME EVERYTHING YOU KNOW and our characters are like ???? why would we do that? you tried to fight us??? 3. our resident nopon techie guy is like “your robots were shit because you upgraded light armored robots with heavy robot weaponry” and hes like “oooh that makes sense” 4. “what colony are you from?” “30!!” “who is the commander?” “oh that would be me!!” “you fucking wot mate???” we see him talking to an exasperated advisor, he literally ditches all of his duties so he can come out and fight us with robots 5. “it’s okay i can walk home and make new robots to escort me from random scrap!”  "wouldnt that require salvaging??“ "oh shit, yeah. uhh i might need help” 6. “what were we doing here again??” “salvaging??? did you forget??” “oh yeah!!!” 7. he only makes Attack robots because he loves making Attack robots and has literally never considered doing anything else 8. he sees a bunch of destroyed robots, indicating a lost battle, and is like “wow! this makes me sad because i just WANT TO SALVAGE ALL THIS TECH” and the other characters want to fight him, and then he comes up with some random profound shit he heard from his dead master 9. he. he says this!!!! he says this fucking line!!!!!!

image

Entrapta: Well, there’s no reason to get huffy because an experiment fails.  Failure is a vital part of scientific endeavor!!!!

(i actually made this joke on tumblr the other day after it was in a trailer, and forgot about it and was taken offguard when he said that quote ingame) 10. he is told “you know if you are sick of people taking advantage of your Attack robots and getting themselves in trouble, you can start making Non-Attack robots, right???” and he goes “OH YEAH… IVE NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT BEFORe, WTF” 11. he makes an Emily on the spot. he makes a robot to look after himself out of scrap from robots that hed built to kill people. i dont make this up.  12. someone from Management (one of the bad guys) shows up and says “wtf??? you wanna stop making destroyer robots??? from what i recall, you said "ill be fine as long as i can make my death robots”, right???“

13. he also doesn’t really give a shit about helping Agnians, the opposite side of the war, or his colony’s sworn enemy Ouroboros, because he kind of sees everyone as an opportunity to learn more about technology. he is the ONLY character in the game so far to not care what side of the fight he’s helping.

EDIT: 14. even though he kind of sends them to their death, he thinks all the robots he creates are sapient. he says “in the next life ill make you into the best protector robot” immediately before he pulls a gun on his best creation to destroy it. then his giant mech is stolen, his emily-bot dies protecting him, and he has his mandatory xenoblade chronicles breakdown about how he is a small guy but his robots taught him he was worth something. this kid is fucking wild.

EDIT 2: 15. i told him everything in his life was a lie and he didnt give a shit!!! he let me liberate his colony without asking any questions or talking to any of them about it.

16. then he asked to join my team and when i accepted it said that I “inherited his traversal ability and can now climb up walls”, which sounds about right.

one thing I don’t think I’ve seen talked about in XC3 is how some characters are just given some decent fangs. Like specifically non-catgirl characters like Lanz and now Shulk. I love it and hope we see more characters with them

Me when I gain god-like powers and make a crossover event happen between 2 separate universe’s protagonists because I thought it would be cool as fuck if they met and fought together

Nopon are fucked up little creatures and I'm having trouble deciding what detail about them I like the most:

While the non-human races of XC1 & Xc2 were either created directly by the gods to fit into their little ttrpg world or the product of rapid evolution to survive in alrest, nopon just existed on earth.

They canonically have more interest in human women than other nopon.

The drug trafficking ring.

The core crystal trafficking ring.

complicity in, and profiteering off of a forever hell-war between two factions of enslaved child soldiers. their cutsey dialect being intentionally crafted to make it easier to scam people.

at least 3 members of their species have reached a nirvana-like state, and have gained the ability to bend space and time to their will. they use this ability for fanfiction purposes. riki joined the party in xc1 because his wife was threatening to divorce him.

riku was 100% aware of everything that was happening in xc3, he simply did not tell anyone.

When I first started playing Xenoblade 3 I was genuinely taken aback by how relevant the entire thing felt. But that’s something that I love about 3 in particular.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 seemed very political to me when I started playing it and was unfamiliar with the rest of the series. (Spoilers ahead.)

What do we see there? Two nations are at war with each other, even though the people on either side are no different from each other and have no reason to be hostile. The only ones who benefit from this are their rulers. And they have elevated national hatred to an absolute. But the real reasons for war are completely different: distribution of resources and distraction. The elite see the masses as a resource, and the elite owns this resource via Flame Clock system (in this reality, it is the life force itself, but in some other reality it could be the means of production). By the way, the "leaders" of both nations are just puppets in their hands, literally. The common people wonder what they are fighting for and whether they need it (the answer is 'no'). Only by uniting can they fight back against the ruling class. And only violently, because there is no way to win peacefully. The liberated colonies of both nations and the City must work together to do this effectively.

...So, what is this idea that tells us that people who are being oppressed and used as a resource by some group of people in power should rise up, put their differences aside, and unite against that group, against their REAL enemy, if they want a better life?

As someone who has the misfortune of being a citizen of a country that is currently engaged in such a senseless war, I can say that it very much reflects the problems and questions that many people are facing right now. And it offers a solution that a communist ideology would offer, yeah. (Let us also remember that extreme militarism and nationalism, on the other hand, are features of the far-right totalitarian system.)

…But then there is the whole Queens thing, the intersection of universes, the shift in emphasis to philosophy, and the fact that the new social order built in this struggle will be thrown in the trash with the Origin reboot. It all continues the general philosophical line of thinking about the future that is characteristic of the series as a whole (yes, there is the idea of "no gods, no masters" and that people should determine their own future, which echoes the idea that power and resources should belong to the people, but it is still more general). But still, the third part turned out, in my opinion, more social and relevant to our present.

I actually did think about how Xenoblade 3’s ending after future redeemed affected the overall message like you mentioned with 1, but I actually don’t hate it.

Noah and Mio did in fact let go of each other in the ending. They didn’t know what was going to happen after origin restarted. They were willing to take the chance of never seeing each other or their friends again for the sake of their worlds. Of course they WANTED to stay, but they knew they couldn’t. But after the events of Aionios, the universes had actually became mixed of the same stuff.

Think about all the people in the city who were also descended of people like Noah and Mio, from Keves and Agnes. Noah and Mio I don’t think are the only star crossed lovers of this whole game. The city people did exist, and where does all the data from them go? Origin.

The universes were drawn to each other, and after Origin’s restart I believe it wasn’t only Noah and Mio’s desire to see each other again, but the combined collective of every human in Aionios who wanted to be with each other, defy the fate of them being apart forever. Be Whole again. And the universes kinda wanted that too. They were drawn to each other and wanted to be one again.

Aionios happening just opened that door again because of people from the city. Humanity’s collective fear of what would happen to them if the worlds collided created Moebius. I think humanity’s collective feelings of love for the opposite people in the universe, their willingness to accept the future whatever may happen to them, and BECAUSE they felt that love in Aionios was because the worlds merged to be as one again. And I think thats pretty neat.

I do kinda get what you’re saying about Future Redeemed’s ending about being a cop out, but I don’t exactly think it is. I don’t think they threw out all of 1’s ideas of “do not let people in power control you, and fight the predestined fate put in place by higher powers.” Noah and Co. already fought that battle against Moebius, who was keeping everyone controlled underneath their thumbs. Their fate was to be reborn and used as child soldiers to fuel the everlasting now.

Xenoblade games have a tendency to swap motivations as well which I think is so awesome. Xenoblade 2 had you saving the world from annihilation, Xenoblade 3 has you trying to annihilate your world for the sake of one in the far future, where you’re free to choose your path. Free to choose a different smile than what Aionios offered.

Sorry for the long ass response I just adore Xenoblade as a collective series and love to talk about it

I’m sorry if this is kinda basic, but if you put a well written “lovers are reborn and find each other in almost all of their lives” story beat in front of me, I will 9 times outta 10 eat that shit up.

You mean that a couples love is so strong that they are always drawn to each other no matter when they’re reborn?

You mean that they get to relive meeting each other, growing closer and closer every moment, and eventually falling in love all over again?

You mean that even if their story might end in tragedy, they will still find their love in another life?

You mean their fates are so strongly intertwined, that they’ll always find their missing puzzle piece?

You mean that their love is so strong it will literally defy time and space to allow them to be with each other once again??

You mean they’re so perfect for each other they can’t help but fall in love?????

I’m a sappy romantic at heart, I fear.
