"Did you know Karens existed back in the days of old Hisui? I didn't call them that until Noriko showed up and taught me the term, of course, but human entitlement is as old as time! I met my fair share of Karens when I was working with the Ginkgo Guild. Here's a story about one.
"So as you have probably observed of me, I constantly have Togepis all around me. When I was still with the Guild, there was this lady who saw the Togepis and asked if they were mine. I said they don't strictly belong to me, but they don't belong to anyone else, either. Then she asked how much I was selling them for. I told her no, they were my babies and they weren't for sale. She then asked me if she could pay me something to go get a Togepi for her, and I said no, I had other things to do with my spare time. She got mad at this, saying everywhere to find Togepis was so far away, and she didn't want to spend all that time traveling there--and I in my best customer service voice tried to tell her calmly that ma'am, the Ginkgo Guild isn't a Pokémon searching service, and besides, if she wants to raise one, she needs to keep in mind that the Togekiss they grow into are birds of prey and must be treated as such…
"But she wasn't going to listen. She told me if I was going to be such a spoilsport she wasn't going to let me 'ruin her fun' and if the Togepi weren't technically mine she could take them if she wanted to. Well, my friend, you shouldn't be fooled by Togepi's sweet exterior--those tiny sweet hatchlings can definitely defend themselves! I would have mauled her myself, but I knew my little egg children could give her the comeuppance she deserved. She picked one up--and she didn't even have enough time to turn around and run off with her before the Togepi used Metronome…
"…and Roar of Timed her DIRECTLY in the face."
He laughs.
"That particular Togepi wasn't allowed to be with me when I was doing sales from that point on. It made her so sad to hear that and I tried to stick up for her, but Ginter insisted. But now that I don't have to play by anyone's rules anymore, I tell all the baby Pokémon who travel with me that they can do whatever they want to any Karen who tries to pick them up without their consent. And considering the fact I've got probability manipulation so I can give my Togepis' Metronomes a little nudge…Will I ever be able to perfectly recreate that glorious moment when that horrible, horrible woman got blasted with a taste of her own just desserts? Maybe not. But can I? Absolutely."
