13. what themes/motifs do you hope other people notice most about your character?
I'm not sure if I have any themes that I hope people would notice more, but the big ones I love writing that I hope always come across are:
Struggling with the harmful effects of anger, even if you're right to be angry
Wrestling with the divine
The process of forgiveness and redemption, with references to teshuvah, the Jewish form of forgiveness--sincere repentance + not committing a transgression again + actually doing things to make it up to the person/people you harmed
Capitalist, authoritarian and colonial institutions can never be reformed; they must be dismantled
Healing from trauma, particularly that caused by bigotry and abuse
And then of course I have two favorite character types which I hope will soon become apparent as I continue to write:
Sassy/snarky morally grey rebellious revolutionaries who are loud about social issues and who are usually (though not always) young and bratty
Bullies who do horrible things but actually they're undergoing horrific treatment at home and would be infinitely better people if they were exposed to healthy influences, taught different and learned how to cope
I swear I can hardly be interested in writing any muse that's not either of those two things and of the ones that aren't those two things I can only stay interested if they have a horrible angsty backstory. GALSDKFJDSAKLFJSADLKFJ

#3: Oh shit that's a tough one. Something I haven't really thought. about. I never tried to take after anyone's writing style, I've always just done my own thing. Maybe I would be an even better writer if I thought about someone to model my writing after, but given I only have like 1-2 hours of free time a day, I barely have time to read.
I will say this though. I learned more about writing from talking to people and interacting in the RPC than I EVER did from the classes I took for my fancy ass Ivy League creative writing degree. I do not consider myself having learned how to write until age 26, two years after I graduated that program, and I feel like I owe that more to actually practicing on my own & with others than any workshop or creative writing method class I ever did. I only remember one (1) single solitary thing that I learned for that degree, but the advice people have given me and the lessons I learned here will always stick with me. I love all you guys so much <3
#4: This is a subjective question because my favorite muse of all time rotates based on which blorbo I am hyperfixating on at the moment, and is also directly correlated with the muse who I think is the sexiest of all time. But if I had to pick one character to be my Most Blorbo Of All Time, it would have to be my fanregion champion OC, Tobias Mendelssohn. I've been on such a journey with him--originally the way I wrote him before he became a fanregion Champion, I now find weird and actually quite distasteful. But I feel like as I practiced more and researched more about Judaism (which was his religion at the time) my portrayal of him really got better, to the point that not only do my Jewish friends all love him to death, researching for portraying him and finding joy in how he expresses his Judaism was also what inspired me to convert. I anticipate I will have many more blorbos in the years to come, but will any of them be so impactful to me that they convince me to have a new religion? Doubtful.

14. which roleplay community has been your favorite to write in?
I think in my heart, my favorite RP community is Pokémon. No matter how many other fandoms I hop to, I keep coming back to Pokémon; this usually correlates with my interest in those other fandoms eventually dying while my Pokémon hyperfixations still stand strong. But you know what fandom should be my most favorite RP community? Death Note. I liked everyone I met there and never saw a lick of drama from anyone--it's the best fandom experience I've ever had and up until I was prompted to think about my fandom experiences with this question I've been sorely underrating it. If I could control my RP hyperfixations, I should probably switch them from Pokémon to Death Note in a heartbeat but as things are now, the heart wants what it wants.

#1: What is the proper balance of pragmatism and compassion for your friends when choosing who remains on your team?
"There are two different answers to this question. One is if you're picking Pokémon who come with you when you're fighting to kill. Take it from someone who has fought in an actual revolution: it takes a very specific kind of Pokémon to be both willing and able to do that. And if a Pokémon isn't one of them, you HAVE to say no, no matter how 'awesome' or 'badass' they think that joining a revolution is--otherwise you endanger both them AND everyone they're fighting alongside. Just make sure you help them understand that there's absolutely no shame in not being right for that kind of work, and that you'll still be their friend no matter what.
"When it comes to training Pokémon for more casual battles or for Contests, I have an altogether different philosophy: There is no such thing as bad Pokémon, only bad Trainers. Of course, if a Pokémon really doesn't want to do either Contests or battles or both, you shouldn't force them--you should let them choose what they want to do. But if they want to be the best there ever was, you BETTER put your back into making them shine and you BETTER not ditch them just because you're too impatient or incompetent of a teacher to bring out the best in them. Anything less is downright anti-Pokémon, and that's a hill I'm willing to die on."

"Girl, I'm as strong as the gods, and they actually let me say that without smiting me. Of course I'm going to have a bias for this answer. I think people should get to be as strong as they need to be. Like, my sister? Who's a literal Archchosen? Whose job it is to punch the stuffing out of Rayquaza if he pulls some fuckshit like Arceus did by threatening to flood the world a second time? She gets to be as strong as she wants, okay. But when it comes to people like pigs--well, I mean cops--in the countries that still have them, I think we can all agree that they neither need nor deserve to have Pokémon on the level of living weapons of mass destruction in their pocket."
How much responsibility should a Champion have in the matters concerning their region?

"This might sound like a surprise to you, considering I'm a Champion, but I don't think we should have all the responsibility. Hoenn actually has a Hoennese Council of Elders that works above the League, and as the League we're actually just one part of the larger governance structure in the Hoennese Peoples' Collective. One huge part of that is that we acknowledge the need to trust local governance structures to do their jobs. I would respect and listen to a village elder just as much as I would respect the Council. When we make decisions, we do so with a strong sense of interconnectedness and community--even in the days of Hoennese royalty like my family we all knew it was a bad idea for the upper levels of governance never to listen to their people. The League's power, the Collective's power and the Elders' power all comes from one thing: the fact we not only work for our people, we work with them--and we are them."

"It is our responsibility to seek justice for our people. But only the people can truly decide what justice is, and whether we provided it. If someone decided we could not provide what they needed and sought it themselves, would I be annoyed or even angry with them at first? Of course. Perhaps, though, after enough time has passed for those things to be hindsight, I might see things from their point of view, or perhaps not…"

I think those versions of me should resign their positions as both Sootopolitan spiritual authorities and League members IMMEDIATELY. Leagues that allow children to solve all their problems absolutely cannot be trusted. Part of me even regrets letting the young Heroes of my region get involved at all."

#2: If you had to choose between a Pokémon you really like but who isn't as strong versus a Pokémon you're less bonded to but who is stronger, which would you pick?
"What a ridiculous false dichotomy. The answer depends on the situation, and in many situations you don't have to choose at all. If I were in a low-stakes battle and yet still wished to win, I might pick the former. If I were to battle to achieve my revolutionary aims, I would pick the former because I would need the Pokémon who fought by my side to be loyal and trusted partners. Sometimes you do need to choose the stronger one in order to get the job done--but sometimes, strength also isn't everything; if I need an expert rather than a fighter, I wouldn't even care about battling strength when choosing who to fix the problem. And if I were to battle to raise my Pokémon companions' experience, I would use both--the former to increase their strength, the latter to increase our bond. Who comes up with these sorts of questions?"

My opinions on callouts
Sometimes I see a callout going around and I think oh yeah that was definitely warranted. A lot of the time, I see callouts going around that I don't fully agree with or that in some aspects could have been written better but I understand the other parts. I tend not to reblog these though because when it comes to serious things like that I only want to reblog things that I endorse 100% unless I add commentary, and I don't usually add commentary because it's not the hill I want to die on. And sometimes, whether a callout is warranted or not, it will have been done out of spite--which is not something I would ever want on my blog. A lot of the time though, if a callout is very long and involves a situation I have no familiarity with--to be honest, I can't even read it. Not even because of the content or anything. It's because my brain is just completely unable to parse that much text & that many screenshots' worth of information about conflict. I also don't end up reblogging these even if I do see enough to know I should avoid the people called out because given the fact I don't reblog anything serious that I don't completely endorse, I also don't reblog anything serious that I haven't read all the way through because when it comes to accusations I am a massive stickler about seeing everything with my own eyes.
No matter what, the reason I don't feel like doing them anymore--or even trying to warn people in private as much as I used to in my now-long-ago college days--is because I've learned the hard way that no matter HOW justified your callout is, SOME FUCKSHIT is going to happen in the backlash that makes the situation a whole lot harder. I just don't have the mental capacity or the energy to get involved because callout = you get yelled at and even if I'm 100% sure I'm right I don't like getting yelled at. If one wants to do a callout it involves weighing whether the emotional toll is worth the benefits such as putting your story out there and speaking out about something important to you…Usually for me it isn't.
My favorite type of threads
As you've seen I hate getting involved in OOC drama…But I can't get enough of stirring up drama IC! One of my favorite thread types is anything involving conflict. I have a special love of petty drama type threads, heck in the past I had multiple Pokémon Contest RP events centered specifically around petty drama in the Coordinating scene and my last one even resulted in one of my characters losing his whole-ass CHAMPIONSHIP POSITION because he was a petty little shit. On the other hand, I also love hardcore serious angst--characters getting called out for their faults, villainous/morally grey muses going ham on their targets, threads touching the nerves of deep trauma or muses' deeply-held personal beliefs, horrible fights where everyone says something they regret…If anyone's looking to start a fire, I'll show up with matches and gasoline!
But of course, I can't have angst all the time. I also love seeing my muses happy and especially healing from all the horrible trauma I like to inflict on them--the endgame for all of my morally grey blorbos is finding at least some measure of redemption, healing and happiness. As such I also love tooth-rotting fluff! I haven't threaded these things yet but I have a lot of plots planned and wishlist ideas where my characters show affection and care toward those they love and they get the same back, where my muses mostly Volo engage in lighthearted mischief, where they have fun with and bond with their Pokémon--and since some of them are shapeshifters where they even get head scritches and belly rubs as Pokémon! Man, I always thought I was bad at fluff/slice of life type things because I viewed it as like "small talk" which my autistic brain cannot do, but with sweet events like @floccesyfluff-fest that I had an absolute blast at and the type of threads I'm doing right now, I think that's changing.
My favorite type of ships
I notice that over the years as my desire to write stories covers more and more characters in my hyperfixation regions (and more and more interrelations between my characters in general), I've started shipping a lot more of my characters with each other. The unavailable status of muses like my Steven/Wallace/Zinnia polycule might cause some people not to want to RP with those muses, but when I get a beautiful mental image of two of my characters together I just can't help it, I have to make them kiss LOL. I will, however, do polyamorous ships where my paired-up characters also partner up with other muns' characters in a polycule. So I think now that is my favorite type of ship! GDLSKFJDLKFJ
In theory when shipping with others my favorite type of ship is a slow burn, but in practice I usually end up not having the energy or headspace to write it all out. I usually also stumble into ships rather than approaching someone specifically to ship, which I feel is a much more natural and organic way of doing things--I don't think I've ever thought of shipping my muses right off the bat with any of my partners outside muns of muses who have canon romantic relationships with mine. Once you get to ship with me though, unless your muse doesn't want kids, it's a guarantee that I will dive straight into making fankids because honestly I love fankids as much as I love the actual ships. Fucked up irredeemable pieces of shit who embody everything I find wrong with some aspect of the world; many of my characters of this type are so fucked up and irredeemable that I don't even feel comfortable RPing them and they remain only as NPCs in my characters' backgrounds
Any character who likes causing mischief, whether benevolent or malicious
Troubled geniuses, particularly of the polymath variety, who have been or will be massively influential in multiple aspects of history
Alternately, soft little meow meows who are average in every way but who are really and honestly just trying their best

"Did you know Karens existed back in the days of old Hisui? I didn't call them that until Noriko showed up and taught me the term, of course, but human entitlement is as old as time! I met my fair share of Karens when I was working with the Ginkgo Guild. Here's a story about one.
"So as you have probably observed of me, I constantly have Togepis all around me. When I was still with the Guild, there was this lady who saw the Togepis and asked if they were mine. I said they don't strictly belong to me, but they don't belong to anyone else, either. Then she asked how much I was selling them for. I told her no, they were my babies and they weren't for sale. She then asked me if she could pay me something to go get a Togepi for her, and I said no, I had other things to do with my spare time. She got mad at this, saying everywhere to find Togepis was so far away, and she didn't want to spend all that time traveling there--and I in my best customer service voice tried to tell her calmly that ma'am, the Ginkgo Guild isn't a Pokémon searching service, and besides, if she wants to raise one, she needs to keep in mind that the Togekiss they grow into are birds of prey and must be treated as such…
"But she wasn't going to listen. She told me if I was going to be such a spoilsport she wasn't going to let me 'ruin her fun' and if the Togepi weren't technically mine she could take them if she wanted to. Well, my friend, you shouldn't be fooled by Togepi's sweet exterior--those tiny sweet hatchlings can definitely defend themselves! I would have mauled her myself, but I knew my little egg children could give her the comeuppance she deserved. She picked one up--and she didn't even have enough time to turn around and run off with her before the Togepi used Metronome…
"…and Roar of Timed her DIRECTLY in the face."
He laughs.
"That particular Togepi wasn't allowed to be with me when I was doing sales from that point on. It made her so sad to hear that and I tried to stick up for her, but Ginter insisted. But now that I don't have to play by anyone's rules anymore, I tell all the baby Pokémon who travel with me that they can do whatever they want to any Karen who tries to pick them up without their consent. And considering the fact I've got probability manipulation so I can give my Togepis' Metronomes a little nudge…Will I ever be able to perfectly recreate that glorious moment when that horrible, horrible woman got blasted with a taste of her own just desserts? Maybe not. But can I? Absolutely."

#13: How many languages do you speak?
English and formerly Chinese. I used to be nearly fluent, now I don't think I could string two sentences together LMFAO. I do think I still understand it well enough though that I could tell if someone was shittalking me in it tho LOLOLOL And when depression isn't kicking my ass, I will finally pick up Hebrew!
#18: If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I haven't thought much about travel because doing it again is such a far-off dream, so I don't have a dream destination--but here are some locations that I think would be nice to go to or visit again:
China. I've already been to Beijing and Shanghai and I'd like to go there again, but I have also always wanted to go to Guilin and see the iconic mountains!
Japan. What I would give to go to the Pokémon Center in Tokyo again. And the deer park in Nara. And all the wonderful restaurants I ate such delicious and healthy food at. And the beautiful streets that I wandered at night. Plus if I go again I will make extra sure to visit the cat island! And how can I forget that I actually got sick there and I went to the emergency room and the whole thing only cost a little over $100 even after they gave me a chest X-ray??? That left just as much of an impression on my disabled American ass as the tourist sites.
Germany. Specifically, Bavaria, so I can go to the legendary Black Forest. I actually have a character who was raised by fae who I headcanon to have been from the Black Forest, so I would love to witness her homeland for myself!
France. Specifically, Paris. Paris was one of the places that my family was considering going to when we were on our trips to Europe but it didn't make our list, which was a crime. I would have happily swapped our trip to England for a trip here.
Italy. Already been twice, favorites are Rome and Venice--I still remember the taste of the food at this one small out of the way little restaurant that I hope I can find again if I go there.
What was your first impression of the roleplay community on Tumblr? And what’s your impression of it now?
I've had many different impressions of the RP community, but the first impression I had was how welcoming everyone was of my wildly canon divergent character concept that I actually now consider to have been bad writing. (It was my 19 year old self's first attempt at writing political commentary, how good could it possibly have been? LOL) Looking back, I am eternally amazed and grateful that I found acceptance for my trash fire and that almost everyone in the community gave me space to grow and improve.
As for my current impression? I haven't been back long enough since the last time I left to see for myself how much has changed, but on the whole I do feel welcomed back. I was intimidated at first by the fact that a lot of new people didn't know me, but the fresh start I've been given is nice--and besides, enough of my old pals are still around that people know I'm not a complete stranger. I will say this though: Thank G-d for dice rolls now being commonplace to determine outcomes in events. As an event runner I have had entire event and event-related plots break down and people even having to be forcibly separated from each other due to nobody being able to decide whose muse/side would prevail. If I'd thought of this back when I was most active as an event runner myself, it would have saved me many hours of trouble!

My muse: Volo Asimov and Shirona Navi (bio for Volo here--lmao I forgot to properly link it.) The Fallenverse version of Volo isn't just highly connected with a god, he IS a god--and he's more noble than regular Volo...That is, unless you press certain buttons of his which show he can be just like his mainverse counterpart. Shirona Navi is his six-year-old daughter and the second reincarnation of his sister Shirona, who he is wildly overprotective of.
Interactions could be fun because in his universe Asimov is literally a fuckin' Girarceus (more explanation on how he got to be that way can be found in the Fallenverse document of my Info tab). Asimov, being a deity, would be able to sense the Legendary Vespedoza inside Amity (Volo could too, but he might also only get a less intense picture of it), and he would want to help her navigate this situation--but he would want to do it in a way that doesn't involve exposing it to her right away, as he believes that could put her in danger. Meanwhile, Shirona might also sense something different about Amity and be fascinated with her, with Asimov being "no you're not going NEAR her" because he's afraid Vespedoza might hurt Shirona, especially through Amity. But Shirona doesn't always like being told what to do by her dad and would go to see Amity anyway >:3 things could get interesting!

My muse: Wallace. Fun fact about my Wallace, I base him a lot on the pianist Franz Liszt--the fact that Wallace is considered the greatest Coordinator of all time capable of technical feats that no one else can do is one of the aspects in which he is like this! But another way in which Wallace resembles Liszt is that he has a spiritual side and he takes it very seriously. Liszt was actually a Catholic priest in his later life, which I think works well for a Wallace-Liszt parallel because the way I see it, Wallace canonically has spiritual duties--such as the fact he guards Sky Pillar! You mentioned Amity also having a Lorekeeper-like spiritual side in your last post, I think if these two met I could explore the spiritual aspects of Wallace's life more. Maybe she could meet him along with Zinnia, Steven and Asteria? It could be fun!
Something else I thought of is--I remember from Amity's bio that she had to give up dancing in order to take care of her siblings. If Wallace ever heard about that, he would feel so saddened--he's very big on making the arts more accessible to others and has helped a lot of kids with high ambitions in tough situations. So if she or any of her Pokémon were ever interested in dancing again he could help her (or her Pokémon independently of her) take it up again.

My muse(s): Volo, @ Lucas. I see some potential for sparks to fly here, because Lucas' bio describes him as "all business" whereas Volo as a fae has a side that's all jokes and messing with people...And oh boy, she loves messing with people who are all business >:3 I think Lucas might find her annoying, but also find that despite her trollish personality she is also truly dedicated to protecting Sinnoh--even versions of it that may not be her own.
