Sims 4 gameplay
Just one of the families in one of my multiple saves.
Almehan family household
Sammy Almehan- Sammy is 25 years old and married to Namora. Sammy met Namora at a pride event when the two were 16. They married two years later at 18 then had their oldest child, Colel, four months later. They then had their son, K’iin, when Colel was five. Sammy is non-binary and pansexual. They had one tattoo on their back when they met Namora but agreed to hold off on getting more until they and Namora were married.
Namora Almehan- Namora is 25 years old and is the wife of Sammy. She is the youngest child of her family with two older brothers, Ch’ah and Attuma. Namora’s scars come from multiple battles over the years. She has a 7 year old daughter named Colel and a 2 year old son named K’iin. Ch’ah and Attuma never had a problem with her being pansexual since all they wanted for her was a partner who would love her and treat her right and that was Sammy. Namora didn’t get her tattoos until she married Sammy since it is Mayan tradition to not get tattoos until one is married.
Colel Almehan- The oldest child of Sammy and Namora. She’s 7 years old and was born the same year her parents were married. She favors Namora in looks but has the same poor eyesight of Sammy. She was also born hard of hearing and as such has been wearing hearing aids since she was a baby. She loves her baby brother and Aunties and uncles and her cousins.
K’iin Almehan- The youngest child of Sammy and Namora. He’s 2 years old and was born 5 years after his parents married. He favors Sammy in ways of looks but has the fiery spirit of Namora. He loves dancing, playing on his wabbit tablet, his aunties, uncles and cousins. He was born with good hearing and so far doesn’t seem to have any vision problems.
Ch’ah Almehan- Ch’ah is 34 years old and the oldest of the Almehan siblings. Her married Shuri Udaku 4 years ago. The scars on his body are from multiple battles over the years similarly to his siblings but the scars on his face are from a battle against Shuri. He currently has no children but wishes to have them. He had no tattoos prior to his marriage to Shuri.
Shuri Udaku- Shuri is 30 years old and the youngest Udaku sibling. She has an older brother, T’challa who is married to Nakia and has a nephew named Toussaint. Shuri had her tattoos prior to her marriage with Ch’ah but agreed to not get anymore until after their wedding. The scar on her stomach is her only one and is from the battle against Ch’ah. She has no children currently but like her husband she wants to eventually have some. Shuri kept her last name upon marrying Ch’ah because she wished to keep some form of attachment to her parents that passed away.
I’ll post the other family here eventually. They are comprised of Attuma, Okoye, their son Itzamna, T’challa, Nakia and Toussiant (aka T’challa Jr.). I don’t plan to do any full on story telling with my sims just yet but just wanted to share this game play’s background.
It had been a rough week for Lewis Hamilton; being in the position as a CEO in a wealthy company with a three-year-old son wasn't the problem, at least not the entire problem.
The real problem right now was the lack of attention he himself gives his son Cai, schedules forbidding him to pick up his son from daycare and the shrinking gaps of breaks between meetings either with his workers or with other companies took a tool on Lewis' relationship with his son, who doesn't really understand nor care about the lack of attention. It had been worse after his mother, another man, with the name of Nico Rosberg his dad had explained to him, had left his dad two years ago, after being married for four years. Cai couldn't remember it anymore but his dad's friends often told him about how glad they were when his mother left his dad, despite the heartbreak the young Brit had to go through afterwards.
But now, his dad tries to give him the best attention when he was in the office of his dad, looking out of the high window or playing with his toys next to Lewis; Cai doesn't feel bothered by the lack of attention his dad sometimes has, he knows how much his dad works for the two of them.
"Val, hey," Cai picks up the distressed sound of his dad and the beloved nickname of his dad's friend and his babysitter's - Valtteri Bottas. As soon as his name falls, Cai knew something will happen, no matter if it's good or bad.
"Yeah, just around the park for about an hour, payment will be included if you want to...Thanks, man, I owe you something."
With that, Lewis hangs up and goes up to Cai, dresses him in thick and waterproof clothes, seeing as winter is slowly approaching and sends off his son with a proud smile.
Around two hours later, an hour later than agreed, Valtteri and Cai come back, with leaves sticking out of the dark curls of Cai's hair and Valtteri looking guilty, but sprinkle a little bit of smugness on the top too.
"Where were the two of you for so long?" Lewis crosses his arms and looks down to his son, who in return shows him a small figure made out of two chestnuts.
"Uncle Val and I met Mister Max and Nyx in the park and they showed me how to build figures! Look daddy, this is a cat!"
Perplexed, Lewis makes eye contact with Valtteri, who explains the whole situation to his best friend.
Turns out, "Mister Max" is actually the former delinquent student Max Verstappen, whose son Nyxon seems to be Cai's play buddy.
"Can we meet them again on Sunday, please?" Cai asked when the two Hamiltons drove back home, the radio of their car playing a soft tune with Cai sitting in the back.
"Do you know where they live?" Lewis counters with a playful undertone, knowing how excited his son must be after enjoying the small chestnut figurine made by himself.
"No... But I know they will be in the park on Sunday again! Please daddy, please let us meet them again!"
Lewis sighs gently in defeat and slows down when a streetlight turns red, giving the conversation between himself and Cai more focus now.
"I'll think about it if you're a good boy for the rest of the week. Maybe then we'll meet them again, hm?"
"Yay! Thank you, daddy!" Cai excitedly jumps around in his child seat, dark curls flying around in a wild manner and Lewis couldn't contain a small chuckle.
Maybe this day might distract him enough to relax again.
After their dinner, Cai runs upstairs to his room and Lewis had to follow him quietly to understand why his son reacts so strongly to his suggestion to meet the two Verstappens again.
Stopping in front of the colourfully decorated door of his son, Lewis listens to him talking to some of the stuffed animals Lewis had gifted Cai.
"Mister Dragon, do you know how excited I am to meet Nyx and Mister Max again? Nyx played with me and Mister Max watched over us with Uncle Val. And did you know, Mister Max was a cool guy back in school, Uncle Val talked about the cool stuff he did while they thought Nyx and I didn't listen to them talking? He loved a man called Daniel Something and did bad stuff together, but luckily,
they don't love each other anymore, making Nyx have only Mister Max as his mommy. Oh, and don't tell daddy about the plan Nyx and I have! We want daddy and Mister Max to talk to each other, so they won't be lonely anymore!"
Smiling at the antics of his son, Lewis decides to play clueless and knocks on the door softly, causing Cai to drop his big and chunky stuffed dragon, which also works as a pillow for the three years old child.
"Hey buddy, don't you think it's late already?" Lewis smiles and lifts up his son after receiving a nod, before walking to the bathroom to ready them for a well-deserved rest.
"Daddy, can you and Roscoe please sleep with me for tonight?" Cai mumbles out while hiding his face in Lewis' crook of the neck, yawning all the while and rubbing his eyes tiredly.
"Did you have another nightmare?" Cai sometimes faces bad dreams and often cries for Lewis in the middle of the night, craving his body near him to calm down again and to sleep through the night.
A soft nod from Cai and Lewis walks to Cai's room, collecting his space night light, Mister Dragon and Cai's favourite cosy blanket, before shutting off the big lights of Cai's room, then looking for Roscoe and to the grand end, walking to his own room.
"Prepare the bed for us, please. I'll be right back, my little prince," Lewis gently lays down Cai onto the big and soft bed, before helping up Roscoe and exiting the bedroom to shut down every other light of the house.
"Daddy, can I also have some water?" The tired voice of Cai can be heard through the quiet home of theirs and Lewis had to fight his inner self not to squeal with the thought of his son cuddling Roscoe close to his small body, blankets covering them and Mister Dragon sitting where Lewis would lie, only to ask his father through the house for a night drink.
"Of course little prince!"
A happy laugh follows and Lewis swears he is the luckiest father on earth to be able to experience this vulnerable moment with his son in their warm house. Just them, without any harmful or foreign people around them.
Despite having limited time for his son, Lewis knows when to be a good father for his son, having learnt it from the mistakes of his own father, and regretting nothing about it.
Not many fathers can say the same, most of them missing out on the time of their children being little and often forgetting about spending time together.
"Little Prince, what book did we say we'll read next?" He walks into his room with two bottles in his hands, knowing how hard it is to drink in a sleep-drunken state in the middle of the night, only to find his son almost asleep next to an already sleeping Roscoe.
"We wanted to read »Wolves of the Beyond«, daddy."
(Small fun fact, I have the German version of »Wolves of the Beyond«, so please be mindful of that when I refer to the books, thank you in advance.)
"Ah, right! Thank you, little prince. Shall we begin then?"
A nod and grabby hands later, Lewis sits onto the bed with Cai and Roscoe cuddled up to him, drinks next to them on the nightstand and the desired book in his hands.
"But remember what the nice librarian said, it's actually a book you shouldn't be allowed to read."
Cai nods again and yawns for the repeated time, before finding a comfortable spot on Lewis' hip and his body relaxes.
"Wolves of the Beyond, by Kathryn Lasky. Book One, Lone Wolf, Chapter One, The Beyond," Lewis falls into his narrator mood, knowing fully well how much Cai loves this mood.
"Before she felt even the first twinge in her belly, the she-wolf set out to find a remote birthing den. She knew somehow that this birth would not be the same as the others. She had been traveling for days now, and she could sense her time was near. So far she had seen nothing that would serve as a den. There were several shallow pits, but those wouldn’t do. Pits offered no shelter, and though it was almost spring, the weather could turn treacherous in a flash. The pups could freeze."
A small gasp leaves Cai's lips, his hands grasping for the cosy blanket of his and with twinkling
eyes,
he looks at the book, hoping for Lewis to continue.
"The sound of their fresh hearts beating so fiercely would grow dim under a thin glaze of ice until the hearts stopped, and there was only silence. This had happened before to the she-wolf. She had licked those three pups until her tongue was dry and bleeding from the cold shards, but she had not been able to keep up with the ice. This was her third litter. And this time, she knew she had to get far away from the pack, away from the clan, away from her mate, and most of all, away from the Obea."
"Daddy, what's an Obea?" The words fall from Cai's lips again and Lewis had to secretively look up the terms of words the author had used.
"An Obea is a rankless, sterile, she-wolf responsible for seeking malcadhs and taking them to a tummfraw to die, while a malcadh is a "cursed one"; a wolf who was born with a deformity and taken by the Obea to a tummfraw to go to heaven."
"And what is a tummfru- tummfa-"
"Tummfraw, my little prince. And a tummfraw a place where an Obea leaves a malcadh to go to heaven."
"Wolves are mean," Cai pouts and closes his eyes, presumably to imagine the scene, or because of tiredness, Lewis knows his son long enough for his antics.
"Finally, on the night of the fifth rising moon that now hung like an ice blade low on the horizon, she found a crevice under a rock ledge. She smelled it before she saw it. The scent of fox was distinct. She hoped it wasn’t a whelping den. Just the fox, dear Lupus. She sent up a silent prayer. She did not want to contend with fox kits."
"Once again, wolves are mean."
"And it had been just a fox—a fox waiting to give birth. The she-wolf routed her and took the den, settling in for her time. The fox smell lingered. Fine, she thought. It would provide another layer of concealing scent. She rolled in the scat that she found nearby and then snorted to herself as she imagined what her pups would think of their mum. No matter, they would live—and if need be, live away from the clan."
"Eww, I don't want to pet wolves anymore," Cai pulls a face and Lewis laughs. "Not all wolves are like this, little prince. Most wolves feel save enough not to do so."
"Then they came. Three pups, two tawny like their father, the other silvery gray. They were perfect in her eyes. Indeed, it took her a while to discover the one little flaw on the silver pup—a slight splay to his front paw. When the she-wolf examined it more closely, she saw that this paw had a dim tracery of a spiral, like a swirled star, on its footpad. It was odd, but certainly not a deformity. And she told herself the splay of that paw was minor. He was not malcadh, the ancient wolf word for “cursed.” It was such a slight flaw, and she had hope that the splay might lessen in the days that followed. The toes that pointed out might rotate back, and the tracery was so dim it wouldn’t leave a print even in soft mud. The silver pup was strong. She could tell by the way he sucked on her teat. Still, she was glad she had taken the precaution of finding a birthing den far away."
By the time he finished only the second page, soft snoring waves through the room, both Cai and Roscoe having fallen asleep in no time, leaving Lewis in a mood he rarely found himself in, a parental mood with no emotions like stress or panic.
Closing the book after marking the side and paragraph they stopped reading, Lewis put it away and slid under the blanket, choosing to pull Cai closer to him and closing his eyes, before drifting away into the faraway land of dreams.
Just a quick warning before reading, this chapter will start with a little bit of angst, so please keep that in mind while reading :)
March 16th 2019 - an unforgettable day for Max's son Nyxon. It's the Saturday after his third birthday on Wednesday and Max decided to celebrate it back home in the Netherlands where his family awaits them. He invited his parents, siblings, grandparents and aunts, uncles and cousins for Nyxon's birthday, knowing how much they missed out on his own birthdays when he grew up alongside his father's expectations for him to inherit the company one day. Happy Birthday's and other greetings were exchanged and Max leads his son to a filled table, presents from Max's parents and grandparents are lined up for Nyxon to open, and he indeed waits to open his presents with an eager gaze directed to the smaller presents. "Baby, what present would you like to open first?" Max asks Nyxon while he holds his son near his chest, fearing the little rascal would hurt himself if he let go. "That!" Nyxon points at a beautifully wrapped present from Victoria, who smiled brightly at the choice of Nyxon to open her gift before everyone elses'. This went on until only Max's big surprise gift is missing and he signalled everyone except his father to follow him so they can retrieve the gift - a small Caucasian Shepherd puppy he recently saw in an ad from an animal shelter for young and abandoned pets. He recently noticed Nyxon loving to watch documentaries about dogs and wolves and although his baby wasn't supposed to watch this kind of show with blood, Nyxon never really cared about the blood, always looking away when he noticed the dark music and missing out on the moment the wolf caught its prey and killing it. "I'm sure he'll love the puppy, Max. Have you thought of a name for this adorable little beast?" his uncle Anthony carries the freshly awoken puppy while his aunt Gerda holds her phone, ready to film the perfect moment of Nyxon's little brother being brought to him. However, her phone drops when Max ran past her, the time froze for them and Max was the worst. His father stands over his crying son, dark red liquid staining the hands of his father and the head of Nyxon, scaring not only Max but even the rest of the family. When he was close enough, Max pushed away his father and cradled his son close to his chest, shushing him softly with feather-like kisses on his nose, fearing the worst of injuries covering Nyxon's body and he was so focused on Nyxon that he didn't notice his family panicky calling the police and an ambulance while cursing Jos. In the flurry of panic and anger, the police and the paramedics arrive at the scene and took Nyxon with them, causing Max to panic and them having to deal with a panicking father with his wounded son while the culprit gets arrested. While driving to the hospital, Max holds Nyxon's hand in the gentlest way possible, afraid of breaking his son who's already looking pale enough to be mistaken as dead, even though he's still breathing and having a stable heartbeat. "Can you explain to us what happened, please?" one of the paramedics sits down with Max, keeping his distance to let the distressed father have his space. "I-I don't know what happened. My family, my baby and I wanted to celebrate his second birthday here and decided to gift him a puppy, which we all, except my father, went to get. And when we came back, both were covered with blood, my baby's blood." The paramedic nods and tells Max everything he needed to know, from the state Nyxon's in and what might happen with his father, before asking him about the association with Jos. "Are you perhaps the infamous rebellious son of his - Max Emilian Verstappen?" Only then did Max realise how much he hated to be known as the son of Jos Verstappen; the son who hates the position at the top and who was only known by the media because of his family. He wasn't like them, he wanted to have a quiet life with Nyxon and the puppy, maybe with even more pets in the future but that could wait. "This man isn't my father, at least not by relationship. He only ensured my existence, nothing more. Family doesn't hurt one another, especially not
children from
your own bloodline!" The paramedic nods and keeps a neutral silence between the two adults until they arrived at the hospital, where Nyxon's directly pushed into an empty room which Max couldn't identify.
"Please wait a little bit and have faith. Your son has the best doctors and nurses around him. And Mama?"
»Mama? Why would the paramedic call me mama?«
"Mamy? Are you still sleeping?" No, Max couldn't be imagining the voice of his baby talking to him in the form of the paramedic.
Only when the young Dutchman feels his body being shaken did he realise that his surroundings aren't real and with panic surging through him, he opens his eyes, only to be greeted by a small and blurry figure next to his, and he has to admit he only purchased it to have a better feeling about his baby lying next to him, big bed.
"Nyxon?" he questions groggily and rubs his eyes, wanting to see the figure more clearly to make sure it really is his little boy dressed in his dragon-themed sleep-onesie, dragging behind an oversized, and Max really regrets letting his friends spoil his baby, whale shark plush with stupidly big green eyes.
Knowing his mother-like figure of a father is awake, Nyxon waddles over to him and throws his plush onto the bed before he climbs up with Max's help and cuddles him.
"Good morning baby, why are you already awake?" Max kisses Nyxon's forehead and listens to his son's cute chuckles while trying to forget the nightmarish memories of his and the scars on the forehead and the rest of his body from other incidents.
"You promised to go to the park today with me and Cai," Nyxon pouts in a way Max knows he couldn't resist so he laughs and tickles his son, cherishing the fast-changing mood of his thanks to his baby.
"I promised to go with you tomorrow, you never mentioned wanting to go with Cai and today?" the Dutchman asks his son and with a sheepish "but I wanted to meet him again today" Max sighs in defeat, lying down again and pulling Nyxon gently onto his chest before reaching for his phone.
"Shall we call my old friend to see if he can help us out with your new friend?" Max knowingly waves his phone over his head while Nyxon squeals in excitement. "Yes, please! I wanna see Cai again!"
So, without further ado, Max dials the number of Valtteri and waits for two to three seconds until the Finn picks up with a yawn.
Val: *yawns* "Yeah?"
Max: *laughs* "Good morning Val, can I ask you something after that question?"
Val: "Yeah, sure?"
Max: "So, Nyxon and I met you and Cai, right?"
Val: "Uhm, yeah? What's your point?"
Max: *sighs with a smile* "Could you please ask Cai's father if Cai and Nyxon can meet at the park today?"
Val: *silence*
Nyxon: "Pwease?"
Val: "Aww, of course, little one! Just give uncle Val a minute and he'll make sure you and your buddy Cai can meet okay?"
With a shit-eating grin, Nyxon looks to Max and gives him a thumbs-up, knowing that his mommy only needs him to get his way through the day.
Max: "Thanks Val, can I repay you in any way?"
Val: "Yeah, could you please reserve a bigger ivy plant for Tiff and for me just some hanging fern?"
Max: "Sure, that's no trouble."
They hang up and with just as big a smile as Nyxon, Max stands up with Nyxon clinging onto him and the whale shark safely tugged under Nyxon's arms. Together, they walk downstairs to their small kitchen where they start their day.
"Where are Bear, Jimmy and Sassy?" a tired and almost sleeping Nyxon asks while snuggling closer to Max, who has to make them some warm breakfast.
Since the incident three years ago, Max never allowed himself to be separated from Nyxon, so he relied on the small puppy to keep his son company by being like a small brother. And of course, his son had to name this fluffball of dog Bear.
"You said he's a bear dog and he's fluffy, likes cuddles and has super duper soft fur, so his name's Bear!" Nyxon proclaimed back then, happy with his choice of a name and since then, Bear had been an important part of their small family, alongside two young Bengal Cats with the names of Jimmy and Sassy.
"Why don't you call them? I'm sure they also want to eat breakfast with us, don't you think?" the Dutchman coos with the sleepy smile of his son and the soft calls for his furred friends/siblings.
As soon as the family is complete, they eat their breakfast and do their morning routine until the soft vibration of Max's phone distracts them while sitting on the soft couch in their living room, watching some German children's show Sebastian showed Nyxon some time ago and waiting for the time to tick down.

Unknown: Good morning Mister Vertspanne, I'm Cai's father and our mutual friend Valtteri asked me if I'd allow Cai to meet your son Nyxon. I allow it with my heart and wanted to ask you if you're also agreeing to the plan and also wanted to know where and when our sons should meet? Sincerely, Lewis
Max: Good morning Sir Lewis, Of course, I'm agreeing with the plan of our sons' meeting and I would think of the old park at the border of the city, but as for the time, I am not too sure about it, as I'm working during the morning until exact lunchtime and wouldn't feel too comfortable with Nyxon without me if you know this feeling, so it'd be helpful if you'd suggest a time. P.S. It's Verstappen, not Vertspanne, although I believe it's been a typo. Sincerely, Vertspanne
Lewis: Oh, my dear lord, I'm so sorry for the typo! And of course, do I know this feeling, as I have experienced these things too. And for the time, does shortly after lunchtime or early afternoon sound good? It would make a good stress reliever after a tiring day?
Max: That sounds amazing! And another quick question, may I bring our family dog with us? We barely leave him alone
Lewis: I'm not someone who declines such perfect sounding opportunity, can I also bring along our dog?
Max: No way you also have a dog?!
Lewis: Uh-huh, his name's Roscoe and he's a vegan 9-years-old Bulldog
Max: Sounds like a cute friend for Bear, he's a 3-years-old Caucasian Shepherd
Lewis: Sorry for asking, but did you name him?
Max: Gosh, no! Nyxon had him as a present and had the honour of naming him
Lewis: Aww. When do you have to work btw?
Max: Shit, thanks for being an alarm! I have to hurry now, see you at lunch!
Lewis: Bye😂
--
Gosh does Max feel embarrassed now; the stranger in form of Cai's father had to remind him that he needs to go to work on a Saturday morning.
"Momma, can I meet Cai again?" Nyxon rips Max out of his thoughts and with a smile, Max turns around and has to sigh in a loving manner after seeing his son dressed in high-quality clothes, which have some difficulties staying in one place. And even Bear is dressed up like Nyxon!
"We can meet him, but only after Mommy finishes today after lunch, okay? After that, we can meet Cai, his papa and even their doggie."
Nyxon's excited gasp and Bear's soft bark let Max know how much they love the idea and with a small smile, he starts to go to the front door where the wardrobe is, dressing in the appropriate way for a chilly autumn day while helping Nyxon to redress him.
"Shall we make them some lunch later while we have some breaks?"
"Yes, yes, yes! Cai and I want warm cookies!" "But we have to make sure we use ingredients that come from nature alone, yeah? Cai's papa said their dog lives vegan, so they all might live like it."
Nyxon nods innocently, somehow understanding that "coming from nature alone" and "vegan" are connected words and takes the leash of Bear's in his tiny mitten-covered hands before looking up to his momma.
"Ready?" Max looks down to Nyxon and takes the key before taking Nyxon's free hand and opening the door.
"Yes! Ready for planties and Cai!"
Before I continue writing anything, I'd like to give you some information about Cai and Nyxon.
Nyxon Ambrose Verstappen
Date of birth: Sunday, March 13th 2016 Parents: Max Emilian Verstappen (mother) and Daniel Joseph Ricciardo (father) Names meaning: Nyxon - a variant of Nixon, which means "son of peoples' victory" Ambrose - immortal
he never met his father (Daniel) due to his parents' breakup before he was even born
Max originally wanted to call Bear "Sirius" but Nyxon couldn't pronounce the name correctly and almost cried just to name the puppy Bear
he loves to colour Max's tattoo of the two lions, always talking about some imaginary adventures the lions could have experienced the time when he colours while Max films him for his mother and sister
the whale shark plush has the honorary name of "Bumblebee" but don't you dare to try to explain to Nyxon that a whale shark can't be named Bumblebee
Cai Alair Forest Hamilton
Date of birth: Wednesday, July 4th 2018 Parents: Nico Erik Rosberg (mother) and Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton (father) Names meaning: Cai - happy Alair - precious Forest - woods
different to Nyxon, Cai did actually meet his other parent, he just can't remember him anymore
Cai grew up beside Lewis in the office and knows almost everyone by now, getting treated every time he walks past them
Mister Dragon was a gift from Lewis and Valtteri, as they had watched "Raya and the Last Dragon" and Cai wanted to have a pet dragon just like Sisu, but smaller and more huggable!
and don't tell Lewis, but Cai and Uncle Val talked with Nyx and Mister Max about visiting Cai and daddy at work someday, okay?
And a small fun fact to the end, Max's names mean "greatest rival" (Max Emilian) while Lewis' means "famous battle warrior uncle/beloved" (Lewis Carl Davidson). Don't ask me why I know that, okay?
Hehe, playdate of Nyxon's and Cai's, the first face-to-face conversation of Max and Lewis and a "small" New Year's Eve special (5k words), coming!
Since the shop had opened, many hours have passed and Max's currently ringing up the last customer, an elderly woman from an obviously higher class with the nicest attitude and understanding towards Max and Nyxon.
"Is this all for today, Miss Notlimah?" the Dutch packs her flowers and hands over the little bag with the plants and looks over to the entrance of the shop where Nyxon and Bear are hiding; big ferns and monsteras concealing them from unsuspecting customers, or that's what Max wants them to think, as he can clearly see them hiding.
"Yes, that would be all for today, Max. And a very merry Christmas to you two" Miss Notlimah smiles and walks to the door to exit the shop when she felt a gentle tuck on her pants. Looking down, she sees a fidgeting Nyxon and a very confused Bear looking at her.
"Granny, will Santa come and visit mommy, Bear, Jimmy, Sassy and me? We were really good this whole year but the snow still hasn't arrived. Does Santa not like us?" The child starts to get teary-eyed, alarming both adults and the small pup beside him.
"Oh? Why wouldn't Santa visit you and your small family? From what I know about you, you were the best baby your mommy could think of, am I wrong? And I'm sure Santa only forgot to send the snow elves because he was so busy preparing the presents of every child in the world."
"Or maybe his machine broke again like we watched on TV and he has to repair it first before sending us the snow?" Max walks up to his son and kneels down, embracing him and gently stroking down his back, knowing how much Nyxon loves snow during winter.
"Promise?" Nyxon mumbles into Max's shirt, clutching the fabric tightly in his little hands and hiding his face in the comforting scent of his mommy's.
"I promise Santa will send the elves to bring the snow and hasn't forgotten about us, I promise."
With that, Miss Notlimah leaves the shop quietly for the two Verstappen's to calm down a little bit before deciding it's time to finally meet Cai and his father at the park.
"Baby, can you please get Bear's leash while I'm getting our clothes?"
Nyxon looks up to Max, small dark blue eyes seeking out the light blue eyes of his mother and with a big smile and the words "I'm a big boy, so please rely on me, momma!" Nyxon runs off to get Bear's leash, leaving Max alone with their clothes.
»Should I ask Sebastian about his presents again? I don't want him to spend hundreds again for Nyxon.«
"Mommy, we need help," a whining Nyxon stands behind Max, leash tangled up around his small body and Bear panting softly.
After helping Nyxon with the leash and getting dressed, the three Verstappens walk out of the shop with Max locking the door and taking Nyxon's free hand to warm it up and a small backpack filled with vegan lunch on Max's back.
The walk to the park is filled with laughter on the part of Nyxon's, caused by a happily jumping Bear on his leash and Max's soft tickles on Nyxon's sides.
Since the incident, Max tries his best to provide Nyxon with the happiest life without a father and grandfather, always getting criticized by strangers when Nyxon refers to him as "mommy" or "momma".
They don't know how much Max struggles under their harsh glares directed at him, how much he fought for his name not to be associated with his father's anymore and how proud he is of his baby to show them all a big smile, despite the mean, and with mean Max means gory and cruel, comments they dropped onto him because of his scars. "Mommy isn't at fault!" he'd always defend Max, showing off his scars like trophies and claiming he fought a bad guy to save his mommy, which he sort of did.
Arriving at the park, Max spots their usual bench being occupied by another man with his son, at least he thinks it's a father and a son, and Max squints to see if the child is Cai, which he is.
"Do you want to greet Cai?" he looks to Nyxon who's standing with Bear next to him, slightly shivering and Max had to bite his lips to prevent himself from smiling.
His son can be cute sometimes, excited to meet his friend but scared by meeting the father. He often lived through the moments of parents pulling back their children because of Nyxon's scars, hurting and scaring the poor boy in the end.
"Mama, mag ik daar echt heen? Wat als hij me niet mag en Cai verbiedt me te zien? Ik vind Cai echt leuk..." Nyxon starts to whimper in Dutch, knowing well how hard it is to understand for english speaking people.
(Translation: "Mommy, can I really go there? What if he doesn't like me and forbids Cai to see me? I really like Cai...")
"Natuurlijk mag je schat. Ik weet zeker dat hij je al leuk vindt als Cai zo blij en opgewonden is om weer met je te spelen," Max combs his hand through Nyxon's neatly made hair and smiles, knowing that his efforts go to waste as soon as Nyxon and Cai start to play, run and to tumble.
(Translation: "Of course, you can baby. I'm sure he already likes you when Cai is so happy and excited to play with you again.")
Now happy, Nyxon starts to run to Cai, Bear following him and before one of their parents could react, both boys and dogs start to sprint away, hiding away in a small group of bigger bushes and leaving behind their parents.
Seeing the man standing up, Max walks up to him and stops dead in his tracks afterwards. The man is stunning!
If Max had to describe him, he would probably be too mesmerised by the rich brown skin, warm brown eyes and beautiful braided hair. "Are you Nyxon's father, Mister Verstappen?"
»Oh god, he also has a nice voice.«
»Man, this man really looks good. No wonder why Cai wanted us to talk to each other.«
"Yes, I'm Mister Verstappen, but please call me Max, since our children are playing with each other right now."
A hand is presented to Lewis and with an innocent smile, the Brit takes the hand and kisses it in an old-fashioned way, causing a soft blush to decorate Max's cheeks and a shy smile to appear.
"It's my pleasure to meet you, Mister Max Verstappen. Please call me Lewis then."
"Lewis Hamilton?" Max tries to pronounce, only to have a slight lisp on the s, causing Lewis to chuckle fondly.
"Yes, Lewis Hamilton-"
"I'm sorry to interrupt you, but I think I heard your name before."
Panic surges through Lewis, had he just blown his disguise? Is Max going to be disappointed or disgusted by him having a child?
"You're normally busy."
Flabbergasted, Lewis looks at Max, unable to say something to the Dutchman who just said the words others use as an insult while talking about him and Cai.
"What do you mean with that?" the Brit sighs and already readies himself to be insulted.
"What I mean? Well-"
"Mommy!" Nyxon runs up to them and grabs Max's hand, tears gathered in his eyes and lip slightly trembling. "Cai viel en huilt en bloedt!"
(Translation: "Cai fell and cried and bleeds!")
Without wasting time, Max grabs Lewis' hand and runs after Nyxon, who runs pretty fast for his young age while Lewis doesn't understand what's wrong, except that his son's name was mentioned and that Nyxon seems shocked about that.
Arriving at the spot Nyxon and Cai played at, Lewis pales. Cai sits on the ground and fat tears fall down his cheeks with his left pant leg open and blood oozing out.
"How did that happen?" Max calmly asks Cai and kneels next to him, his backpack put on the ground and opened.
"W-we played and I wanted to c-climb," Cai sniffles and snuggles up to Lewis who started to gently stroke his back.
"Let me guess, you climbed pretty high and couldn't get down?" Max smiles and gets out a small bottle of water and some tissues while eyeing the bloody part carefully.
A nod follows from Cai and with hiccups interrupting him, he tries to explain the incident again.
"I wanted to have the big leaf up there but we couldn't get it," he points at a higher hanging leaf and both adults had to smile, knowing how much these simple things fascinate children.
"You could have asked us to help you, you know? Now we have you bleeding and your papa surely worries now," Max explains and gently taps the wetted tissue on the blood, trying to get rid of the blood and dirt and to see the real damage.
"Daddy can't worry! Not his fault!"
Lewis couldn't believe his eyes and ears, a stranger (or at least a stranger to him) talks with his son and Cai even reacts in the most protective way towards Lewis. Had he ever witnessed such things?
And while they talked and calmed down Cai, Nyxon rummaged through the backpack, pulling out a small package of bandaids and even a first-aid kit, giving it to Max and smiling at Cai who looked terrified.
"Cai, look!" the toddler distracts Cai with the different designs on the band-aid while the adults cleaned the wound and look at it, trying to figure out if it's really bad or not.
"Mister Max, can I have this bandy, please?" they get interrupted by Cai showing a bandaid with small dinosaurs and dragons on it, causing both parents to cooe.
"Of course Cai, but you have to promise to hold still while I put on your bandy, okay?"
"I promise!" Cai beams and giggles when his papa kissed his face and Max could apply the bandaid without complications.
--
"That wasn't an expected outcome of the playdate," Max laughs while eating one of the vegan cookies Nyxon and he baked while holding Nyxon on his lap, who also eats a cookie he not-so-secretly shares with Bear.
"Can we somehow repay you?" both Verstappens hear Lewis ask and look at him in shock. "It's not your fault, Lewis. It's the nature of children to play and to get hurt sometimes. And before you say something like "Cai normally doesn't cry when he gets hurt", let me say it - Cai probably cried not only because it hurt due to the dirt, but also because of the shock. He fell down some height and hurt himself in the process, which is totally normal for children his age. The only thing a parent can do after something like this is a small talk and cuddles."
A small smile appears on Lewis' lips and they talk a little bit longer, Nyxon and Cai also talk amongst themselves and the dogs running around, until the sun slowly sets and both young boys start to cry softly.
"I don't want to go!" Cai cried and hugged and also crying Nyxon, who looks at Max like he'd hurt him if they go now.
"Can we celebrate Christmas together, please?" Nyxon looks at Lewis, eyes extra big to coax him into allowing them to celebrate together.
"I'm sorry Nyxon, but Cai and I are already celebrating Christmas with our family," he apologises and thinks about it for some time.
"But if your papa agrees to it, we can celebrate New Year's Eve together?"
"You don' have to ask me," Max agrees with a laugh, loving the cheers of his son and Cai and also feeling good with the fond expression Lewis now has.
Maybe their sons are angels, sent to bring them together despite the shit they went through.
--
December 31st, New Year's Eve's almost there and Lewis feels nervous. After the day at the park, Max and he had texted a lot, talking about the plans for New Year's Eve and how they should dress.
When Max asked if it's okay for him when Max comes in a dress, his heart pounded hard. He heard about some men loving to wear dresses and always wanted to see Nico in a dress back then, but the German never liked the idea of him in "feminine" clothes.
So when max asked, Lewis almost immediately said yes and added a small "only if you really want to and feel comfortable, of course! I don't want to pressure you in some way". Gosh, he feels like a teen again.
"Daddy, why are you looking at the mirror again?" Cai comes into his bedroom, dressed in a smaller version of Lewis' outfit, with the only difference that his suit doesn't have the lace on the leg.
His small space buns have loose strands hanging out of them and his smile is brighter than Lewis has ever seen it be.
"I'm just nervous, do you think I look good?" he turns around and looks into Cai's eyes, hoping to get some sort of reaction from him.
"Why do you want to look good?" Cai grins and runs out with a laugh, enjoying teasing his father with his obvious crush on Max.
"You little cheeky monkey you!" he laughs and chases after his son, only stopping when he hears the doorbell ringing, causing him to stop dead in his tracks and to call Cai before walking to the door, opening it to feel like his heart just exploded.
At the door stand Max and Nyxon, both in dresses and with similar hairstyles and gosh, Lewis really is a lucky man, isn't he?
"I hope we aren't too late or too early," Max greets him and with the blush of the cold weather, he looks fantastic, giving Lewis all the more reasons as to why he fell for-
»Wait, what, I fell for him?! Since when-«
"Nyxon!" Cai runs up to Nyxon and hugs him, causing them both to land on the floor with happy faces. "I wanna show you what Santa got me! Daddy, can we go up to my room, please?"
"Of course, you can, just make sure you're down here when we call for dinner, okay?" With that, both boys run upstairs, leaving alone their parents, who just stare at each other, unable to move away from the door.
"You look good, handsome," Max smiles and brings Lewis out of his hazy mind, causing a bright blush to appear on his cheeks because of the nickname he missed at first.
"And you look stunning if I'm allowed to say so," he retorts, happy to be the cause of the next blush on Max's face, who now steps inside the house, unable to suppress a soft shudder when the warmth finally envelopes him.
"Is it okay if I walk around in high heels?"
"I'm not someone to deny you. What would you like to drink?" Lewis guides him through the first floor, noting how Max prefers to look at the pictures of him and Cai over beautiful landscapes and another warm feeling bubbles up inside of him.
"Depends on the choices I have, what do you have for me to possible pick?"
With that, they walk inside the small but rich storeroom of Lewis', discussing possible combinations of wines and the dishes.
"Cai, look! They seem to like each other!" Nyxon whispers to the younger boy while watching the adults talking from the staircase.
They had snuck out of Cai's room when they heard Max laughing at a flustered Lewis and sat down ever since, wanting to know if their parents get along.
"Do you think we'll be brothers?" Cai yawned and looked at the projected time on the small part of the wall over the staircase. He might not be able to read the clock, yet, but he knows that it's still some time until New Year's Eve.
"I hope so. Your dad looks like a good story reader if I have to be honest." "And your mom seems to give really good hugs!"
They laugh and cuddle up, tired from playing in Cai's room for hours now (actually, it's been an hour and a half in reality, but don't tell them) and falling asleep afterwards, only to be woken up by Max.
"Good evening the two of you," he grins and picks them up gently, before walking down the stairs and into the kitchen where Lewis still stands in front of the oven, pulling a slight face.
"What's wrong?" Max puts down the two boys and walks up to Lewis, only to have a spoon in front of him. "I don't know, but the taste isn't the right one," the Brit sighs and lets him taste.
After a while, Max beams and laughs lightheartedly. "You forgot the salt."
Both laugh and their sons have to grin, giving the other a silent high five and sitting down at the table, unable to hide their happiness.
"Where are we seeing the fireworks this year, daddy?" Cai looks at Nyxon and feels baffled when the other seemed confused about what they're talking about, even Max looks confused.
"You're not lighting the fireworks?" the Dutchman had to ask, unable to understand the situation.
Only when Lewis smiled lightly and turned around to face him to explain it does it make sense.
"Cai's mother and I used to light it up together, but at Cai's first New Year's Eve, a small firework flew into our collection and lit up everything, causing Cai to cry for the rest of the night. And even now, he sometimes cries when it's lit up too close to him or too loud."
The Verstappens nod in understanding; they had heard about things like that to happen.
Not liking the atmosphere, Nyxon pouts and asks: "where are we watching then?"
Everyone could practically see how the tension in Lewis' shoulders vanish and with a grateful smile, he turns around. "Well, I thought about on the rooftop of my company building, since my company organised a fireworks show this year."
"Is Uncle Val coming too?!" Cai shouts happily, having talked about Valtteri with Nyxon a lot of times now.
"I think so, and I also think that he'll bring other uncles with him too."
"What uncles?"
"Maybe Uncle Lando, Uncle Seb and Mick, Uncle Kimi and more."
"Yay! Nyxon, have you heard!?" the younger boy envelopes Nyxon in a discussion about which uncle is the best, giving their parents time alone again.
"I almost forgot that we share some friends," Max took some tableware and placed it on the table, focusing on Lewis all the while.
"Mn, it's actually nice to see them again after years, to see how much has changed."
"You haven't changed much after what Valtteri had said," Max walks back to Lewis, looking at the steady movement of Lewis' hand.
"And from what I have heard, you changed the most. From a school delinquent to a loving mother."
"Delinquent? Since when was I labelled as such?" Max laughed and had to use Lewis to stand tall and not to fall from laughing.
"Since you took drugs, drank alcohol on an hourly base and even broke into some stores?"
"Oh, you mean my rebellion against my father!" he cries out laughing, now putting almost all of his weight on Lewis who's even more confused by now.
"I only did these things to be disowned by that unlikeable man and it worked, well, it almost worked if he hadn't cleared my name multiple times."
"You don't have to talk more about it if you don't want to, you know?" Lewis looks back at the boys who have moved to the attached living room to wait until the dinner really is ready.
"Nah, I wanna come clean and leave behind the past in 2021. I'm sure you know the Verstappen Industries, as it used to be your biggest rival, right?"
"Yeah, they were even bigger than I was and now, they're like dead, why?"
"Well, my father runs that company and wanted to pass it on to me, but I refused. Why should I want that stupid thing when I was pregnant back then?"
Lewis chokes, not seeing that coming. "Excuse me, what?! You're a son of Jos'!?"
His question's rewarded with laughter from Max, who apparently didn't care about Lewis' poor eardrums. "Yes, I'm one child of that bastard."
"How did you hide that fact all these years?"
"Well, it wasn't that hard, you know? All I had to do was to be the complete opposite of him, which I already was, but with a little bit more aggression sprinkled into my actions, and boom, no one thought of me as a Verstappen anymore. Anyways, he wanted me to inherit the whole company but due to my unexpected pregnancy with my ex, I couldn't take over and told him no, my sister could have done that and it would have been better for the company, but no, this old froock didn't believe me and tried to force me into that business, which also led Nyxon to have the scars on his face and the sperm donor of mine to land in jail for some time."
"So that was the reason for Jos to be jailed? Child abuse?"
"Just abuse, are you crazy?! He tried to kill my baby on his third birthday and even had the audacity to tell the judge that without him, I would have become big in this business. But now we're free from him. He isn't allowed anywhere near us and is even forbidden to get into contact with us, which is the best thing that could have happened to Nyxon."
»Huh, so Jos isn't the good guy he claimed to be? Could be useful.«
They talked a little longer until the dinner was ready for real. Nyxon and Cai didn't have to be called as they were already coming and together, they ate until all were full and satisfied, giving Lewis and Max the perfect opportunity to bring their boys to bed.
"Will you be here when we wake up again?" Nyxon asks Lewis while Max holds his baby's hand, trying to keep his eyes open and hair tidy but failing.
"Of course, Nyxon. Now sleep, please," Lewis pats his head gently, feeling fond of the boy who also holds Cai's hand close to him.
"Can you please protect my baby in your sleep? He needs a big brother."
"Cai will never be alone when I'm here," Nyxon yawns and falls asleep, body turning to Cai and both snuggling up and snoring softly.
The picture of them in a small cuddled-up ball with Cai's biggest stuffed animals on their backs and blankets shaped around them like a nest is just too cute, Lewis had to take a picture to-
A small flash scares him and surprised, he turns around, only to see a grinning Max holding up his phone. "Gotcha," he winks and walks out silently, although he still wears the high heels.
»How often does he wear these to walk this silently?!«
Now that both of their sons are asleep, both of them start to clean up the kitchen before sitting down on the big couch of Lewis', turning on the TV and starting some random show but let us be honest, they only want some sort of noise in the background while they talk.
"Say," Lewis begins and looks around them, catching Max's attention, "how do you feel about men wearing make-up?"
"It's normal in my perspective. Even celebrities use light make-up to cover up some things to look perfect, why do you ask?"
"Well, I have noticed that Nyxon looked hesitant during our first encounter and from what I have witnessed afterwards, he seems to be insecure about his scars, right?"
A sigh comes as an answer and Lewis looks at Max, seeing the younger man having a hanging head and closed eyes before a nod comes.
"People always comment on that."
"What would be if we decorate them with a little bit of fireworks-themed make-up to let him know that these scars don't define beauty?"
"You really have a way with words, but yeah, that could work for him, but what about Cai? Won't he feel excluded?"
Lewis goes quiet, trying to find a way to include his son; he knows Cai hates make-up like the worst disease.
"I don't know how. He hates make-up since he's been a child, so I'm not too sure about make-up, but he loves stuffed animals, so what can we do about it?"
They sit there, thinking. Roscoe walks up to them, Bear following him and they both sit by their owners' feet. Lewis almost forgot about the younger dog, although he's a giant for his age.
"Does he have some New Year's Eve themed stuffed animal?"
"Not that I know, but we have paper." "Paper? Oh, to make a small New Year's Eve hat!"
Together, they laugh and start to craft hats for the stuffed animals and for themselves, spending almost two hours crafting and throwing confetti at each other.
At one point, they even started to play fight for a paper streamer until they were tangled up in them, causing both to fall onto the ground.
Laughing hardly, they look into each other's eyes, feeling disconnected from the world around them.
"Weet je, je bent eigenlijk mijn type. Helder van geest, puur van hart en gewoon de perfecte vader," Max whispers and Lewis swore the other just put him under a spell with the soft voice of his, the beautiful blue eyes and just every centimeter of his body.
"I have no clue what you said, but I suppose it's something good, seeing as you're blushing," Lewis tries his luck and is rewarded with a deepening blush from Max.
Just when they thought it would be just them, a small vibration rips them apart - only an hour until the new year begins.
"Can you wake up the boys?" Lewis entangles them and stands up, reading himself to drive to his company, which isn't that far away.
"Sure, just be ready for an awesome year," Max winks and runs up, amazing Lewis in the process and waking up the boys from their nap.
"Mommy, is it already time?" Nyxon wakes up first, rubbing his eyes and looking at Max like destroyed an entire dream of his, which he actually did.
"Baby, we need to drive to Lewis' company to watch the fireworks, remember?"
"FIREWORKS!" Cai wakes up now and shoots up, bolting through the door and leaving behind baffled Verstappens, who follow him.
--
The drive to Lewis' company was filled with laughter from the boys, occasional giggles from Max and fond smiles from Lewis.
Nyxon's scars are decorated by delicately drawn fireworks from Max and Lewis, s funny looking heart by Cai and two paw prints on either cheek by Roscoe and Bear, while Cai has a paper crown with the words "DADDY'S NEW YEAR'S KING CAI" on it and his dragon plushie with a long paper scarf with "HAPPY NEW YEAR, YOU FROOKERS" written by Max on it.
And Max and Lewis? Well, they have "DADDY" and "MOMMY" on their foreheads, knowing that some people might get confused if Nyxon and Cai refer to them in public.
Arriving at the company, the four of them hurry to the elevators, knowing fully well that time's running away and only fifteen minutes are left for them to arrive before 2022 starts.
Arriving at the top, both parents pick up their sons and walk to the other people, easily finding Valtteri and their shared friends, who all gasp at seeing Max and Lewis together.
"Am I seeing things clearly or am I already too drunk?" a young man with curly brown hair chokes on his champagne, throwing Max a knowing glance which the other replies with a bright grin.
"I don't think we have much to say, so let's celebrate New Year's Eve like it's our last!"
Cheers erupt from everyone, especially from Cai and Nyxon who celebrate their parents getting along and maybe a possible relationship between them.
Ten minutes until 2022 and a nicely dressed woman walks around with small packages, handing one to Cai but getting rejected.
"Thank you Auntie Maribelle, but I'm a big boy now," the younger had claimed with fake confidence and Nyxon just had to ask Max.
"Mama, wat zit er in deze pakjes die de vrouw net heeft gekocht?" Nyxon whispers to Max while looking at Cai, who's eye are casted downwards.
(Translation: "Mama, what's in these packages the woman just bought?")
"Dit zijn oordopjes die je gebruikt als je luide dingen als vuurwerk wilt dempen," Max answers also in whisper.
(Translation: "These are earplugs that you use when you want to mute loud things like fireworks.")
"Waarom heeft Cai ze dan afgewezen?" "Misschien omdat je ze niet gebruikt? Misschien wil hij je laten zien dat hij net zo dapper is als jij?"
(Translation: "Then why did Cai turn them down?" "Maybe because you don't use them? Maybe he wants to show you that he's just as brave as you?")
"Maar als hij bang is, hoeft hij niet te doen alsof. Ik zal wat voor ons halen." "Ik ben trots op mijn volwassen baby."
(Translation: "But if he's scared, he doesn't have to pretend. I'll get us some." "I'm proud of my grown baby.")
With that, Nyxon walks away and gets Cai and himself earplugs, creating a fond smile to appear on Max's lips when two arms encircle his waist and a chin is placed on his shoulder.
"Wanna count down together?" Lewis' whispered voice sounds like music to Max's ears and with a nod, they start to count down, giving Max enough time.
"10...9...8..."
»You can do it, Max!«
"7...6...5..."
»You have done that multiple times now, so why should you care now?«
"4...3..2..."
»That's what Nyxon and you wanted for so long, so why do you hesitate?!«
"1...HAPPY NEW YEAR!"
A shaky breath flees from Max's lips and before Lewis could say anything, the lips Max's cover his while cheers echo in the background.
"Gelukkig nieuwjaar, Britse idioot," he smiles once they break the kiss and with a loud boom, the fireworks begin, giving both of them and their sons a beautiful glow in the new year of 2022, marking the beginning of a new chapter.
(Edit: 5,100 words for this one. My brain hurts, but I think it was worth it. Once again Happy New Year everyone and I love you!❤❤)
