Brother‌:

@neithergodsnormen for Edds little brother

image

Eddard watched his little brother talk to Lord Bolton’s daughter with a small smirk. It was good to see that maybe the Karstarks would be closer to the Boltons than just a friendship between this generation’s children. He wondered what Domeric would think of Tor being sweet on Morgan. He waited until his brother approached him and patted his shoulder. “You and Bolton’s daughter huh?” he teased.

image

Torrhen jolts at the feeling of his brother’s hand on his shoulder and lets out a sigh when he realizes that his older brother had been watching him talking to Morgan. Torrhen had been close to the Bolton siblings when he was fostered at Hornwood, Daryn and him often going to interact with Domeric when the other had been in the Dreadfort. “What of it, Ed?”

❝ This is your chance. ❞ Rickard had given a tremendous opportunity to his son. He had placed his trust in Torhhen and left him to rule their House’s castle and lands. And yet it was perceived as a punishment and it paled in comparison to the promises of war. Alys did not understand how her brother could not see the chance that he was offered. He was not the heir and unless he married well, he would never rule. He could prove his valour at home and did not need a sword for that particular task.

❝ Father was smart. In war sons die. ❞ Her voice broke as she thought about Harry, Edd and Daryn. They all left and the young lady understood that they might not come back. ❝ He perhaps saved your life. ❞ And also insured that Karhold would not fall into the wrongs hands. Alys would have been heir but she was destined to leave for Hornwood. She would give Daryn children and they would carry his name not hers. The main branch would die.

❝ I believe a time will come in your lifetime when you can win glories in war. For now you must stay with me and protect your sister and home. Is that so terrible ? ❞

image

Torrhen knew that Alys was right, that there was a reason that their father had left him in charge of Karhold. It was not smart to take all your heirs into battle, but he was still unhappy that it was him. He wasn’t trained to be a lord of an entire vast holding, Harrion was. And who would keep Daryn from doing something stupid that would leave him unable to return to marry Alys? He hated that he had been left behind, but Alys was right. Someone had to stay and make sure that she was safe. Wildlings had been seen in Last Hearth again, and their uncles... ❝ I still wish that I was marching with them. ❞

Torrhen clenches his jaw and takes in a sharp breath, wanting to scream at the world that he did not want the responsibility. He felt like he was drowning, lost beyond all belief and in well over his head.  ❝ Alys, I don’t know how to run a household, let alone one this large. It would have been better if he had left Harrion or Edd. If he has saved my life and sacrificed theirs, then it is hardly fair to the people of Karhold. ❞ He wanted nothing more for his brothers to return whole, now.

❝ I need help if I am going to do this... Will you help me? ❞

“Easy Tor, I meant nothing by it, I don’t think Father would mind if you and Morgan were to be matched,” He stated with a smile, he knew how close Torrhen was to Domeric. It was nice to see that Torrhen was sweet on someone that wasn’t one of the townsfolk of their keep. “I just think it’s good that you are sweet on Lady Morgan. It looks like she feels the same,”

image

Torrhen chewed on the inside of his bottom lip before looking at his brother again, shifting awkwardly on his feet. “You really think so? I mean... a match between us would strengthen our alliance with the Dreadfort, so there really is not a harm to it....” He blinks at the last of his brother’s words. “She is my friend, I think that is why she is ‘sweet’ on me as you say.”

@flayersdaughter we torment him with the big brothers about his crush let’s give the crush some screen time

image

Torrhen took a deep breath and glanced over at Morgan. He knew that this had been their brothers’ idea, to leave the two of them alone and ride off before the summer snow had subsided. He knew not where those sons of bitches had went, but he was sure as hell not going to let them get away without some retribution. Eddard would get the brunt of his ire, he should never have let his brother know that he’d a small hope that Roose would betroth Morgan to him... even if he had been right drunk when he spoke about it.

Their shelter was quite warm, especially with the fire that they all had built the night before. He was glad that they had all stayed up late in order to gather as much dry wood as possible before the snow had set in and dampened what had been lying around. Those horses were settled comfortably as well, rather unbothered by the current predicament that the two humans were in.

“What is the plan, now that those two have ridden off gods know how many hours ago?” he asked, unsure of what else to say in order to break the awkward silence.

King Robb:

hamilton starters. pt. 1 II “ i imagine death so much it’s like a memory. ” -Torrhen for Robb in an AU where Tor survived the Whispering Woods II @neithergodsnormen

TOO close of a brush with death far too many times.  torrhen would have died for him, robb is sure, if it had come down to it, but he does not let himself linger on the what-ifs and the full weight of the casualties or else he would never find the strength again to stand.  it had been luck, but every victory has been for the boy king who had never known battle a day before his first, and had not yet lost since – it had been precision and planning and the perfection of capturing the kingslayer before he could get through and add another to his list.

image

ROBB’S hand rests upon torrhen’s shoulder and he squeezes.  he sees the faces of their fallen, and his father who sansa had to witness in his place; he sees the purple bags beneath his tully blues in his own reflection and reminds himself why they must go on.  “i know,” he says, “and one day, it will be only memory – when the fighting is done and we’ve gone home – but not this day.  you live, and though i know i already ask much of you, i must ask you to keep living still.”

image

seeing the sword part the flesh and go into daryn’s skull replayed again and again in his mind, daryn, who should have been his good-brother at this time next year. if it wasn’t daryn’s demise it was eddard’s, the sight of the lion’s sword burying itself into edd’s neck. he could still see the look of shock on his brother’s face, and fear… gods forbid… fear in edd’s eyes as he gasped for breath that would never reach his lungs for the sword that was in his throat, blood welling around it. he’d near lost his own hand that day as well, saved only by the maester that worked for riverrun..

tor takes a deep breath and dark grey eyes flick to meet blue and he finds his throat is tight once more as he looks at his king. vulnerable, he felt more vulnerable than he ever wished to feel again. robb’s words wring true, however, and he knows that he would be doing edd and daryn a disservice to not keep living and hold their memory alive with himself. “you can ask anything of me, my king, and i will gladly give it.” and he would, until his last breath. “for you, i will keep living, even when i wish not to.”

@agirlofwinterfell sent: "I'm a girl!" For Torrhen

° ✧ GAME OF THRONES PROMPTS. PART I.

Torrhen looked at the scrappy little thing that had freed him and the others and let out a laugh. There was something about how feisty she was that reminded him of a lot of the stories his father had told him of Lord Stark’s brother and sister before they had been killed when Torr was not even yet able to walk. “I can see that.” Her hair was shorn, sure, but he’d seen plenty of smallfolk girls who had  to cut their hair due to lice to not be deceived by it. “SO, girl, what is your name?”

@aclashofmuses sent: “No, no, no, don’t die on me!” okay but this in contrast to the Robb/Torrhen thread we have going — I’ll send more but I’m currently supposed to be sleeping 👀

Send me “No, no, no, don’t die on me!” for a scenario in which my muse dies protecting yours.

torrhen lets out a cry as he throws himself between robb stark and jaime lannister, his sword raised. a last minute turn of the wrist, and the kingslayer severs him, torr watching in horror as his sword hand is cut. his fingers gone, save his thumb and the stump left at an angle. blood streaming, not stopping, and a cry leaving him once more. this one of fear. men grapple the kingslayer to the ground and robb rushes to torrhen’s side. the two young men, barely out of boyhood try to staunch the bleeding. to no avail. the blood keeps flowing at torr starts to feel lightheaded. he leans into robb as the other man starts to yell, the words falling on deaf ears as everything around him starts to muffle and go black.

Morgan:

image

“That is another enemy down for me and Dacey, Torrhen, you need to catch up,” Morgan laughed as she cut down another Lannister soldier in the battle. “You might loose me me as your battle wife,”  Sure, her father didn’t like she fought up in the vangard with Torren and Dacey protecting Robb, but he lost any say when he had her fostered on Bear Island what did he think would happen. She was the last of his true born children and the Dreadfort was hers by right, well her husband’s by right; not Ramsay’s.

@neithergodsnormen because we need this A!U

image

Torrhen had been knocked askew when she had taunted him and he could not help but smile before hopping back to his feet. She was beautiful, beautiful and fierce and he loved her for it. Once he was on his feet again he quickly moved to cut down the Lannister soldier that had caused him to fall.

“Just giving you girls a head start.” Torrhen teased, not that either of them was truly keeping count. At least he hoped she wasn’t... as he certainly was not going to count every soldier that he cut down. He had once been a close friend to her late brother, the children of Karhold had always been close to those of the Dreadfort. “I certainly don’t want that, if you remain my battle wife then I have the best sword defending my back.”
