80 years ago on June 6, 1944, D-day began.

Today is the 78th anniversary of D-Day. On this day in 1944, 156,000 soldiers from the USA, Canada, and the UK began the invasion to take back Europe. It was known as Operation Overlord.

4, 414 soldiers are confirmed to have lost their lives that day. Thousands are still unconfirmed, with historians believing that number to be over 10,000.

Take a moment to think about those soldiers who never got to come home today. The world would be very different if they hadn’t succeeded ❤️

This is one of my favorite photographs from WW2. It's absolutely iconic. And since it's the 78th anniversary of D Day I'd like to take a moment to talk about it.

It was such an important moment on the European front. The amount of time and effort and training and equipment that went into it is insane to me. And I'm very thankful to those brave men that stormed the beaches and fought through. They truly made a difference in this world, and even though it happened nearly 80 years ago, it's something that we need to remember.
