I have a spoiler filled question but given what LB7 revealed,

Was it actually necessary to prune the Lostbelts? Since we now know that the world being bleached didn't affect anyone (Chelsea's population notwithstanding) does that mean we could've just dashed straight to the antarctic base and be down with it?

It's been bugging me since the reveal

I have been educated, and yes it was necessary, but it wasn't all that communicated. Or it was I just didn't see it. It was probably the second one
