Sun Station. This Was One Of The Coolest Moments In The Base Game (and One Of The Saddest). The Hotshot

Sun Station. This was one of the coolest moments in the base game (and one of the saddest). The hotshot achievement was also cool, and almost easier than the cactus tunnel lmao. This one was harder to draw, since it's more of a drawing focusing on a structure than a landscape which kind of limits my different ideas for shading, as well as reducing room for error. Still pretty happy with it, especially the sun and sky. Probably something I'll redraw once I'm better at digital art.

Here's an old photo of some silly Nomai post-it note comics that were on the Mobius office corkboard. Had to have been before the Nomai got their designs finalized, so early-to-mid 2017 probably...?

They were in the fig backer digital artbook but idk if anyone knows that thing existed. Anyway here's a closeup view:

a post it note with "i have no idea what the nomai are supposed to look like" written on it. a drawing of a nomai in a hoodie/dress is giving a thumbs up while saying "we died!" and in the distance a nomai is raising columns out of the ground. "ta da!"
a nomai is wearing some sort of space suit and looking down at it with their arms outstretched, unimpressed. next to them another nomai is standing on a rock looking thoughtfully at them saying "hmm, needs more pattern design"
"but what do the nomai look like under that hood?" the nomai lowers it to reveal cat ears. "oh my god???" the nomai makes a cutesy cat paw gesture while saying "nyaa". text says "its canon until alex notices"
a nomai places a spiral text on a wall (write!). another nomai places another one beside it (response!). the final panel is the left nomai saying "im right here, dude. you can just talk to me" and the right nomai responds with their fist clenched saying "no. i love the written word"
a hearthian is talking to the hatchling and saying "the ancient nomai were wise beyond their years. its too bad their endless knowledge is lost forever. the hatchling responds with "i see." the next panel is a nomai manifesting a ramp next to a row of deadly cactus, and the final panel is a skateboarding nomai going off that ramp. sick nasty is written in big text. the ramp-summoning nomai has their arms raised up in excitement
there is a group of three nomai, the middle one is wearing human-style sunglasses and is closing their third eye. the leftmost nomai says "alright nomais, we've crashed into this planet. where should we build our rad city?" the sunglasses nomai excitedly says "the surface!" but the leftmost nomai says "no way, its too hot up there." the rightmost nomai says "the pitch black and winding cave system!" and the leftmost nomai says "perfect". the sunglasses nomai's third eye squints dismissively at the rightmost nomai
a nomai is happily holding up a four-eyed frog and saying "do youuuu know where the eye of the universe is?". another nomai in the background angrily says "dude stop messing with the developing lifeforms"
nomai in dark bramble. they still got hoodies on but with a glass dome for a visor so its, like, a space suit kind of. one of the nomai is sticking their head into a dark bramble seed, which comes out giant-sized from a bramble seed in the background (scaring another nomai). they say "this place is weird"

As a bonus heres an unseen whiteboard comic about the black hole forge made shortly after Outer Wilds came out:

a comic. a nomai (fur and horns and all) is standing on a box labeled "box" and holding a bunch of warp cores. they ask "should we put all the warp core materials in the black hole forge?" another nomai besides them has their hand on their chin and responds with "i dont want them to get jostled." the next panel has the two of them look over at someone messing with the orb-controls for the black hole forge, raising it up and down. in the background, a nomai is hanging on to the doorway of the forge and yelling "i will end you"

(there was a patch that did a big change to that area soon after release)

outerwilds outer wilds solanum outer wilds fanart outer wilds hatchling outer wilds spoilers outer wilds art beautiful animation!!! this reminds me of how impactful and memorable this part of the game was for me like you go through hearing about all these peiple and you get so close and familiar with them despite them being long dead and then you are able to meet one and speak to them!!!! i love that they added this into the game and i love the animation 😁 i like the detail of the loop ending it really pulls it together
