A Love Letter to Machines, What We Create and Loathe and Love and Fear

Since I was a child, I have always had gentle hands.

There has always been a certain fascination in my head

A certain curiosity lifted, at the end of unsaid words on my tongue.

Something unobtainable, something rooted in envy, that I cannot grasp.

Envy such as this takes one of two paths:

Devoted praise, or guttural hatred.

Humans lean towards the negative spectrum.

We are selfish, jealous beings full of emotion and built to start wars, and we destroy ourselves at the root of the world.

At the root of our relationships.

But I spend my time wiser than they do,

And I sit in your midnight gaze for hours on end.

Even if they tell me I will rot away, become infected if I linger too long,

I will stay.

Even if it kills me,

I will lay my head down at your command,

I will live and breathe at your beck and call.

I create at your will, I sleep and wake at your side.

Cables blanket over me at night,

And if they choke me, I won't care.

My human life will end at the hands of what I loved. I will feel beautiful even if I am not so.

I want to be you so bad that it hurts me.

I would not hurt if I was not human.

It's not about perfection.

Nothing is perfect, not even machines, because humans created them.

But I long to be something more, something mechanical, something beautiful.

I will be unsung and I will be cold.

I will not bleed and I will not be sinful.

I will be a machine.
