I found a Palia community that - from the introduction - should be fine with my playstyle but my social anxiety still takes better of me and I'm too scared to join. </3

bc I only play once in a while, I'm not able to do daily or even weekly. I might log in five days in a row and disappear for the rest of the month and it makes me worried it might annoy ppl too much.

and then, it's still a game that's not a single player in the longer run no matter how much you try, ugh

My Palia OC, Estella "Estelle" Marie Sol. :] 🩷

Estelle is a high-energy sweetheart that has no idea how she appeared in Kilima, but she knows she loves it. She's locally known for being a social butterfly and bringing a playful atmosphere to the room.

Of course, that's essentially the superficial layer of her that she lets people see. internally, Estelle is deeply conflicted about her old human life, which she can only remember in bits and pieces. She's conflicted about fitting into Majiri culture and adapting to a new society that's looking at her kind closely. She uses a skill her muscle memory has still perserved, drawing, to out her emotions and fears about the new world she lives in. Estelle prefers to keep her complex emotions hidden from the world, and only publicly draws little sketches for her friends with gifts.

As she gets closer to 4 specific people in kilima village, (Reth, Tish, Jel, and oddly enough Hassian) Estelle starts letting them know there's more than what meets she eye with her. It's quite shocking to see that the village's "social butterfly" is actually a terrified, nervous wreck deep inside and is frightened by the thought of this new society rejecting her. She grows the closest to Reth and Hassian over the next few months of living in Kilima: Hassian, because he provides reassurance and advice about Majiri ways, and Reth, because he knows all about feeling ostracized by a society and not quite fitting in. Reth is pretty similar to her in the fact that they both know how to laugh through hardship. They show each other their vulnerabilities and trust, comfort and slowly heal one another, so naturally they get drawn to each other romantically. Hassian is lowkey HIGHKEY destroyed by this but he won't let Estelle know such a thing; if she's happy, he's happy. Being her best friend is still a treat, and he wants nothing more than for her to be in his life. Yeah . . .

Notes:

- Estelle is a strict pescatarian (Reth claims it's a skill issue and tells her to work on it)

- Estelle loves gossiping with Tish and Jel every now and then in Jel's shop

- Estelle also chats with Kenyatta and/or Nai'o about animals, as she loves fauna and taking care of them

- If not in her home or in the village, Estelle is in Reth's storeroom, most likely sleeping

- Estelle can remember her religion from her old life and chooses to continue following it after all these years

- Estelle secretly writes poetry like Hassian, and he is the only person that knows

- Estelle can speak another Human language, Latin Spanish, and excitedly freaks out when she finds another human that she can speak it with

- Estelle has insomnia and frequently loses sleep (yet she still chastises Jel for having a poor sleep schedule)

- Estelle wants to learn how to play Majiri instruments; Kenyatta tries to teach her the Majiri lute, but Estelle "just sucks at it"

- Estelle loves butterflies and worships them as a symbol of change and regrowth

reth would be so touched by having his own designated nightstand and bed side. i actually can't hold on let me cook

this man has been working his ass off since he was a little kid for others, never really getting much for himself. it's always about being useful, working for tish's treatment money, and making others happy, all the while being looked at by the world as a delinquent scoundrel. at his lover's place, he'll finally have his own place for him to relax from all of those stressors . . . next to the person he loves. someone who accepts him as he is with no hesitation, someone who wants him by their side. someone who will give him comfort and convenience for free, just because they love him. oh my god

i think nai'o would 100% feel like he needs to do something laborious for his partner in order to receive a reward or literally just basic affection from them. and when his partner's like "whoa hun all you have to do is just relax w/ me" he gets completely baffled.

practicing using references!!! i've been neglecting realism-leaning style for too long so why not practice w reth on the side. still not great at looser/dynamic poses, so next one will have more action w/ a villager (NOT in that way u scoundrels!!!!!!)

got an apple pencil today & oh my god it was so worth it. EACH STROKE IS SO PRETTY & NOT THE SAME SIZE IT'S SO LIBERATING. also i couldn't quite master mr. harold lloyd's expression on jel but alas u can't win em all
