Now that I have your attention, hi! I’m Ren (she/her, 29, CST) and I write for my own interpretation of Anne Bonny over at @neverhangd ! I’m trying to find some partners interested in writing piraty things with Anne and me. While I’m open to all characters, I’m especially looking for:

THE SINKING SHIP is a brand new Our Flag Means Death-themed Golden Age of Piracy Discord RPG open to characters from history, myth, legend, original creation, and other media (Pirates of the Caribbean, Black Sails, etc.). This is a space for like-minded writers both to roleplay via the Discord system and to connect, hang out, and network with one another, and we are pleased to be officially soft-launching this week! Story Arc 1: Kraken's Return
The Golden Age of Piracy does not seem very golden at the moment for the former co-captains of The Revenge as Blackbeard begins his bent as the Kraken and the Gentleman Pirate finds himself without a ship and half a crew. Everyone's nerves are frazzled. Stede and the marooned crew manage to get to safe-ish port at the Republic of Pirates and set their goals on one of two things: a ship for pursuit or a fuckery to draw Blackbeard back to them. Whether either will work is a shot in the dark. Meanwhile Blackbeard, Izzy, and the crew they stole away are finally doing some real pirating again. Except Blackbeard's swung all the way back round to being a danger to anyone around him, so survival becomes the major focus for those still onboard The Revenge.
The powers that be, royal, mysterious, or otherwise, have deemed fit to set a high bounty on Blackbeard's head for his desertion of privateer duties. There are some who even have it in for the Gentleman Pirate at this point, after hearing weird stories about a partnership with Blackbeard, the robbery and utter destruction of a high society social vessel under false identities, and his vaunted wealth at sea. Suffice to say, both are prominently wanted figures now, drawing a variety of personalities to the ocean waves looking for a piece of the action.

DIVERGENCE
While I primarily use history as my throughline for events in Anne’s life and where it’s eventually headed, writing’s all about the fun of exploration, so this blog diverges happily from history, fanon, and canon to plumb the depths.

Anne’s story has almost always been a story of the men around her instead; so Anne’s story here really begins just after the Cuba Incident, or perhaps a little before, when she came to realize a number of things. One, Jack Rackham was an abusive shithead who couldn’t keep a promise if it sewed itself to him; two, she was a captive involuntarily houseguest of Jack’s “friends” in Cuba and had no idea what would come next; three, that she was sick of living in Jack’s or any man’s shadow and would get out of it come hell or high water. Anne would later say she gave birth to a corpse and that that was the sign that she wasn’t really living, anyway. Nothing living can be birthed out of something dead. Anne’s baby was silently delivered mid-afternoon, whereon she would never see the child. Some. time that night between when she was put to bed and four in the morning, when a concerned “friend” of Jack’s came to check on her, Anne had disappeared from the villa.
This is where Anne Bonny’s new story starts.

Anne is slow to return to consciousness; she feels sick, achey. Her head is spinning, her nose throbs, she can’t breathe right—and then she remembers a fist flying at her face. And she half-laughs, half-coughs herself all the way back into the waking world. Her top lip and nostrils are crusted over with blood, and she’s a nasty cut and a swollen eye, but she’ll live.
Her split lip bleeds anew when as she smiles at that though. She’ll live, alright. As for the dim fucker who sucker punched her, she’ll make no promises.
It’s only then that movement in the other cell catches her eye. Anne cranes her neck, trying to get a good look.
“Those fuckers get ye, too?”
Anne leans on a wall in the foyer of the brothel, pointedly ignoring the growing pile of wood shavings at her feet. It isn’t so bad, agreeing to be hired muscle, except on the days like today where instead of knocking together heads she’s expected to stand by and babysit, “just in case.” Fucking boring is all it is, even with whittling to at least keep her hands busy.
No one’s approached to proposition her for the last fifteen or so minutes, after she’d threatened to cut the last one’s dick off if he didn’t take her no and fuck off already, and no one’s got the nerve now to approach her about the mess she’s making. She’ll be gone as soon as the rich, dim fuck upstairs is done with his shag and ready to drag her along on his next errand. Anne consigns herself to boredom until then.
Though perhaps she needn’t have done that so soon, since trouble’s come to brothel’s door in a humanoid shape. The steady scrape of steel on wood slows to a stop as suspicious eyes narrow in the stranger’s direction. The fuck’s this on about, then?
