Yes, angels can look like humans, and have human bodies. But there's always something.. Different about them. Something ethereal you can't quite put your finger on.

Physically speaking, you'd be hard pressed to actually box them in any gender binary. Their hair is shockingly soft, and somehow never tamed by any brush or conditioner. There's a few more fingers than ordinary humans. More than one pupil. And when light hits their eyes, there's just something shining through that you can't explain through any logic. Their gaze is so deep it makes oceans seem like puddles. The bags under their eyes echoing that sentiment

Close up, their skin seems to be covered in thin, intricate lines. "Stretch marks!" you'd probably reason. But something about it looks like the person was painstakingly woven together from the finest silk. Moles, zits and discolorations on their skin evoke the feeling of constellations, of countless galaxies. The scars on their body form stars, clouds, suns.

Uneven limbs, asymmetrical faces. Big noses and ears that stick out. Unique fat distribution. Greasy skin that makes them appear as if they're shining all the time. Sporatically placed freckles. Big or uneven teeth with gaps. Things that the human society might not usually consider beautiful or angelic. But that's not the point. Angels exist regardless, blending in just enough, but being people you'll always remember after years.

Your home economics teacher from 8th grade who's impressive height gave her an imposing presence. Who, regardless of it, walked hunched over, as if to come down to your level, to meet you on your terms. The local woodworker who keeps his unbelievably curly hair up, except that one time all his students really wanted to see it down, and he couldn'tve looked happier to oblige. Who offered you the kindness you desperately needed that one day. The girl who you somehow had the chance to meet despite the universe's odds against it. Who had been convinced that she's unlovable, yet taught you to love like nobody else. The cool rocker lady who's wide smile reminds you of a horse, who took you on a little ride in her extremely customized Gothic car. The stranger on the internet you fall in love with everyday because they remind you that you're not forgotten.

They're here.

#Blackout for Minneapolis. For Louisville. For Toronto. For Brooklyn. #Blackout for Us All.

#Blackout For Minneapolis. For Louisville. For Toronto. For Brooklyn. #Blackout For Us All.

To the #Blackout Community and Tumblr at large,

We know you must have a lot of questions or are feeling distressed about the news. The world has been dealing with a lot this year, and it is an especially harrowing time for Black Americans and Black folks abroad. We know your biggest question right now could be summed up by a quote from Toni Morrison:

“What can I do where I am?”

Here at #TheBlackout, we have decided to help you start finding an answer to that question - we feel that we need each other. We need unity, organization, a clear sense of direction, but more importantly, a space where you can be yourself without judgement or fear.

So, in addition to boosting your art and businesses, our highest priority right now is to provide you all with resources to help you start from where you are.

This is a masterpost of places you can donate, find mental health + spaces for radical self-care, and just do something fun. We will be adding on as things change.
